Preptober Prompts (Week 2, Prompt 1)

5. The High Priestess (wc: 407/400)
Character Prompt: Write about your character giving advice, or taking advice from someone. Is it good advice?
Setting Prompt: A soothsayer/oracle passes through your setting. Do they have any prophecies to tell? Any good signs, or concerning omens?

Emeline was all alone now, no friends to help her. From recently loosing her friends of many years, she wasn’t feeling the greatest. She really didn’t know what she was going to do about it, about anything. Emeline was very unhappy by herself, but she wasn’t sure how she would make any friends now, since everyone had had friendships for years at this point. She stayed alone for so long, but her parents didn’t like to see her upset. Her dad sat her down and had a talk with her. He told her to subtly talk to people, like complimenting them, or asking them about their day. At first, Emeline was still pretty nervous to start a conversation, but she trusted her dad, so she listened to him. The next day at school, she did exactly as her father had said, she went up to a girl known for being nice and told her her outfit was cute. The girl thanked her and complimented her back. This motivated Emeline and helped her see it wasn’t that hard. For the next few weeks, she worked on talking to people she wouldn’t usually talk to, and slowly she did start to make friends, just as her father had said she would! Emeline just remembered everything her dad had told her, and did her best. Even though sometimes when it would get hard to talk, and she would consider trying to back to her old friends, Emeline didn’t. Her dad had told her not to, and reminded her about how they made her feel, and she knew that she never wanted to feel a that way ever again. Months had past and Emeline social life had already grown so much, and she was super happy. She was glad that she had listened to her father, his advice had really helped her come a long way. She had some friends better than the rest, but she always made sure to be treated correctly. After what she had been through with her old friends, Emeline knew never to go back there with anyone, and made herself clear with how she wanted to be treated. She thanked her father for helping her, since it really did. He would always be there to help her and give her advice whenever she needed, with anything. For that, Emeline was always super great full for him, and he had always been like that, which she loved.
