Let Dottie be the first to say, never in her life would she be on a train, let alone leaving her family to attend magical school. When Dottie discovered magic at the age of 7, the shock was so overwhelming it was hard to imagine. Even her mother couldn't fathom it when she told her. She had no clue on what magic was, nor did her mother but one thing was for sure, no one else could know. Not even her brother. Her mother and father took precaution when it came to Dottie and her magic. "Dottie... Her mother leaned down to her as she was at her level, "you mustn't tell anyone. Your father and I will discuss this." The thought of not tell her brother was difficult but eventually she was able to until the night of her birthday.

"Sweetheart, your father and I have decided to send you to a school for the magical. We discussed it for a while and thought it would be best for you. School starts tomorrow. Are you ready? Helena told her as she sat on the bed next to her. Dottie was nervous but she was tough, nodding her head, she gave her mother a tight lipped smile. "Yes."

The morning came when Helena and Dottie would arrive at the King's Station. They looked lost with suitcases in toll. "Platform 9 3/4? Is there such a thing?" Dottie asked, glancing up at her mother, who was looking as lost as she was. After a few moments, they arrived to the platform 9 and platform 10. Sooner than they even think, there was someone running straight into platform 9. Helena started to reach out to stop them but they disappeared quickly into the wall.

Dottie gulped and looked at her mother. Did she have to do that? Perhaps. Helena sniffled and pulled Dottie into a tight hug. "Make sure to write me, my love. Behave and focus on your schoolwork. I will see you on your break. I love you."

The 11 year old hugged her mother back tightly before mumbling back her sentiments. After that, she positioned herself like the previous student did with her trolley before starting to run into the wall. The feeling was indescribable when she went through and then landing into another platform with a bunch of students rushing around. The girl was nervous all of a sudden at the amount of people. But the loud train whistle caused her to snap out of it, maybe it was indicating that it was getting ready to pull out. She tried to find someone to take her luggage but alas, no one so she struggled to pull them into the train cart and lift it but she wasn't strong enough. Thankfully, a older student helped her on the passing before moving along. Dottie thanked them and sat in the empty cart.

The time of silence was deafening which gave her even more butterflies. "You got this, Dottie, you got this." She whispered to herself while relaxing in her seat, looking out the window at the darkness from the train station.

Fern and her parents arrived on platform 9 3/4. Fern was hoping for her parents to say something kind to her, but her mother just said, "Get on the train now Fern. We'll see you next summer, we want you to stay at Hogwarts for all the holidays,"
Fern nodded, trying to hide her sadness. Why don't my parents want me at home in the holidays? she wondered. Have I done something wrong?
Fern shrugged off her thoughts, and dragged her heavy trunk onto the train. I really really hope I find someone to sit next to... eventually. I'm sure there's got to be someone sitting alone... Students were hanging out of the train windows, waving goodbye to loved ones. As she walked along the carriages, all the compartments were full except the one at the end. There was just one girl sitting there, a first-year too by the looks of her. Hmm... maybe I'll go sit with her Fern thought. She looks like she could do with some company... I will go and sit with her.
Fern pulled open the compartment door and dragged her heavy trunk inside.
“Hi!” she said brightly. “Everywhere else is full- can I come in here?”

Dottie was looking out the window when she heard the voice of a young girl behind her at the door, 'Hii, can I sit here? Every cart is full.' She said and Dottie smiled gratefully, nodding. She definitely didn't mind the company. Maybe the company would help her nerves seeing as they were both new to the school. Perhaps she was a regular person like her. That was a big perhaps because so far, most of the students are already magical or even had magical family.

When Dottie looked at the girl, she had an innocent smile and facial features. Maybe they will become friends. "Hii.. of course. I'm actually pretty lucky to get a cart to myself so definitely, join me. I'll spread my good luck charm all over you. The luck may give you the house that you want when we get to the castle." Dottie finally spoke after a moment of silence and she noticed she didn't answer her. Before she could forget, she spoke, "Oh- I'm Dottie by the way, nice to meet you and I have to say, I really like your hair." Giving a genuine smile before continuing, she was rambling again. "Where are you from by the way? I'm from Ireland, obviously." Making it obvious with her accent coming out when she spoke. She had a feeling she would always have this accent.
