She was walking along the edge of the lake, stepping with one foot exactly over the other and her arms out. It would have looked like she was doing it to keep her balance but she was actually enjoying the slight breeze hitting her arms and face, knocking the strands of hair out of her face and behind her. It wasn't windy enough to be very cold, and the sun was still shining brightly overhead.
She beamed and enjoyed the peace of the lake. She loved being around the lake, whether it was sitting under a tree reading or studying, or it was skipping rocks on the shore, or walking along the side, or sketching, she loved it. She'd done so many things there. She'd done almost everything except for swimming. It was one of her favorite spots.

Swimming had never been one of Renelle’s favourite things to do, but she was quickly changing that.
To start with, the first year had never bothered to learn the sport back at home, and a near-drowning incident back when she first came here certainly didn’t lift her impression of it either. Especially after the Fall Ball, when those Grindylows had decided to attack out of nowhere- yeah, Renelle definitely wasn’t a swimming advocate.
But it did seem like quite a nice day for some rule-breaking by swimming, and the Ravenclaw never had been one to turn down a chance for that. Which is how she found herself standing at the edge of the Great Lake, steeling herself to get in.
Ugh, what the hell. Cautiously, she wadded in, still clad in school robes. She’d decided she was just going to walk in for a little while, not too far - she did not need to almost drown for the third time in her first two months of school - then get out. There wasn’t really any particular reason as to why the girl was doing this, really - boredom and certain disregard for rules were a dangerous combination.
For a moment, she briefly wondered if she ought to have filled her friend Astra in on this; after all, it was always nice to have backup in case one faced peril, such as another wild animal attack. Well, nothing she could do about it now. All she could was hope for the best.Interacting with @Madi McQuade

Madi watched her as she waded carefully into the lake, as if scared it would swallow her up at any moment. Maybe she was just scared about breaking the rules, though. The girl kept going, not deep enough to have a risk of drowning. At least she was being careful.
Madi didn't think it would be pleasant to swim in the lake this time of year. The lake was certainly freezing.
Madi instinctively looked around for teachers or prefects that might see her. She's smarter than to do this with teachers around. Madi told herself, hoping this was true. She thought it must be, seeing as the girl was a Ravenclaw.
"Hey!" she called over to the girl. "What are you doing?" Madi had never judged those who enjoyed breaking rules too harshly, she just had never really wanted to partake in the activity herself. She was too much of a rule-follower. She had always been worried about getting into trouble, ever since she was a little kid.
