I walked into the potions classroom and found an empty seat to sit down. Classes had started for about a month none and I began to find out that magic wasn't just waving your wand around and saying a few funny words. The class I liked the most was Charms and DADA. Herbology was also ok but I hated Astronomy and Transfiguration. Astronomy because of all the difficult words to remember. Transfiguration because there was way too much science involved. Potions was neutral for me, if it was a practical then it was pretty interesting but if it was just taking notes then it was boring as hell. A boy with brown hair and blue eyes sat on the seat next to me. On his robe was a green and silver crest. I didn't pay much attention to him started to listen to the professor

I wrote lines after lines of notes on my parchment until my fingers were numb. I ripped off a piece of parchment and wrote 'Hi, what's your name? with a drawing of a hand waving on it and slide it to the boy next to me. Hopefully he doesn't crumple it all up and ignore it. Although if he does this isn't the first time this has happened.

Potions, potions, potions...

One of the subjects taught at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry that is most captivating. For the Slytherin boy, all the combining of different ingredients to create something new was just another level of interest. He was quietly taking notes during today's lesson while Professor Regan did her finest work. Atlas truly felt the urge to flourish in his classroom and lessons.

Nevertheless, Atlas continued to take notes and never seemed to mind anything; even the smallest things were noteworthy in this classroom. He continued writing the details until he came to a parchment that asked for his name. Glancing over at the boy seated next to him, he could tell by his crest that he belongs to the Gryffindor house. Atlas cleared his throat silently avoided any possible disruptions or drawing attention to himself. Taking the quill he used to take notes, he wrote, "Hello, my name is Atlas Anderson. How are you?" giving the other boy a quick smile and sidelong glance. He then moved the note into the center of their desk and resumed taking notes on the lessons the professor had presented, turning his focus back to the professor.

"Hm, who is he?," the Slytherin boy wondered but decided upon pushing the thought aside and not dwell on it.

After passing the note I glanced briefly at his reaction before going back to quietly taking notes. I listened to, I believe the professor's name was Professor Regan drone on and on about the different ingredients, what to do when brewing a potion and stuff like that. As I was about to fall asleep, the note slide back onto my table and on it said. "Hello, my name is Atlas Anderson. How are you?"
Atlas? Wasn't that a guy in Greek mythology? Wasn't he the... the titan that was cut into a million pieces, no that was Kronos. Oh yeah he was the titan that had to hold up the sky. I remember being taught that by my Year 6 teacher. That's a weird name. It definitely isn't the first name that comes to mind. Is his family really that into Greek mythology? I quickly scribbled "I'm good but a little bored by the class. Isn't Atlas some guy in Greek Mythology?" and slid it back across.
Was that a bit straightforward and rube? Yes. Yes it was but I didn't realize that until after I slid it on to his table. To make this worse, I forgot to tell him my name as well. This is gonna be awkward. He know probably thinks I'm some weird kid that makes friends by passing notes in class.

To be honest, half of the stuff we learned at Hogwarts only opened up new fascinations, so potions class wasn't particularly awful after all. Atlas was not a very good cook. When him and his father were making soup one day, he decided to try something new, so he added a lot of salt, which was very disastrous to their taste buds.

Although the potions weren't all that horrible, the making process was rather intense. Pitch perfect is something that singers talk about, and everything in potions class had to be amount-perfect. On top of that, he was forbidden from using the stove at home, and now look, heis brewing something magically. That is another level of being cool.

He couldn't help but grin a little when he read the note that had been passed down to him. Taking the note, he wrote, "You know, potions are captivating, including the class, so imagine being bored, Haha. In any case, it beats me, to be honest—what Atlas means. I never asked my parents what it means, too. Could you tell me? (: "
He then slid the note back to, uh—what's his name, again?—he asked himself. He became aware that he had forgotten to inquire the name of the other boy. However, he hopes that he can ask him who he was in the middle of their written-conversation

I had to listen more to the professor droning on and on about the potion for curing boils and whatnot. Fortunately, the parchment slid back I quickly opened it and read it. I glanced at the prof to see if she could see what was going. I also looked around at the other students for snitches. The students here don't look like snitches but you never know. All I could see were students bending down and scribbling on their piece of parchment. Safe. "You know, potions are captivating, including the class, so imagine being bored, Haha. In any case, it beats me, to be honest—what Atlas means. I never asked my parents what it means, too. Could you tell me? (: "
I ripped off a new piece as the old one had ran out of space and quickly scribbled a message. "Potions are fun when we brew our own potions but it's boring when we have to take notes, like now. I think Atlas was the guy that had to hold up the sky but I'm not sure, I'm not really that into Greek Mythology. By the way, my name's Alejandro Garcia if you're wondering."
I slid it back across and thankfully I introduced myself. That really shouldn't have taken 40 minutes of class. I wonder when we can start to brew our own potion again. I know that you have to learn the theory first and blah blah blah, but I feel like we have already learned the theory enough and it's time to start brewing.
