Alex Reghan

His mother and father had not left him alone about Hogwarts and had nagged him nearly all summer for him to get ready for Diagon Alley so he could get the supplies he needed for school. His sister, who was older than him, was already out of Hogwarts and worked in another country. Alex didn't know whether that was a good choice considering living in another country meant having no family around, but he didn't have any say in the matter. Regardless, he did hope he would be able to find the right job for him when he graduates Hogwarts. of course, that was seven years away, but it never hurts to think about the future!

He had all the supplies he needed including the books for his classes. Judging from the amount of books he had, he will have lots of homework and have to deal with seven classes, which is different from the classes he was used to when he was homeschooled. The amount of muggle classes he had was five maximum, and he got stressed easily with the workload. Would the workload be worse here because of the extra two classes? Probably. Would he still try his best? Of course! But along with schoolwork, he'd still try to have fun by joining a Quidditch team, of course with the team he joins depending on what House he gets into.

There were... what? Four Houses? His dad was in Ravenclaw and everyone else in his family was in Gryffindor aside from his grandfathers (paternal and maternal) and grandmother (on his father's side) who were muggles. Would he be in Gryffindor too? Ravenclaw? Or would he be in a House no one in his family has been in?

There was something his father said that stuck to his mind about the sorting ceremony. He had been in Hogwarts the same time as Harry Potter, which by itself was crazy to think about, but Alex's dad was present during Potter's ceremony. The hat wanted to put him in Slytherin, but Harry chose to be in Gryffindor. So if he was nervous about being in a different house than his family, Alex could choose where he spent the rest of his Hogwarts education, right? There was only one way to find out, and it would be quite a few hours before he would find out.

Thankfully, the sorting ceremony wouldn't just be involving him. It would be for all the other first years, with the rest of the students watching. Even though the idea of multiple students between the ages 12 and 17 sounded scary, they had been first years at one point too! Now, that thought was much more comforting.

What was he looking forward to the most? Definetly the food. His parents had told him the food was good. And with Alex's taste buds being pretty easy-going, he would enjoy most (if not, all) of the food Hogwarts provides the students.
