Fern walked into Magical Menagerie, a bit surprised at how loud it was. Cats were meowing, owls hooting, toads croaking and rats squeaking. Fern looked around at all the wonderful animals. How on Earth can I choose from all these amazing pets?? she wondered.
Fern wandered over to the owls, thinking how amazing it would be to have an owl. Her eye was caught by a cute Eastern Screech owl. It looked amazingly fluffy, and it was looking at her with its big, wide eyes. Hmm... maybe later? Fern mused. An owl would be cute, but I think I should have a look at all the animals before I make my decision.
Fern then went over to have a look at the cats. They were all so adorable! Fern had a cat at home, but it was a nasty animal- no matter how nice she was to it, it would always hiss and scratch, and try to bite. Hmm... not these either, she thought. I'm not quite sure I trust them.
That left the rats. Fern didn't even bother going over there. To her, rats were not something she wanted to look after.
Fern was beginning to consider coming back another day, once she had made up her mind. She turned to leave, when the owners of the shop called her over.
"Hello, dear! A bit lost, are you?" Mrs Wittiker called. Fern walked over to her.
Hi, Mrs Wittiker. I've had a look at all the pets, but I don't think that any of them suit me," she sighed.
Now, that's not the spirit! Come over here, girl, and tell us what you think of these," Mr Wittiker smiled knowingly. "I have experience in these things, you know. And I think I know just what you're looking for."
Fern doubted that they could know what she needed, but, not wanting to be rude, she followed the shop owners over to... the Toads section. It was love at first sight.
"They're gorgeous!" Fern gasped. The toads croaked at her. One in particular caught her eye- it was green and spotted. "What type of toad is this one?? And how much is it??" Fern was willing to pay as much needed to get this gorgeous green toad.
"Aah... didn't I say I knew what you were looking for?," Mr Wittiker smiled at Fern. "That'll be 4 galleons, 16 sickles."
"I'll pay for him right now!" Fern looked at the adorable little green toad.
"Hand it over, then," Mrs Wittiker smiled at Fern, too. And Fern handed over the money.
