Tori started at the Hogwarts Express in fascination. She had never been on a train before and her first train adventure was going to a magic school.

"I forgot that this excitement is such a special feeling. How are you feeling, sweetie?"

"I feel like I'm going to throw up and excited. But more excited. "

Her father, standing on the other side, was looking as fascinated as Tori. Because he was a Muggle, he was seeing this world new.

"It's like a new world. I didn't think it would be this much when you told me. I still can not believe it."

When the train whistle rang, his mother Vera gave Tori her belongings and started talking.

“You write us letters every weekend, if something important happens you tell the professors or the building prefecet of house and you behave yourself, understand?"

She just nodded her head yes. She hugged her mother and father one last time and joined the crowd of students boarding the train.

When she finally got on the train, he felt like his magic school adventure had begun. When she found an empty compartment, she immediately entered and placed her belongings. Now it felt like her heart was going to explode with excitement.

Willow's father gave her a squeeze as she prepared to board the scarlet Hogwarts Express. The air was fresh with the smell of excitement- people ran too and fro, towing trunks, owls, and yelling at their friends. Willow was nervous and excited- though the more so the former than the latter. She had never been away from her parents long before, and being a pretty shy person, she was scared to meet all the new people.

Her father gave her a kiss on the head. "You'll be fine, sweetheart," Her father said. "Send us letters whenever you feel like it. And make sure to tell us your house after the sorting! Beidh muid bródúil asaibh is cuma cén," He added in Irish, their native language. We will be proud of you no matter what. Willow nodded and tugged at her shirt. Her father had been a Gryffindor, and all her siblings Slytherins- she couldn't help but wonder what house she would be put in. She certainly didn't feel very brave or ambitious.

Her mam, a muggle, wasn't there today- she was a nurse at muggle hospitals and had to work. Willow wished she had been there- her mam was a very kind person who never failed to make her feel at ease. Willow forced a smile, said goodbye to her father one last time, and pulled her trunk up onto the train. Now, there was a new question- where to sit. Willow didn't know anyone going to Hogwarts and was hoping to find a compartment where she could sit alone and read. As she walked down the aisle, she saw most of the compartments were already full of people. A tall boy with bleach-blond hair jostled into her arm and she fought to stay upright.

There! A compartment- it was the only one she could find that wasn't slammed with students. There was only one girl in it, who looked to be a first-year as well and with red hair like Willow. She slid open the door and stepped inside, lugging her trunk behind her. She sat down quickly, brushed a wavy lock of hair from her face, and pulled out her book.

She wanted to say hello to the girl sharing her compartment, but she was too nervous- so she settled for reading. Perhaps the girl would be friendly, and Willow could make her first friend on her Hogwarts journey.

Finally, it's the day I'm going to discover the magic school but first I have to get on the train. I hug my parents big and jump on the train just in time. As soon as I get on, the train starts and I realize that I have just turned a page in my life. I went from the world of people without magical powers to that of sorcerer's apprentices. I no longer belong to the same world as my parents and I don't really regret it, I will be able to start everything from scratch. The only thing I regret is that to go to this school, I had to leave my two best friends but hey I will surely make others so I don't have to worry.

I start wandering around the train looking for an empty compartment but there is none. So I have no choice but to sit next to two other people. When I sit down, I tell them:
"Hi, I'm settling in, there are no other places."
I hope it won't be too long because I might get bored. I haven't taken anything to occupy myself and so I decide to start the conversation:
"It’s the first time I go there. And you ? Do you know a little about magic ? I don't know anything but I'm eager to learn."

While Victoria was wondering if anyone would come, she looked at the girl who came when the compartment door opened. She had red hair like him and was dragging a trunk. She watched her settle down. She waited for her to speak, but when she saw that he started reading her book, Tori thought maybe she didn't like talking and started that dialogue.

"Hey quiet girl. What are you reading? Is what you read good? What's it about? I guess you don't like talking, it seems, but we're in the same compartment so we can at least get to know each other, right? My name is Victoria but my family calls me Tori. What is your name? Do you have a nickname?"

She asked all the questions that crossed her mind, but it didn't even take her a minute to ask them all. When she got bored, she took her bag from above and started drawing the flower she saw in her father's greenhouse the other day, as best he remembered it.

When the train finally started to move, she looked up from his drawing and started looking out the window with excitement. When another girl started talking, she realized that someone else had come into the compartment

"Of course you can sit. Of course, if it's okay for the quiet girl"

A friendly figure smiled and continued her drawing. After a while of silence, she was relieved when the silence was broken by the girl's speech, because this silence was now starting to feel suffocating.

