coming mother! aries called out through her mansion's stained glass windows. the burial was hapepning right outside, and rie couldn't bear it. she wore a midnight black gown with shimmery silver stars scattered around like the night sky. she faced staring into the mirror, holding back tears.

if this was supposed to happen, i would want mother to die rather anyway. she exclaimed bitterly in her mind. she blinked a couple of times getting ready to run out the door and cry. she could already see her mother picking up conversation with other women. fake crying was her talent, if she didnt then nothing would come out. ruin her reputation as saturn would say.

rushing outside not being able to bear, she decided to stop by her mother. oh darling! you are finally out, why dont you talk to ava? saturn seethed. aries gritted her teeth, hearing the fast happy tone. ava? who is that? she asked grumbling. your cousin, be nice her mother died. she has a step mother though. your -- her voice broke at the mention of reese's father. father's brother's daughter. saturn choked out.

she pointed at a girl, seemingly the same age as aries standing there next to the grave. she ran over to escape her mother. better than anything else she thought. she walked to ava and smiled. daughter of matteo, aries. she didnt frown nor smile, but aries put her hand out.

Ava was told that she was going to a funeral for her uncle. An uncle she had never met, along with family she didn’t know. It was her father’s brother, and she seldom saw him after the news was broken. Well, she hardly saw him before that. She preferred to stay away from him, although he was her father. There were days she only saw him at mealtimes, and they barely spoke to each other.

It was the latest news that Alina had been accepted to Hogwarts, and Ava had sighed at the thought of it. What rotten luck that the one place she was away from her family was being invaded by family. Ava had no doubt that Alina would be in slytherin, which seemed to lower her mood even more.

Not to mention the letters from her real mother, which revealed things Ava would be happy not to know. Sometimes Ava wondered what would have happened if she had never performed magic in the first place. Sometimes Ava wished that she hadn’t.

Yet it was too late to change the past, so Ava focused on the future. Whatever that future would be.

When the funeral date finally arrived, Ava was ready. She didn’t expect to know anyone there, and was prepared for a long day. She found a black dress to wear, to fit the occasion, but didn’t dress up further. They caught an early flight into Glasgow, and only brought enough for an overnight stay at a hotel. Ava didn’t even have time to unpack from summer camp, to her annoyance.

When they arrived at the funeral it was what Ava thought to be a moderate size, not that she would know. Ava stuck near her father, although it was only to avoid conversation with others. The crying man seemed to scare away many people, and she played the part of loving daughter well. No one would suspect a thing.

She was almost comfortable when another girl came bounding towards her, taking her off guard with a formal introduction and handshake. It all seemed so pureblood-like that Ava had to remind herself that her uncle was definitely a muggle. “I didn’t realize I had any cousins.” She said softly in a low tone, tilting her head. “Ava Winchect.”

i didnt realize i had any cousins. ava spoke quietly, like she was shy. ava winchect. she said shaking aries's hand. aries smiled and signaled for ava to follow her, running fast to get away from the terrifying scene.

aries couldnt believe what she felt running away with this girl, that she never even knew. slytherin? you give me cold vibes. she somehow felt it the emotions bubbling up. this girl made her feel so happy, calm and peaceful all at the same time. it was like those movies and the songs she listened to. about running away from life, and she could do this all day.

so, how come ive never seen you before? reese had stopped crying now, no wet droplets on her face as she licked up all the salty tears. oh wait.. you should come to the mansion! i must show you around. reese wouldnt normally go up to someone like this and feel comfortable. but she did, so much it felt unreal.

and my father. he is gone. aries still couldnt comprehend the fact that it happened. she frowned to herself, reminding her that the thought itself was horrible. she wouldnt speak of it again. but it brought her to the vivid memory of coming home from her friend's house. and her father was gone.

beloved and tragic, but how could this have happened so quickly. aries hadn't prepared herself emotionally or mentally for this. but ava seemed sweet, like an older sister she never could have.

reese took her inside, showing her the delicacy of each room. pictures on the wall, that were from many years ago because no one took any. but finally she showed a the balcony. all her pictures hung from there, the ones she took with her secret camera. her clothes that she loved more than the frilly gowns her mother forced her to wear.

how long are you staying? rie asked ava, hoping that she satyed for a while. with the sudden tragedy, no one wouldve prepared to stay for long anyways. but ava, she could if she wanted to. though scotland and wngland were farther than these two girls' hearts, she could live.

aries brought out a board game to play. a dusty cardboard box filled with old muggle games. wanna play?
