The vast Hogwarts castle seemed to be a buzz with chatter and liveliness. Many students either arrived for breakfast or finished in a haste excited to begin their first day of classes of course for the older students who seemed to be in no rush at all.

The muggy weather outdoors seemed to seep into the gothic style castle known as Hogwarts. The halls felt muggy and sticky as one made their trek through the school. The walls being made of stone seemed as if the muggy weather left condensation dripping slightly down.

The morning birds sang their songs loudly and beautifully echoing throughout the Hogwarts ground. Even the soft cries of returning owls could be heard from the owlery. The lively footsteps of the students echoed melancholy throughout the halls.

As time seemed to move faster Helena walked through the halls of Hogwarts quietly with a pile of textbooks in her arms while a beige satchel rest across her chest relaxing against her right thigh. The young honey blonde haired girl began her trek to class. The first class of the day was Defense Against The Dark Arts. Helena wasn’t excited though no quiet the opposite she dreaded the thought of class being surrounded by other students. The pit of her stomach churned and knotted itself tightly. Her pale face seemed a bit paler as she continued her trek up the stairs.

Lost in her thoughts, Helena was not paying attention when the young girl turned the corner tightly, her small lanky frame bumped into another. Helena lost grip of her books resulting in the books clattering into the ground making a loud thumping sound echoing throughout the hallways. Helena’s frightfully pale face turned a shade of cherry red from embarrassment bending down rather quickly the young girl started grabbing her books quickly as possible.

As Helena kept looking down towards the cobblestone ground the young girl hesitated before speaking.

“I am quite sorry about that. Was not paying a lick of attention.”

Helena spoke in a rather soft regal voice. Her sea blue eyes looked up from her position and knelt on the ground. Helena’s eyes read uncertainty; her honey blonde bangs caressed her face like a swaddle, a few strands hiding her left eye slightly from view. Her soft pale complexion was still a cherry red blush from embarrassment. Her thin lanky fingers wrapped around one of her textbooks as she seemed to examine the poor person she had blindly ran into. Though awaiting a response Helena stayed quiet as a mouse, not even a knife could seem to break the still air surrounding the duo. It seemed a bit overwhelming to Helena though she kept her posture awaiting for the outcome to her actions.

Ayla had grown up on stories about Hogwarts from both her parents and sisters, had stared longingly at paintings and maps for years, and after all that, she still couldn't find her way to her first classroom.

Blowing a strand of blonde hair out of her eyes frustratedly, Ayla hugged her DADA textbooks to her chest tightly as she turned a full circle in the corridor she was in, silently wishing she'd taken up her older sister's offer to show her to her classroom. She'd smiled reassuringly and said, "I'll just go with Twyla! It'll be fine." But somehow she'd been separated from her cousin in the bustling corridors (if she didn't know any better, she would think that Twyla had run off on purpose), and now she barely knew which floor she was on. For Merlin's sake, these corridors all looked the same! Ayla glanced at the passing students and tried to decide which of them looked friendly enough to ask for help.

With a sigh, she began to walk back to Ravenclaw; she was probably going to be late at this point, but if she retraced her footsteps back to a known spot, she would have a better chance of finding her way. Feeling slightly irritated and a little sorry for herself, Ayla turned the corner... and promptly crashed into another student, knocking the books right out of her hands.

"Oh my gosh! I'm so sorry!" Ayla immediately began to apologise, leaning down to help pick up both of their books. She straightened up at the other girl's apology and offered her a smile. "It's ok," she said, not wanting her to feel bad, "I wasn't paying attention either."

She glanced at the other girl's books, noting that they were the same as her own. "Say, do you have Defense Against the Dark Arts first as well?" Ayla asked excitedly. "I cannot figure out for the life of me where the classroom is. All these corridors, they look almost the exact same. Do you know where it is, by any chance?"