"I'm going for the first time too. My mother is a witch and my father is Muwggle. Since my father is not a wizard, I don't have any knowledge either, but it would be great to learn. This makes me both excited and want to vomit."

Willow looked up from her book to see the red-haired girl who was sharing her compartment begin to speak.

"Hey quiet girl. What are you reading? Is what you read good? What's it about? I guess you don't like talking, it seems, but we're in the same compartment so we can at least get to know each other, right? My name is Victoria but my family calls me Tori. What is your name? Do you have a nickname?"
She said. Wow, she talked really fast. Maybe she could make up for Willow's shyness. She gave a small smile.

"My name's Willow, and I'm reading the Land of Stories. I think it's pretty good," She answered, and the train began to make its way out of the station. Willow felt a pang of sadness at the thought of leaving her home and family. he would miss her parents- perhaps not her older siblings- and her house. As she was thinking of this, another girl, one with brown hair, came into the compartment.

"Hi, I'm settling in, there are no other places." She said, and Willow looked up from her book. "It’s the first time I go there. And you ? Do you know a little about magic ? I don't know anything but I'm eager to learn." she added.

Tori gave her response, then Willow said, "Well, my dad's a wizard, so I know some about magic, and I've been reading the school books." She said quietly. These girls seemed nice enough, and didn't appear bothered by Willow's quietness. The train was moving at a steady pace now, and Willow felt her anxiety mount. What would Hogwarts be like? Would she make any friends? Would these people be her friends?

"So, um," She said, wondering if she should say something else. "Do either of you know which house you want to be in? I think I'm hoping for Ravenclaw,"

The two girls accept me in their wagon. They both answer my question. I must be more confused than her because they both have at least one wizard parent. One of the two, the one who has just put down her book, talks about house and Ravenclaw. I don't understand, Hogwarts is not a castle and what is Ravenclaw? I ask them: "Wait, Hogwarts isn't a castle? And what is Ravenclaw? If you talk about house in the plural, does that mean the students are separated?"
I am very confused and have no idea what she is talking about. Maybe one of the two will be able to enlighten me. I'm still furious with myself for being so ignorant. The answers to the questions I just asked can probably be found in one of the books they made us buy to get her back. At the same time, what's the idea of making us buy books that no one wants to read? Well, some people may have read it, but I would never read it. I don't see the point in reading a book, they don't have to explain it to us orally.
I turn towards the young girls who share her carriage and looks them straight in the eyes.

"Wow I've never read it. It sounds like a lot of fun. Maybe you can give it to me after you read it. Then we can talk about the book. How are the plants there? "

She spoke in a slightly excited voice. She was always open to new things and met new friends, none of whom lent him a book and never talked about it.

"Wait a minute. Wasn't Hogwarts a normal boarding school? Was it a castle? Are there houses there? How many do you have? Ravenclaw what? Is it a castle like in fairy tales? They're definitely weird. I became much more curious"

She asked all the questions on his mind. She spoke very quickly again, because she was ignorant about these wizarding matters and because it was a very idle moment. She looked at her notebook hopefully. There were many plant pictures in this notebook. Most of them were the plants her father had drawn in his room, and now he would draw plants that even her father had never seen.

Meanwhile, an old woman came with a car full of sweets. "Do you want anything, kids?" She looked at the other girls.

"Uhm can you recommend something with chocolate?" She wanted to try a chocolate wizard dish.

As Victoria was speaking, Willow tugged her sleeves over her hands- a nervous habit that she had picked up as a young child and never shaken. It was something she did alost unconsciously in social situations. She nodded along, trying her best to sound polite.

"You can read my book, if you want."
The Irish lass said softly to Victoria when she asked. Willow was a little intimidated by all the questions being shot her way, but he tried her best to explain what she knew about Hogwarts.

"We- we all get sorted into houses, which are Gryffindor, the brave ones, Ravenclaw, the intelligent, Hufflepuff, the loyal, and Slytherin, the ambitious." She felt her face burn slightly and shook some of her vivid red hair in front of it to block her embarrassment. "And yes, Hogwarts is a castle. Um, we're almost there I think, so we should see soon." The train had been going for quite a while, which meant they must be close, but the thought of arriving twisted Willow's insides into a panicky mess.

The trolley woman arrived at their compartment, but Willow shook her head at her, not feeling very hungry. Her stomach had begun doing flips, her nerves getting the better of her, and she hugged her book tighter to her chest.

"No, thank you," She said quietly and looked to the floor, hoping desperately that school would feel more like home than her anxiety was telling her it would.
