Siobhan walked into the Great Hall with her nose stuck firmly in one of the many books within her messenger bag. It was definitely time for dinner and the obnoxious spread of voices permeated the air but not Siobhan's ears. She had the unnatural ability to tune her world out and go for hours without any sort of noise other than the pages of her book turning. It was so peaceful.

Siobhan peaked over her book in order to locate the Gryffindor table and made her way over. Finding a small section of the table that wasn't overtaken by her rowdy housemates, she pulled the bench out and began to take a seat. Upon sitting she noticed that she was sitting facing the backs of the Hufflepuffs, whose table was far quieter and much more subdued. Siobhan didn't need to be sitting at the Gryffindor table to be aware that her house was easily the source of 90% of the noise within the Great Hall. It frustrated her to be completely honest.

Well Gryffindor itself was an amazing house. So many qualities that Siobhan didn't think she had were identified to her within the first week or so. She loved the spiraling tower that she climbed every day. It reminded her of the muggle princess, Rapunzel, who lived in her own magical tower. Siobhan loved to curl up in dusks' light in the window of the tower to read her books before she went to bed. But sometimes the brashness and rowdiness was just a little much for her.

Besides, most of her friends were Hufflepuffs and they seemed like they were having a perfectly quiet and peaceful meal, while she was currently dealing with the jumping and bouncing tableware and table itself which was due to the rambunctiousness of her housemates. Siobhan however was far to non-confrontational to say anything to them. They were all much older than her and had established themselves as the "top dogs" of the house.

Siobhan sighed to herself and put her book open on her lap so that she could begin to serve herself some dinner. Thankfully a quick note left hastily on a napkin the other evening had made its way to whoever was in charge of the kitchens that she would absolutely, if it wasn't too much trouble, love some more vegetarian options. Tonights meal included a vegetable casserole, and to Siobhan's utter delight, Bubble and Squeak. She loaded her plate up with a delicious portion of the cheese, kale, cabbage, and potato cooked meal. It tasted absolutely divine and brought comfort to her stomach. Last night she had picked at some stewed vegetables and went to bed quite hungry because there wasn't anything else. The main dishes had been a beef stew or a type of chicken pasta.

Siobhan was just about to tuck in to her meal when a heavy jostle from the left side of the Gryffindor table sent her food flying into her lap. Siobhan shot up with a 'hiss' as hot food spilled into her personal copy of "1000 Magical Herbs and Fungi."

'No! No! I can't afford another copy of this book!' Siobhan panicked as she tried to clean the food out of her book. All the books she owned were second hand finds and she did not have the funds to buy a new one.

Sighing, she placed her book still open back onto the table and began to clean her plate up. Maybe she could borrow someone elses while she tried to come up with an explanation for why her book was ruined.
