 Closed  a possible new friend
I sat alone in my compartment on the Hogwarts Express, my heart pounding with excitement and nerves. The train whistle blew, signaling our departure from Platform 9 3/4. I pressed my palms against the frosty window, watching as the scenery flew by in a blur. Thoughts of magic and friendships filled my mind, leaving me lost in a daydream.
Suddenly, the compartment door slid open, jolting me back to reality. A shy-looking girl with wavy chestnut hair stood there, clutching her robes nervously. I blinked, slightly taken aback by her appearance. Slowly, she entered, her eyes fixed on the floor.
"Um is it okay if I...sit here?" she murmured, her voice barely audible.
I smiled warmly, motioning for her to take a seat. "Of course! I'm Ivy. What's your name?"
She hesitated for a moment before answering, "I'm Ulaine. Nice to meet you, Ivy."
As Ulaine settled down, I couldn't help but notice a sadness in her eyes. Curiosity piqued, I decided to start a conversation. "So, Ulaine, are you excited about Hogwarts? What do you think it'll be like?"
Ulaine glanced up, surprise evident in her expression. "Excited? Well... I am, kind of. But, my dad... he died during the Battle of Hogwarts. It's just my mom and me now," she admitted, her voice tinged with sadness.
My heart went out to Ulaine, and I reached over to squeeze her hand gently. "I'm sorry to hear that, Ulaine. But remember, Hogwarts is a place where we can make new friends and create wonderful memories. And who knows? Maybe we'll become the best of friends!"
A small smile graced Ulaine's lips, and her eyes seemed to shimmer with gratitude. "Thank you, Ivy. That means a lot to me."
As the train chugged along, Ulaine shared more about her life. I learned that her mom had to face the challenges of raising Ulaine on her own. Listening to her story, I admired Ulaine's strength and resilience.
The train whistle blew again, signaling our arrival at Hogwarts. Ulaine and I exchanged excited glances, ready to embark on this new chapter of our lives.
