You did WHAT?
Clair had turned 14 just a couple days ago, It was a very scary idea if she was being honest. She had also started her third year at Hogwarts. That was not nearly as scary.September 26th 2023
The prefect had been expecting to get a owl from her sister for the whole week, her sister had never missed her birthday before. The fact that she had not even heard from her sister since the start of the school year was unnerving, the girl was scared something had happened to her sister. Izzy had been ignoring Clair even more than normal but she was about ready to wait for Izzy at the great hall entrance, her sister would eventually need to eat.
She had made a habit of coming to the owlery twice a day to check if anything had come. Today was no different, she had just got out of the last class of the day and had dropped off her stuff in her dorm before heading for the owlery. She did not expect there to be anything, if she was being honest she felt like she was not going to get anything.
When she entered she noticed a small brown owl sitting in the window holding a letter, it looked like he had just landed. "Oh hey buddy!" She quickly walked up to the owl, hoping and praying the letter was from her sister. "who is this for?" the owl spat out the letter and Clair saw it said her name in neat writing. FINALLY!
She patted the owl's head and gave him a treat, before picking up the letter and quickly opening it.
She started to read:
Clair read the letter once, twice, and a third time. Each time slowly crumpling up the paper more. How. Could. Belle. do. that!Dear Clair,
I know its been a while since I've written but I have a good reason which I am sure you'll be overjoyed to hear! But first, Happy Birthday! I can't believe your 14 now! My how time flies! I could not think of anything to give you for your birthday, so instead of a gift, I thought I'd give you some info that might peak your interest! As I am sure you remember, we agreed to leave the letter from Mum to your father locked away in the drawer until you felt ready to talk to him. I decided it would be ok for me to reach out to him and see if his address was still valid. Turns out it is! I received a letter back this morning (September 13th) and he wrote one to you, I taped it to the envelope. I did not open it, so I have no idea what it says. He seems like a very wonderful man, he gave me his email and we have been talking a bunch lately. Please read the letter and when you are ready, please write a letter back. He currently thinks you are at a school that does not allow Tech for student growth, so he knows you can only be reached via letter.
Much Love,
Belle.
She was oddly calm, She opened the envelope and seen the second envelope taped to the inside, she had missed it the first time.
The front had curly writing which was not perfectly neat but readable. It was addressed to Miss Clair Fernandez and then her Address at home. Of course it was, had she expected it to be addressed to Hogwarts? She stuffed the letter in her pocket, not ready to read it. She wanted to digest the letter from her sister first.

You did WHAT?
Yesterday a certain Ravenclaw had gotten a letter from a certain sister about a certain man. She had spent most of that night mulling over the letter, not ready to read what Sebastian St-Pierre had said, not ready to hear what seemed to be a dark family secret.September 27th 2023
But as anyone who knew Clair knew, she hated not knowing stuff when the answer was right there. As the night progressed she got more and more curious about what the letter said. By about six in the morning the Prefect was sure that sleep was no longer a option, and she quietly got up.
She knew she had to reply back to her sister, and the sooner the better, and depending on how she felt maybe she would write a letter to Sebastian as well. She made her way up the stairs towards the owlery, at this time in the morning it was empty other than the owls and it was the perfect time to read the letter and write back in peace.
She sat down and opened the letter from her father, the paper smelled funny, it was perfectly smooth and very white, something she had forgotten paper did after using parchment for so long with it's slight grit and yellowed colour. Her sister used parchment at home for letters as well, so she rarely touched the muggle paper.
The letter was long, and there was multiple pages to read. Clair took a deep breath and started to read:
Clair wiped a tear from her cheek, somehow the letter had moved her. Did she want to talk to him? no. But she now realized that she was not the only one caught up in this mess, she was only the product of this mess. This poor man deserved to get answers as much as she did. Clair closed her eyes tight and felt another hot tear fall down her cheek. "What a mess, oh what a mess" she sighed.Dear Clair,
I never imagined I would write a letter of this style in my life, as I am sure you never thought you would read one like this. I know your sister said that you did not want to talk to me, but I wanted to try contacting you. I figured it was worth a shot at least. I also know that your sister said your school has a no technology rule, so we will have to resort to letters, which is slow and I am quiet frankly disappointed that we can not just email or text back and forth. Anyways, As I am sure you know already, my name is Sebastian St-Pierre and I had a relationship with your dear mother. I won't go into detail on our relationship as I am sure you could careless, but I will tell you that I never realized she was in a relationship with another man, Jake Fernandez, and she never told me that Isabelle and Belle were her own children. I of course grieved when your mother ran away to the UK, and no matter how much I begged her family for more information on where she had gone but they all refused to tell me, only saying she had moved away to the UK for work. I has assumed and hoped she would return back to me one day, So I stayed in the same house that I lived in when she lived around here, and I never dated or got married. I have been waiting years for her to return and it saddens me deeply to know that she passed soon after writing that letter. I understand you do not want to talk to me, but I would at least like to ask that we take a DNA test to prove if we are really related and that I am in fact your father. I would be willing to send you a kit which would require no blood, just some saliva.
