Low class is what the West family would be considered as. Or the more direct way, poor. Disgustingly poor. Outcast are her parents, rumors go about but little Layla didn’t understand. ’Why were mummy and daddy hated? she asked her elders, none of which told the little swan. With that, her and her number of siblings were homeschooled, not being allowed out unless it’s for getting groceries. The West family live in an apartment paid for by Layla’s uncle. But she must be quiet about it. ’You don’t want uncle June to be in problem, now?’ is all she heard. All she had to be was a quiet young lady. A lonely swan.
This time, Layla really had done it. She was only 8 years old, young and naive, the age children still develop understanding and reason. All she did was break a plate- that was it! Not only with the scolding from her mother, the disappointment in herself slowly grew until the cup overflowed. A sad sight to see. She knew that interrupting her mother would make her more upset- so she fell silent instead.
’What are you doing!? I told you magic isn’t allowed!' Mother was cross with Layla. Magic was forbidden, but she had yet to be told why. Her mother had refused to divulge her of the family history. Hiding the fact that her mother was a pureblood and her father was a muggle-born, which was some kind of crime against her mother's family. To Layla, she couldn't understand why- but her mother knew exactly why.
And still, the more her mother scolded Layla the more she cried causing everything around her to start growing the most beautiful of roses. ’Stop it right this moment!’ But she couldn’t help it. Layla was young, afraid, ignorant. Terrified she was. Crying. A swan left at sea, with no home.

A swan of pure white is the definition of elegance. The appearance is what amazes people, but yet the personality no one knows of. Is the black and white colors the true way of seeing the world or is it tinted stained glasses?
Swans, as birds, don't have any human abilities, but Layla West isn't just a swan. The ability to cook is a skill that still shocks the lot who don’t understand science. Layla’s skills come from experiments, what can or can’t be made by leftovers or scarps. It’s the same as giving one a block of wood and still they make a birdhouse out of it.
'It’s a born gift her parents say.' But gifted students have challenges as well- with Layla, she had trouble focusing on one task.
Must she do all of her tasks at once, and sloppy? Her parents try to mend that aspect of her, but as a gifted child some things simply can’t be fixed. So what do you do instead? Put her gifts into good use. That’s exactly what they did. Her assignments consisted of helping her many younger siblings, cleaning the house, preparing the table and dinner, and finally washing dishes. After doing such tasks for a long while, dear Layla managed to make everything she does as beautiful and graceful as her. Just like a swan.
A tall young lady, marking around 5’1”, with long white hair due to Albinism, in which both parents had. With the appearance of a swan, but what is a swan as herself swimming in dirty waters? The young lady named Layla West covers herself in clothing not one would wear now. Old style white t-shirts and black shorts in summers, and a heavy 1970’s coats with, again, black shorts. Nothing the usual wizards and witches of her kind would wear, as they had money that Layla didn’t. But being tall has it’s advantages. Not one time did she have to climb on the counter tops to reach the middle board of the shelf, and she could help those shorter than her. Her dresses may not be clean all the time, but her personality is as pure as a true swan.
