A Break From The Stress open Closed

Minnie was overwhelmed by all the magic. She knew that she shouldn't be as she was a pure-blood, but she had never seen this much magic in one place. The stairs moved and she had no idea where anything was. She had nowhere to go, and no plants to calm her down. Then she thought of the one place that was sure to put her stress aside. "I need to go to the library." She said to herself.

When she got to the library, she breathed a sigh of relief. Here she was safe. She breathed in the parchment smells. She wanted to look up some more facts about Hogwarts, she didn't know nearly enough stuff, and some solid books about the Wizard world was sure to put her homesickness and stress off her mind. Now I can relax Minnie thought. She started to search the library for a book that she could get into. She found a book about Newt Scamander, and plopped down on a comfy bean bag chair. Before she got to reading, she took another look at the library, soaking it all in. She decided to go grab another book from the fiction section, wanting to shake things up. She had just grabbed a book about a young witch when she bumped into someone...

'I despise Potions'

Noa huffed as she browsed between every shelf that had the catalog of potion ingredients in it. The homework about several kinds of dittanies had been brutal and her essay had been so convoluted that it was by Merlin and Circe's grace that she even managed to scrape an E .

The piles of homework that were presented to them despite the holidays were absolute torture and it was entirely her fault for putting off most of her workload at the last minute (even though she happily finished Charms and Defense Against the Dark Arts assignment as early as she could) and now she had to miss an outing with Lucie and Aliana to Diagon Alley.

Her arms are now heavy with books she will never read for casual enjoyment and her raven feather quill is tucked behind her ear as the burden of having to write an entire essay about salves and bezoar. Really, they can just cast Episkey on the wound and it will be right as rain!

A voice that eerily sounded like Mother berated her at the back of her head, stating that all subjects are important and shouldn't be waved off just because she had a hard time understanding them, like Astronomy... and Flying class. The thought of classes made the Slytherin remember Elodie's ambition of being a Magizoologist and the Forsyther heiress hoped that her Ravenclaw friend's adjust to life at Hogwarts seamlessly, especially since she's a Muggle-born.

Without thinking, or more precisely looking, at her surroundings, Noa managed to let out a strangled squeak as she felt the weight of another person that she accidentally bumped into-

"Oh dear, I am dreadfully sorry!" she gasped.

She turned to her left and saw another girl with short blond hair with glasses holding a book in her hand. Heat bloomed on her cheeks as she gave a short bow of her head and apologized yet again, "I should've been more aware of my surroundings, I am truly sorry! You're not hurt are you?"

Minnie blushed hard as she realized what she had done. "No, I am so sorry. I wasn't looking where I was going...and I bumped into you." She picked up her book. That was embarrassing, I hope I and her put it behind us. She smiled to hide her blush. "Um...I'm definitely good...as in not hurt...er..." Minnie blushed-if possible-harder. Why can't I talk to people? She thought. Forcing herself to try again, she looked back up at the girl.

Does she think I'm insane? Maybe I can find some common ground. Minnie swallowed hard. "So...since we're obviously all good and not hurt..can we put this behind us? And to start it off-if you agree of course-I'll tell you my name." She finished, talking very fast. "My name is Minnie Duke....if you don't mind....could you tell me yours?" She bit her lip, hoping the girl didn't mind her speedy way of talking when she was nervous.

This is going well. The dark side of her voice said. Nope. I'm going to think about not stressful and bad things. It is going fine. We'll talk about books and become friends in a perfect world, so it'll be fine. Minnie sternly told off the voice in her head. Now all she could do is hope the girl wouldn't mind.
