Hey, the seat next to me is free
Delilah was never exactly good at History Of Magic, or any subject on History, for all that mattered. She could never remember the dates and events that happened, though perhaps it might’ve been due to the fact that she never really cared to. Taking out her bag, she whisked out a small sketchbook she always left underneath her notebook, just in case she felt the need to doodle something.
Today was no different, though this lecture seemed to be more boring than the last. The professor seemed to be talking about something in an almost robotic, monotone voice and she thought he had a knack for turning the most exciting historic events into dreary tales and long lectures.
“No point in taking notes, I’ll never look at it”, Delilah thought to herself, stifling out a small chuckle as she thought so. She tried to find something fun to do to pass the time, though there wasn’t really anything to do. She tried playing with her pen, clicking it constantly every five seconds and only to receive a few annoyed glares from a few fellow Ravenclaws. She tried looking out the window, trying to take a look at the scenery around but as her window was covered by an abnormally large tree, she couldn’t see a single thing.
Taking out her notebook, Delilah started doodling and scribbling down drawings, also running down the list of things she’d rather be doing instead of listening to the lecture.
“The professor was going on and on about some event that happened long ago, and whoever was present was probably dead by now. I can’t care less”, She thought. Skimming through the textbook, Delilah started annotating on the book, drawing directly onto the portraits of figures displayed inside.
After what seemed like forever, she saw a young boy, a bit taller than her, though she guessed he was around her age, made his way into class.
“He’s late”, she noted to herself, before waving her hands and gesturing to the only seat available- the one next to her.

The world is quiet here, and the air is full of the delicious aroma of freshly baked bread and mischief.

Luke was most definitely not looking forward to History Of Magic. It was the one subject at Hogwarts that was just as boring as the Muggle classes he had taken back home, and didn't particularly understand the point of it. What good would it do him to know who exactly took a sip of tea at 9:37 in 1400 BC?
Sighing immensely, the young Hufflepuff entered the History Of Magic classroom, also known as The Room Where Fun Went To Die. It wasn't a very bright room, as the windows were ever so slightly tinted, and dust seem to collect wherever Luke looked- on top of bookshelves, on desks, chairs- even his robes were a bit dustier than the usual by the time he left the classroom! Nothing about this experience was something he looked forward to.
It was worth noting this time that Luke was also a few minutes late. He had gotten preoccupied searching the library for short books on magical creatures when he had realized he had less than a minute to get to this class, which was multiple moving staircases and confusing corridors away. Luke desperately searched the room for an empty, trying to ignore the piercing stares of almost every other student in here.
Just as he was about to give up, the first year noticed a sweet-looking Ravenclaw girl waving her hand, beckoning to a seat next to her that was open. Releif surged through Luke as he hastily made his way to the open desk, awkwardly stumbling over his own feet at points until he finally reached it.
Luke glanced over at the girl, nodding thankfully to her when something caught him by surprise- her surgingly bright violet eyes. 'Whoa,' the young boy thought, now rather self-concious of his plain green ones.
"Erm, thanks for showing me the empty seat... also your eyes are really neat," he whispered quickly, smiling and hoping the professor didn't hear him. "Were you, like, born with them or something?" he asked, then realising that was a stupid question. She, of course, didn't have purple contacts in. 'Great going, me,' he thought to himself.
