The Magical Menagerie is loud and crowded with cages with suspicious smells hanging in the air. It may have been a bad move to go inside the shop right after eating an entire cone of praline ice cream but since she's already here, might as well take a good look around. She remembered how some of her classmates have their pets; from owls to tarantulas.

Before she attended Hogwarts, her parents asked if she wanted an owl as a gift after receiving her letter but she chose to get a mokeskin pouch. Not that she ever regretted that decision, it's a very useful item that saved her hide more than a few times but it's entirely different when it comes to having someone who'll be your companion.

She loves her friends, she does but it made her wonder what it'll be like to have a friend you can talk to without any judgment (or they are unable to actually react to her mini tantrums about her poor performance in Potions) and can even be kept safe in her pocket. She knows Lucie and Ali wouldn't appreciate being shrunken to the size of a thimble so she can carry them around in her robes. Okay maybe Lucie might just to experience how it feels like but Noa's Transfiguration skill isn't on the level needed to make sure she can pull it off without harming her friend in some kind of accident.

Roaming around the shop which is a very doable feat, she waved happily at the Wittickers, the owners of the shop with Anita Witticker returning her attention to a boy holding a huge grey cat in his arms. Among the cages were different kinds of owls; Indian Eagle owl, snowy, Great Horned, Tawny... most of them just stared at her with their large eyes though some just ignored her, choosing to roost on the darker area of their cage. Next to them were the numerous cats lounging about, some of the younger kittens were playing with what they could get their paws on which included the tails of older ones.

Across them were ravens, lizards, ferrets, and rabbits.

She's sure all of them would make wonderful pets (except those flobberworms who might be sold to be food for other pets) but none of them felt like the right fit for her.

Ah, no matter. It's kind of nice watching others find their animal partner though and maybe she can discover an animal familiar to her once she starts her third year and attends her first Care of Magical Creatures class.
