Sometimes Cash wondered how they were in and stuck in this predicament. One minute Cash is minding their own business. By minding, meaning, they enjoy their lunch in the peace and quiet of the Great Hall. The next minute someone tapped their shoulder from the back. Cash immediately looks at the tip of the finger that dares to touch them.

Their green eyes traveled from the owner of the finger to the face the finger belonged to. Cash did not know the person who smiling brightly at them nor did they want to get to know the person. All they know is that person is way much younger than Cash. "What do you want?"The Viridian Vipers Co-Captain asked the young girl with a gruff.

The other girl then explained that she and her other friend wanted to practice their Duelling skill and needed someone to oversee their Duelling and make sure no one got badly injured. Cash rudely told them to bother someone else but the girl persisted that Cash was the one they wanted to be the judge of their practice skill.

To make it snappy and for the girl to leave Cash alone, they said yes and it was a few weeks ago. Now, Cash was standing in the middle of the stage that Cash knew and was familiar with. They look down at the little ripped piece of parchment that they hold in their hand. "Fang Yun-Xin, please stand on this side,"Cash called out the Asian-looking girl.

Cash let out a sigh. Why do kids nowadays have a hard name to pronounce? Their green eyes landed on the other girl who waiting for her name to be called. "Raizel Voltrouz, you know where you should go"Cash cursed under their breath for last names that were hard to pronounce. Their green eyes bounced from Yun-Xin to Voltrouz.

"Alright, I am not sure why I am here since it was Saturday and I had something else better to do besides babysitting the both of you,"Stated the fifth-year. "For some bizarre reason, you chose me amongst other Duelling Captains and Co-Captains to oversee your practice skills. But alas que sera sera,"They stated in their opening statement.

"You both here either you are an aspiring Duellist or perhaps you already up on that roster of your house," They continued. "Okay,"Cash clapped their hands once to gather the attention of the young minds. "I do not know if you knew the rules and regulations of Duelling or not but here's the low down,"They uttered.

For a brief moment, Cash spewed out the Duelling rules that were on top of their head and that they knew by heart. Cash's eyes glance from Voltrouz to Yun-Xin, "Did both of you understand the rules and regulations that I just told you?"They inquired. If the two lionesses did not understand then it was not Cash's fault.

"I do not have much time today so without further ado, engage!"The Cuban descendant slicing the air as a sign for the Duelling practice to begin.

When Raizel said she wanted to do some practice duels, she meant it and she would accept any requests, may them be from a higher year level student which she usually does or from an underclassmen that wanted to try getting started on the said sports. She can't say she's the best there is so she doubts people would even ask her for a duel. There are tons of greater duellists out there who are in her year which others might prefer. Then again, there are those that prey upon easy targets and ask them instead to have an easy win.

Fang Yun-Xin, First year Gryffindor. She swears she met her before… Summer camp? Right, her memory is not that great when it comes to remembering names and faces of people she only met for a short time. But anyway, the first year approaching her and asking her for a duel was… unexpected. What led to that, she doesn't know but she took the offer anyway. It's dueling.

The choices for a mod though were rather close to none until they found Cassandra Ironwoods. Not gonna lie, she isn't a fan of their attitude. They could've declined the offer if they found it troublesome to 'babysit' a couple of students but guess Yun-Xin was persistent. Oh well. She's not here to think about Cassandra anyway but rather, about this practice duel. Raizel waited until their mod's speech was over once she was in her place, taking out her wand. "Let's get this started shall we?" Raizel spoke out. The sooner they start, the sooner this will be over and maybe that'll lessen the sour mood of their moderator.

Fang Yun-Xin vs Raizel Voltrouz

Yun-Xin did not send me her action and missed the post deadline.
Raizel Voltrouz vs Fang Yun-Xin

Raizel cast Obscuro at Yun-Xin
Wisdom DC: 10
Wisdom Check: [d20 : 1] + 8 = 9 → Crit Fail
Note: Since it is a crit fail nothing happens during this round.
As round one was underway, it was a dead silence. Usually, when someone asks them to become the moderator for their match, both parties cannot wait to sling their spells to one another. But the match that Cash attended right now said otherwise. They did not say who should go first. They wanted to see which one out of the two had the biggest guts and instinct.