If you agree to take the test, I will buy one and send it to you so it costs you nothing. If it does show that we are in fact father/daughter we can figure out what you want to do at that point.
With that I will sign off,
With Care,
Sebastian.
As much as she hated to admit it, she too was interested to know if she was really this man's biological daughter, and she knew that if she did not agree to take a DNA test, she would wonder about it for the rest of her life. She pulled out some parchment and started to write back to Sebastian:
She was careful to make sure she did not give any important information or seem like she cared at all, she hated the idea of giving him vibes of caring and making him hopeful, he already seemed too hopeful.Sebastian,
I will admit I am not happy about what my sister did, going behind my back to contact you after knowing fully well I did not want any contact, but seeing as it would be rude to leave you hanging I decided write back. I will start by saying that I am perfectly happy not having technology at school, it gives one a perfect chance to detox from the semi toxic and lazy world of the internet, while also giving everyone at school a chance to repair their bond with books and studying the proper way, so don't feel sorry for me.
I am not going to write my life story out for you, but I will agree to a DNA test. I do hope it will give us solid proof as to if we are related or not. I think that is all I need to say for now.
Have a good day,
Clair Fernandez.
She sealed the letter up and wrote his home address down on the front, she would send it to her sister and her sister could forward it to Sebastian's address, before handing the letter to one of the school's owls that seemed fresh enough for the trip. She would write her sister later.

You did WHAT?
Clair had heard nothing from her sister nor Sebastian St-Pierre since she had sent the last letter.October 15th 2023
Who knew how long it took to get a letter from Carlisle to Red Deer, Clair was not familiar with Royal Mail in any sense, If she had to send any mail she used Owls instead of the muggle ways.
Clair had not expected any mail to arrive that morning either, in all honesty she had almost completely given up on the idea of getting mail from anyone. But as she sat at breakfast when the Owls were dropping mail off a particularly grumpy owl dropped a small box on her head.
"Ow!" Clair rubbed her head a little and then picked up the box off of her plate, the corner which had been sitting in her waffles was sticky from the syrup. She wiped most of the syrup off and wolfed down the rest of the waffles. Once breakfast was taken care of Clair picked up the semi sticky box and ran up to her dorm to open it.
When she bad finally sat down and opened the box, she saw that there was a letter and a smaller box.
She started to read the letter:
Clair cringed at the letter, it was awkward at its best, and just flat out embarrassing and weird at its worst. She quickly opened the DNA kit and followed its instructions before putting it back in the packaging and pulling out some paper.Dear Clair,
As I said I would, I sent a DNA test, its in the small box.
Once you've done your part just send it back to me and I'll take care of it, I have it set to send the results to us both, I was thinking that maybe we could open it together over the holidays? I can't wait to get proof that you are my daughter and that part of your mother still lives on!
Not much has changed since we last conversed, at least on my end. How are your grades?
Much Love,
Sebastian.
Her reply was short and on point, she had no need to write something long winded, she'd save that for the poor professors who had to grade her homework.
She sealed the letter and headed to the Owlery to employ a owl to send her letter off.Sebastian,
I got the test, and completed it. Must be one of the quickest tests I've completed in my life. I would of course be fine with video chatting and opening the results, however i can't guarantee I'll be able to wait that long, if i left it in my dorm too long one of the girls might take it. No matter the outcome of the test my Mum still lives on, She created me and my Sisters no matter who the man in the relationship was.Nothing has changed.
My grades are fine as they always are, please don't ask about my personal life, its really weird.
Yours,
Clair.
