The Wonders of Stress
Ira had always hated the sound of a car stopping, it was ever so squeaky and her ears would ring for what felt like hours afterwards. While she was aware she was likely being over dramatic, that never changed the actual sound.
Slowly halting, her mother’s car would once more make that sound, to which Ira flinched. Liz, as her mother was called, hopped out, pulling the keys out of the car. “Come on now, best not be late,” She called over her shoulder to Ira.
Sighing, she undid her seatbelt. If she purposely shut the car door as hard as she could, hoping but failing to damage her mother’s car, that was her own business. A pain. This is such a pain.
Liz took Ira’s hand in her own and guided her through the station. So, so loud. This absolutely sucks. Ira squeezed her eyes shut as her mother weaved her through the crowds, imagining colours floating about to calm her breathing. Ira didn’t even notice that they had passed through the wall, as when she opened her eyes, they were already at the platform in question.
“Now then, off you go.” Her mother smiled ever so sweetly, pulling her into a tight hug.
Ira nodded into her shoulder, “Kay.”
She stepped onto the train with several dozen second thoughts, but merely sighed. Off to Hogwarts.