The fifth-year thought since the much younger girl out of the three of them asked Cash to be the one overseeing their game, she would be the one who would break the spell first and was ready to hit her slightly older opponent. But nothing happened. Maybe it was the case of cold feet. Or maybe another matter occupied Fang Yun-Xin's mind.

Whatever it was, the girl was unmoving and Cash was not the type of moderator who encouraged the training parties to snap out of their daydream. They were tonesone who asked Cash so they were the ones who needed to get their head in the game. It was not the same case for Voltrouz. The up-and-coming new Gryffindor's Duellist was ready to show her spellcasting ability.

Once she was an opportunity arose, Raizel Voltrouzraised her wand and ready to strike the younger girl. Making the wand movement and speaking out the incantation for the Obscuro, Voltrouz pointed her trusted magical sword at Fang Yun-Xin. But perhaps Voltrouz was still green and a bit hasty.

Her spell did nothing and somehow when Voltrouz's wand pointed at the opposite side of the piste, Yun-Xin managed to snap out of whatever she thought of and did not need to break a sweat to avoid Voltrouz's attack against her. Cash let out a yawn. "Come on, guys!"Cash shouted. "Looks alive, will you?"They continued some more.

"I swear if this how both of you want to play this out without no remotely close to being serious about it, I will end this match faster than you can say Flipendo,"The Viridian Vipers Co-Captain warned. If the next rounds there was no change in the situation, Cash would end the match and walk out of the room without any remorse at all.

She grinned as Cash announced the start of the unofficial duel. The senior looked rather disgruntled and there was definitely a note of annoyance in her tone, but Xin was too excited to bother. Just as she was going over her thoughts, the other girl, presumably called Raizel, had already shot a spell at her.

Her mind went blank.

This was Xin's first time actually dueling someone, and that 'someone' was an upperclassman who had a reputation in school for her duels. Raizel was a second year she met in summer camp. They were in the same cabin together, and Xin quickly go to know Raizel's reputation as a duelist. The first year knew that she ought to find someone younger but had given up on that idea. There were no first years Gryffindor dueling team, and the girl didn't know most of the duelists. But she did knew Raizel Voltrouz, so plucked up the courage to ask the second year. After all, dueling is all about challenging better duelists, right?

The spell missed terribly.

A critical fail as it was called.

And anyways, what is Obscuro?

Whatever...

The witch shrugged off her thoughts and grasped the pine wood wand more tightly. She wasn't the kind to give up so quickly. "Nice try," she said coolly, "I didn't even have to move one bit." Okay, maybe this isn't the way to speak to older students, but Xin really wanted to get something going.

Of course, bad luck. Her spell didn't work again but fortunately this time, despite the failure, there was no backfire. At least her spellcasting practices weren't for nothing.

Now their moderator is starting to get on her nerves as well. Seriously. Of all the people that could be overseeing this duel, why does it have to be someone like them. Geeze. If they walk out and end this duel immediately, Raizel won't even stop them. This duel has a bad vibe already and the fun loving Gryffindor isn't liking it one bit. Even the thrill of the dueling isn't present in this one. It has nothing but a bad vibe and she would like for it to end just as much as Cassandra.

Giving up isn't in her list of options though despite the desire to walk out of this room filled with bad vibes so she has nonother choice but to continue. Her gaze fell on the younger Gryffindor, looking at her with a raised eyebrow due to that remark.

At least I did something instead of just standing and doing nothing.

That's what she wanted to say but no. Just no. The vibe is already bad enough, she can't go adding more to it… for now anyway. "Happy for you." Was all she could say back as she stood up straight.

Now then, what to do, what to do.

Cash was drumming their fingers against their short jeans-clad thigh while waiting for the next action to be seen, And since Voltrouz was a Duellist for her house, she had more confidence and what it takes to show it to the younger lioness. Raising her wand, Raizel Voltrouz makes the movement and says the incantation for Wind Jinx.

