Preptober Prompts 2023 Week 3, Extra Prompt

7. The Fool
Character Prompt: Write about your character trying something new for the first time. Do they enjoy it? Are they good at it, or do they need to practice more?
Setting Prompt: Write about a new traveller arriving at your setting. What do they think of the place?

Fifteen year old Emeline has just told her old friends that she does not want them back. They are not happy with her, and get mad at her for not taking them back, calling her names, insulting her. She feels upset now because a part of her really wants to forgive them and forget all that they have done to her in the past and become friends again. She feels like she may have just lost a big part of her life for years forever now. The other part tells her that she did the right thing and she doesn’t need them ever. Because of this, she doesn’t feel very good, quite upset with everything, back to how she was. Some of her new friends notice this and feel bad, so they go and talk to her. With a little bit of persuading, they manage to talk her into going out and having some fun with them. They surprise her with going to a rollerskating rink. Emeline had never gone any type of skating before in her life, which her friends knew. They wanted to get her out and trying something new so that hopefully she would forget about Bailey and Ava. They get her some roller skates and get in the rink. At first Emeline isn’t too happy, since she doesn’t know how to skate at all, but pretty quickly she starts to realize it’s actually pretty fun! Her friends help her get going, and after just a few minutes she’s able to do it as long as she can hold onto one of her friends for help. The girls have tons of fun. Emeline learns to do it completely by herself within some time, and she finds out that it’s super fun. They all have a blast and tons of laughs, especially when Emeline falls, which is pretty often. She turns out to be a lot better than they all had expected, and is able to do it pretty quickly. Her friends plan worked and Emeline forgot about her troubles for a while and just enjoyed the moment and her time with her good, real friends. Afterwards, she thanked them for such a fun time, and wanted to possibly go again, since the night was so fun. She realized that she really didn’t need Bailey and Ava, since she has true people who actually loved her and made her happy.
