Finished New person, new adventure pv Sherlock Dols

Never a people's person, the first reaction Sherlock sent out when someone new was talking to him was giving said person a shy, welcoming smile, but a little uncertain in its lines as if he was doing a new and unfamiliar thing - which, to be honest, he was: interacting with someone he did not know.

This person seemed to be talkative, first introducing her name and then asking him a series of questions. As per the advice he received from a self-improvement book, the young Belizean repeated his speaking partner's name the first time they got to know each other. "It's a pleasure to meet you, Rose." And then, "I love the name Rose. I'm Sherlock, and yes, it's definitely nice to get to know people from other countries."

Pause. A question about hobby and about cultural shocks, to which he answered, "I like reading stories and riding bicycles, which is a Muggle transportation means. Enjoying desserts, um, sweet treats... if it counts. Not baking them by myself, though. I'm also interested in different cultures, but sometimes I miss the weather back home. Hogwarts is so cold. What about you, Rose?"

It would be a lie to say he did not regret his reply; what if she thought he was lazy and greedy? Would she start laughing at him? Talk about him behind his back, gossiping about him with both people he knew and people he did not know?

Rose proceeded to say more things, and Sherlock merely nodded and smiled as a response. It was not because he was not interested in the words she said, but because he was not sure what to answer verbally. But after that she casually asked whether he was anticipating the interscholastic dance that would be taking place the very next evening, and the Castelobruxo student blushed at this. His flush was not clearly visible, it may kind of look like sunburns on both cheeks.

The answer to her enquiry might be quite funny if one looked at it from the correct view. On one hand, he had a dreamy fantasy of dancing all through the night with his Princess Right, perhaps they could even end the night with a kiss, a very first kiss for him. But on the other hand, he realised that the chance for this dream to turn into a reality was very small; it may be much more likely that he would be talking to no one and no one would talk to him at the party. With that amount of people attending the event, he may not even be able to find the classmates he knew.

At the end, the blond looked back at the brunette, blushes still on cheeks, replying, "I... uh... I'm so-so with it. I mean, it sounds nice and fun, but I don't have any definite plan." He deliberately left out the part that he was not good at initiating conversations with strangers and may not interact with anyone there.

Hearing Rose's invitation, immediately Sherlock started flushing like crazy. "Ball partner?" he repeated in a whisper intended more for her than for himself. "Like... like a date?" Colours intensified in his cheeks and invaded his breast as well, his blush was no sunburn now. And when he gave her his answer, a very simple, one-word "yes", he stuttered to say the mere single word; there may be no other occasion when another person had taken longer than he to pronounce the aforementioned word.

It was lucky for him Rose did not say much more after this, because the Belizean was pretty sure he would not be able to answer properly, not with his heart doing a 200 bmp thump-thump-thump in his chest and all those romantic fantasy swirling around his head. Her next question was very easy to answer, a matter of which school he attended, so he told her it was Castlelobruxo.

It was then they came to the fork on the road, her destination the Ilvermony girls' sleeping quarter, his the Castelobruxo boys'. The brunette gave him a goodbye signal, to which Sherlock replied with a stammering "I'll see you tomorrow". His face felt red-hot all over and he wanted nothing more than to run and pressed his face to his pillow, and so sprinting he went toward his destination, almost jumping at times.
