Letters To Self
September 9th 2023
Dear….me, I guess,
So I’m not exactly sure what this is, actually. Basically I thought it’d be nice to keep some sort of record of my days here, since I just started Hogwarts at all. I admit, the only reason I’m doing this is because I think it’ll be cool to read these things later on. As for why I’m using parchment… well, you can’t just find spare notebooks anywhere here, you know. I don’t like it either, but here we are.
It’s been about a week since I first came here, and so far it’s been all right. A little underwhelming, to tell the truth, with the way everyone hypes this place up so much. I met this girl Alexa on the train, and she’s all right, though she makes me feel kinda dramatic. All in all, she might just become a friend.
The best part was when I saw none other than Astra at breakfast a few days ago. Like, she’s here too? We actually met up again today, and we studied together, which is basically just code for me copying her stuff. There was also this intense battle with a squirrel, who I swear is the devil. Really, WHY does Astra keep insulting animals and making them go crazy? I wouldn’t even be complain this much if they didn’t always end up attacking me. This is why I don’t like animals.
We also hid and scared the shit out of a bunch of random people, which was fun. Shame we didn’t run into Roderick though, or I’d so cymbal him in the face. Kind of depressing that Astra and I are in different houses. Like, why can’t she have been in Ravenclaw? I’m glad I’m not in Slytherin, cuz those seem like a bunch of crazy people, but I do wish Astra could’ve been in mine. Our symbol animal and colours are so much better for one, and I’m pretty sure she’s smart enough, as evidenced by the way she handled the stupid squirrel.
Speaking of insufferable Gryffindors, how is this house producing so many annoying people??? Like, it should be studied at this point. In History of Magic, I was just minding my own business, when this random Gryffindor got all up in my face and started whining about how everyone should be as obsessed as he is. And he cost me a meal too. That’s an hour of my life I’ll never get back. I’ve met some other Gryffindors, none of whom made as horrible an impression, but they certainly weren’t awesome either.
Can’t think of anything else to say so bye,
Eleven year old Renelle
