Preptober Prompts (Week 4, Extra Prompt 4)

1. The Magician
Character Prompt: Write about your character performing a trick of some sort, or a daring feat. Will it work? Will they get into trouble for doing it?
Setting Prompt: Write about a fair or carnival visiting your setting. Does it effect the setting? If so, how?

Its now mid-spring, and a carnival comes to town! There is always an annual carnival around this time where Emeline lives in Indiana, sounds fun! She’s never gone before, her parents have always said that it would be dangerous, but Emeline never understood how. It made her pretty upset that she was never allowed to go, but she always listened to them. One night her friends call her and ask if she would like to go with them, she tells them that she would love to, but isn’t allowed to go. Her friends are also pretty disappointed, knowing that it would be fun, but understand that she can’t. Emeline is already 15 though, and her parents are still not letting her go, so she decided to talk to them about it again. Like she had assumed, her mom and dad would not let her go. She asked them why, their reasons barely made sense, like there were too many people, she had only known her friends for less than a year, it would be late. She was kind of mad at them, so she called her friends back. Emeline told them that she was going to go anyways. One carnival night, she told her parents that she was going to stay at her friends house. They let her leave, but when she arrived, they all left to go. She didn’t think it was that bad, it wasn’t like a party or anything. Emeline had lots of fun, but when they got back to her friends house, her parents were there. They took her back home and of course got very mad at her. Emeline apologized, and her parents mostly forgave her, but warned her not to do it again.
