Background: Willow was born on the twenty-fifth of November 2011, in Featherstone, England. She is daughter of Ayres (47) and Elaine Maddox (46), two Gryffindor alumnus, who fell in love during their school time at Hogwarts, and married a few years after the graduation. Together, Ayres and Elaine have three children, of which Willow is the youngest, Zachary Maddox (14), the middle child and Beatrice Maddox (16) the first born. Both Zachary and Beatrice are present students at Hogwarts; Zachary at the house of Gryffindor and Beatrice at Hufflepuff.

Ayres and Elaine raised the three children in a small townhouse, located at the heart of Featherstone. Featherstone was a quite large, old wizarding society, in the Northern England, hidden from Muggle society, obviously. Willow, Zachary and Beatrice had a somewhat ordinary upbringing, reflecting the magical world they were born into. From the age of 6 to the age of 11, the children were all homeschooled by Elaine, while Ayres worked at the Ministry of Magic, Department of Magical Law Enforcement. Elaine had previously been working at the Ministry as well, but decided to quit her job, when she was expecting Beatrice. Although the children were born with similar hair color, eye color and facial features, they had very different personalities. Zachary was extrovert, charming, and a bit mischievous while Beatrice was more introvert, dutiful and sometimes arrogant. And then there was, Willow. Willow was humble and kind, and yet, with a razor-sharp mind, which only became more prominent as she grew older. She was well-liked by her peers and made lots of friends in the neighborhood.

First instance of magic:
Reducio

The earliest memory Willow has of encountering magic, was when she was 4 years old. It was Christmas morning, and she had just opened the first present. As she looked down at the big, soft, brown teddybear wrapped in red paper, she felt so happy and excited. Suddenly, the teddybear started to levitate, only for a few second, before et fell back onto the wrapping paper.

The gifted child:
Reducio

Every night, before the children were put to bed, Ayres would read 3 books, one picked by each of the children. Zachary and Beatrice would pick different books, but Willow always picked the same book about animals, "Animals of the World". It was an old, worn, book, but with beautiful, painted pictures of animals, divided into chapters, including mammals, birds, fish, amphibians, insects, reptiles and worms. Curious, as she was, Willow would ask about all kinds of things, much to the annoyance of her older siblings.

One day, when Ayres were reading the reptile chapter of "Animals of the World", Willow suddenly pointed excited at the snake in the book, and said "Snakes can speak like us". Ayres nodded and smiled at Willow, "Yes, they speak like us with other snakes, but they use a different language", Ayres said, and was about to continue the reading, when Willow interrupted him. "No, it can speak like us" Willow persisted and pointed insistently at the snake. Ayres looked down at his 5 year old daughter with a frown on his face, and confusion in his eyes. As any other child, Willow could be goofy at times, but at that moment, she looked up at him with a seriousness in her eyes, that could not be mistaken. Ayres looked for at her for a moment i silence, when the thought suddenly hit him, and he felt the hair stand on the neck of his neck. "Ho..how do you how snake speaks?" he asked her quietly, to which Willow replied. "I saw a snake in the rose bed yesterday, and... it spoke to me...it said "Hello my little one"." As Willow revealed the encounter with the snake, Ayres looked at her in silence, with a hint of disbelieve in his eyes. He understood every word of what she had just said. Yet, the last bit was spoken in parseltongue. Ayres couldn't believe what he had just heard. Despite coming from af long line of pure-blooded wizards, Ayres had until now, been the only known parselmouth for generations, according to his great grandmother. He discovered his "gift" when he was a few years older than Willow, but the family had kept it a secret, because of the association with dark wizardry. As far as he knew, none of his ancestors were not descendants of any known parselmouth or wizards who had been practiced dark wizardry. However, those kind of associations often, were hidden, or kept as secret in families, which could be the case with his own family.

Ayres weighted his words carefully, before he looked her deep in the eyes. "Willow...snakes can't speak like us... the reason why you understand them, and can talk like them, is because you are a parselmouth; a human who understand and speak the language of the sneaks.". Willows mouth curved into a smile and her eyes lit up. "..But!". Ayres looked at her with a strict face. "You can't tell anyone about this...do you understand?". Immediately, the smile and glance in her eyes faded, and she looked down while nodding. After brief silence, Ayres continued the reading, and until this day, Willow has kept it a secret.
