Dora was on her way to the library when she felt it. Her vision blurred a little and suddenly she felt very wobbly. She caught herself on the wall, thankfully, but she did drop her things. Her inkwell spilled on her dress and the floor. Once her balance returned, she cleaned it up as best she could, using Scourgify on the floor and dress. Her dress is black, so the stain isn't entirely noticeable at least. It'll probably come out in the laundry. Still, how embarrassing! A few people peered at her in the hall as she cleaned up, and she couldn't help picturing her cousin laughing at her.
"Dizzy takes another tumble!" Bradley would say.
Her cheeks tinge pink as she cleans up the mess. Once she's done, she stands again and the dizziness comes back. It doesn't last longer than a few seconds, and she holds onto everything, but now she's worried. 'Could I be getting sick?' She thought, upset at the prospect of falling ill so close to school's resuming. So, reluctantly, she changes her course from the library to the hospital wing.
"Have you eaten much today?" The assistant nurse asks Dora as she sits on a bed, sipping a glass of water. Dora replies quietly. "Um, some toast for breakfast... and I forgot to eat lunch."
"Oh? What were you doing?"
"Studying."
"Do you study a lot? It's spring break, you know."
"Um..." Dora looks down bashfully, "I, um.. I just want to keep up.."
"Hm. Okay." The assistant checks some things off on their chart, then turns back to her. "Good news, you're not ill. You are overworked and low on energy from not eating enough. My recommendation," Recommendation is said in a stern way, implying that it's not really a recommendation, "Is that you go eat a full meal in the dining hall, and you take off the rest of spring break to rest and refresh yourself. No more studying, at least for a few days."
'No more studying?' Dora's apprehension must show on her face, because the assistant nurse gives her a soft, sympathetic look. "Working hard on schoolwork is all well and good, but there's a reason we have school breaks. Everyone needs a rest before they can perform their best."
Not one to argue, Dora just nods and the assistant nurse leaves her to finish her water. Conflicted, she wonders about this diagnosis. 'I have been less focused lately.. but is it really okay to take a break? I don't want to be lazy.. I don't want to disobey the nurse either..'
Just what can Dora do for the rest of spring break if she isn't studying?