Helena gazed softly towards the other first year in front of her biting the other girl’s appearance. Helena took in the stranger's appearance, noting the Ravenclaw attire the other girl wore. Mentally taking notes to herself Helena grabbed the last of her books standing up straight turning to the girl to respond to her question.

“Yes I was on my way to Defense Against the Dark Arts. I believe it’s down this way but I am not for certain. As you mentioned these halls are quite confusing even the books do not give it justice at all.”

Helena spoke in a rather soft elegant voice; her tone was sweet to the ears but held a kind of poise to it. She held her school books rather close to her chest as her honey locks of hair partially covered her left eye. Her sea blue eyes held uncertainty and nervousness. Interacting with people always seemed a challenge to Helena but she always tried her best to interact the best she possibly could.

Helena continued her soft gaze at the other first year girl taking in the girls features with her long blonde hair and features that seemed almost doll-like. Helena felt entranced by the girl's beauty. Blinking slowly Helena stared down the corridor as her grasp on her textbooks seemed a bit tighter.

“It may be better to arrive together. Just encase we arrive later after all do not want to get detention on our first day do we?”

Speaking once again Helena tilted her head softly to the right hand side, her hair caressing her soft heart shaped face. Her sea blue eyes seemed to show less nervousness and a bit more calming tone to them. Her grip on her textbooks were still ever so tight but nonetheless Helena seemed to be a bit calmer. Awaiting a response Helena just calmly awaited an answer from the other girl in front of her not quite sure what to think or feel. But Helena did feel a bit more calmer then she did when the morning started.

Ayla nodded at the other girl's words, happy to have found someone who seemed to have a better sense of where they were. "Good idea," she said, and started walking towards the next flight of stairs. She wasn't all that keen on the idea of getting detention on her first day either. "Did you say down?"

It was a little awkward, and the other girl didn't seem particularly keen on chatting, but Ayla figured she ought to say something. "I was walking down with my cousin Twyla, but we got separated," she explained. "I don't usually get lost easily, but... well, new places always take a little bit of time adjusting to." It unsettled Ayla a little that she'd gotten lost; she'd always had a pretty good sense of direction. Still, it was one more thing to put into her letter home this week. She imagined her parents would laugh.

She already missed them.

It was then that Ayla realised she hadn't introduced herself yet, nor did she know what her fellow first year's name was. "Oh, I'm so sorry, I forgot to ask your name!" She smiled brightly at the other girl. "I'm Ayla, by the way. Nice to meet you."

Helena blinked quietly as she listened to Ayla speak. Helena turned her soft heart shaped face towards Ayla pulling her textbooks closer to her chest as the books gently grazed the bottom of her heart shaped face. Helena's pale ivory skin seemed to have a dust of blush on her cheeks. As the young girl felt embarrassed for not introducing herself properly. Helena scolded herself mentally before calmly looking at Ayla.

“My apologies that are rather rude of me. My name is Helena. Helena Rose. It is a pleasure to meet you Ayla.”

Helena spoke softly in a rather calm elegant tone of manner. Her ocean blue eyes seemed to radiate a bit though Helena’s showed warmth they also held uncertainty and complete nervousness like a skittish rabbit running from prey. Helena continued clinging to her textbooks like a lifeline. Social interactions were never Helena’s thing; she continued to gaze softly at Ayla.

“But I believe Defense Against the Dark arts are down the corridor and down those stairs I believe, but I could be rightfully mistaken. Suppose it won’t hurt for us to try would it?”

Helena spoke softly; her elegant tone seemed to waver slightly as the butterflies in her stomach fluttered around quickly and very violently. Helena hummed softly before glancing down the corridor humming softly in a thoughtful tone. Her mind seemed to drown with many thoughts.

“Suppose we should start heading that way before we are late after all as you mentioned that would be fairly bad would it not?”

Helena asked Ayla a simple question before deciding to start heading down the corridor walking at a slow pace enough for Ayla to catch up with her.
