I was going to the joke shop in Diagon Alley, with no reason in particular. I thought that I might find some cool things in here, it was created and owned by two Weasley twins years and years ago, who always loved jokes and pranks. The shop was pretty old, it started around the same time as Harry Potter went to Hogwarts! This ship was surly going to be filled with all sorts of wonderful and curious objects. When I walked in, I was immediately greeted by the chaos. It was just as I pictured it to be, shelves and shelves of pranks and ways of cause mischief! As I was walking around, a particular something caught my eye. It looked just like a muggle game, called chess. After examining it closely for a minute, I realized that this was I ordinary chess, it was wizards chess. It was like the magical equivalent of the game, where you could control the pieces, and, they would actually destroy the others. I picked it up, it was only a Galleon. I had to make my time here at Hogwarts enjoyable, and a magical twist in a muggle game was fascinating! I kept my hold on the game, and then looked around for anyone else, hopefully someone who understood it and would play with me.

As soon as I stepped into the wizard joke shop my senses were flooded by the smells of all kinds of joke shop items, Skiving Snackboxs, canary creams and potions. The shop was filled to the brim with wizards and witch's alike all looking to get a little wild at Weasleys Wizard Wheezes. I snuck on the outer edges of the shop, trying not to get trampled while kids ran around the shop. At a particularly less crowded part of the shop I spotted wizarding board games. I took a closer look at the items and saw wizard chess. I suddenly remembered playing Wizard chess with my sister back in Canada, It had been such along time ago and later we had to sell that set when we moved over here. I cracked open the case to peak inside and saw all the muggle chess pieces but when the light from outside streaked in I noticed they were walking around and talking to the other pieces, I remembered that they would have to actually smack the other pieces to get them off the board and the set we used to own would yell insults at us when one of them did have to get dragged off. I slammed the case close and looked around the table with the games, I saw another girl with pretty blonde hair pick up a set too then look around the old shop. I looked back down quickly so she wouldn't notice me looking at her.

As I was looking for someone else interested in Wizards Chess, I noticed a girl, probably my age, looking at a set. Ooh maybe u could play with her! I thought. I wasn’t really one to not want to be friends with someone sharing the same interests as me. Maybe this girl knew how the game worked, I didn’t really, but I knew regular chess, this couldn’t be much differnt right? I smiled at her trying to make eye contact and she quickly looked down. I made a confused face, why did she avoid looking at me, that’s weird. I’m not a very pushy person, but I was now curious why she did that, so I slowly started approaching her. ”Hey! I’m Delainie, Delainie Silverwing, and you?” I said to the brunette girl. I looked at her, again trying to make eye contact for the second time, though not in a creepy way or anything. My mother had told me before Hogwarts that if I wanted to make friends, eye contact was a good start. I stood slightly to her left, waiting for a response. Why did she look down I thought. I touched my face, maybe I had something on it? I wasn’t really sure, but maybe she just got nervous around other people or something.

As I looked down I started to think about the price of the wizarding chess and if I could just spare one galleon for it then suddenly realized that what I had just did might offend her so I looked up again and saw the blonde girl walking over to me and looking a little confused, I wondered why. Maybe she was confused about a product? She introduced herself as a Delanie Silverwig, I quickly raced throught my mind on how I had mad previous friends. While I was also thinking Delanie, What a nice name! I looked her in the eye and smiled. "Hi, I am Marcie." I shot a quick glance at the game she'd been looking at and remembered how she'd looked interested. "um...I saw the game you were looking at, the um wizarding chess, any chance you want someone to play it with?" I think I sounded a little too hopeful for my liking but then I felt a surge of excitement, Delainie might be my very first friend at Hogwarts! Plus she might even know how to play my most favorite game in the whole wizarding (and muggle) world, but I knew I probably shouldn't get my hopes up because she might not like me and just like that, I was back to being hopeful.

No matter how bad things are,

The girl said that her name was Marcie, but she had looked a bit sacred when she glanced up at me. Oh no, I hope I didn’t scare her I thought to myself. I didn’t want to make her feel scared, or anyone. I wasn’t even at the school yet, I need friends, or at least just not enemies. “Hey Marcie!” I said. “Yeah of course! I’d love to play it with you, I was just about to buy it actually, it seems really cool. I mean, I love chess, I’ve never heard of wizards chess before, but I’m sure it’s just an even better version of normal chess!”. Hopefully I didn’t go on about it too much, without letting the other girl have a chance to talk, that wouldn’t be very nice of me. I wasn’t sure how many people I’d meet who would want to play, people at my old school hated chess, so meeting Marcie was great, we would get to play together! This might be the only person who actually wants to play with mec hopefully not, but you can never be sure. “Want me to go and buy it now?” I asked the girl with a warm smile.

Marcie was relived Delainie was this friendly, if not this would have been very awkward."um, well yeah it is, the only diffrence is that you have to tell them to do the things you want them to do, but occasionally they don't listen."

When Marcie was in her muggle school nobody even knew tha that chess even existed! It was quite odd cause then, Marcie and her sister were obsessed with chess, but now it seemed that Delainie knew how to play chess, so maybe she could have somone new to play with. Her sister always played the same way all the time, it would be nice to see how other people might play. Delainie saked wether I wanted her to buy it now. "um, If you want to, ", she didn't want to spend somone elses money if they don't want to. She looked down and saw the gobbstone set she had been looking at before, she didn't know how to play but she could figure it out and it was only 13 sickles! she could probably spare 13 sickles for a great cause, "I'm gonna go buy this game too, I don't know how to play but it seems fun." she said. She had heard of Gobstones of course, but she had no idea how to play! maybe Delainie knew how to play, but it was ok if she didn't, there was probably a rule book or others at Hogwarts might know.

Elizabeth glanced at the sign. Weasley's Wizard Wheezes it read, Hm...That sounds interesting! She thought and walked in.

Immediately, her eye caught on a chess set. OMG! Zabe loves chess! I can play with her next summer if I buy this! She thought, remembering how excited her bestie Zabe was about chess.

Picking up the chess set, she peeked in and gasped with delight. "Oh my lord! It's a magic chess set!" She exclaimed out loud, "Oh, if only Zabe were here." She said and sighed, thinking of how her friend would react.

Just then, she saw two other girls who looked like they were in her year and house, looking at more chess sets. "Um...Hi there! Do you like chess too? I got into chess a couple years ago when my friend Zabe introduced me to it. Oh and my name's Elizabeth. Elizabeth Stonewall but you call me either Eliza or Beth." She said, walking over with the chess set.

She didn't want to make them feel scared or anything. She was just excited to see that someone else shared an interest in chess. Making a mental note to write a letter to Zabe, she relaxed and stood by the other two girls.