Although there was nothing wrong with the spell nor the incantation that the younger girl said, the spell did not work out like she wanted it to. The jet blast of wind had departed from the tip of Voltrouz's wand but Fang Yun-Xin managed to avoid the strong wind before the spell could even hit her. Talk about doing spells higher than your years.

Cash was impressed but they will not say it out loud. A true moderator will encourage their Duelliss. But not Cash. Cash was the type of person who would say it is what it is. If they think what the Duellist did was stupid then Cash will voice their thoughts. "Just because you are somewhat a Prodigy in your craft does not mean you can master it that easy,"Cash stated.

"Nice try though, Voltrouz"They added some more. Then oit seems Cash's harsh words woke something in Yun-Xing as the girl brandish her own spell. Since this match was not an official Duel, all spells - which within the Duellists' reach - are free for all. Fang Yun-Xin raised her own wand and directed it to Voltrouz.

Though both the spell incantation and the wand movement for the Freezing Charm works for the young Fang Yun-Xing, Raizel Voltrouzwas faster than the girl could say Immobulus as the slightly older lioness dodged the incoming assault. As the spell shot out and flew towards Voltrouz, the fifth-year wondered why these two young Duellists chose to brandish spells that were slightly beyond their years.

"What is this?"Cash berated. "Is today a 'whatever you can do, I can do better' day?"They jeered some more. They admit it became slightly entertaining for them but as much as Cash wanted to see them strive with spells slightly beyond their years, they had to make sure both of the Duellists mastered the art of the sport.

"Seriously, guys! why don't you cast a spell that within your years?"The young Ironwoods suggest. "Perhaps, if you use the spells that are within your expertise, you might hit your mark, yeah?"They continued some more and put the emphasis on the word 'might'. "That being said, let's carry on!"The Cuban descendant ended their little monolog.

Two down, eight rounds to go and the former Prefect of Slytherin just want to get this day over as soon as they step foot in the room.

"Tch." Another spell missed its mark. The wind jinx that Raizel casted wasn't exactly that bad but perhaps it's just a matter of getting used to. Another thing to work on with those spells. What's more annoying is… their mod just won't shut up and watch. They don't even have anything important to say and are just a distraction. She was tempted, so tempted to fire a spell at them right now.

Surely it won't hit. They'd dodge it so easily but they were starting to get annoying and so what if they are using spells that's beyond their year level? This is a practice duel, the chance to try out new things and Raizel would rather do that than simply do all the stuff that's already been taught. Yes, she might have a higher chance of hitting as those are the spells that she had gotten used to but trying out new things is what she wants right now.

Now her opponent, what she just shot was the freezing charm and luckily, Raizel saw it coming and successfully moved out of its way, avoiding it. She stared at her opponent. The Second year Gryffindor wasn't exactly expecting a spell that isn't used in dueling or perhaps she just missed that from the ones that are being used in official duels. From what she could remember, that one was taught in second year.

Oh? Someone's been studying beyond their level. Now it got a bit interesting at least. It'd be a lot better if her spells hit though.

Not a very good start there. Aw man, she missed like, by inches. A weak aim is something duelists should never have. Well, other weak aspects are also fatal, but that was NOT THE POINT!

Immobulus was a rather hard spell, and she had learnt it last week in 'remedial charms', as some annoying fellow had reminded her a few days before. Didn't even bother to reply. Why should she tell someone her personal studies?

Makes the weeds easier to pull out and throw to the sides.

And that was what Xin thought during the round. It would be better to lose competing to an upperclassman instead of some pathetic first year who's only worry was: What do we wear to the prom?

It was hard not to grimace thinking about those stupid people.

And then it was a blind of light and Raizel's spell shot towards her. It missed just like immobulus missed Raizel. Xin didn't have to duck or dodge or fly sideways in a brutal manner. And anyways, why would some boys like to do that. Sprawled on the ground in a cool pose and looking like a, well, it looked like a disgusting pile of octopus limbs but Xin wasn't sure if they were aiming to portray that, it wasn't as if they were really harmed. And what is Ventus... Is there a spell called VENTUS? Perhaps it was some advanced spell in the upper levels, or perhaps it was the fact that Xin was too naive to bother reading about those spells in Charms. Either way, the girl was left confused yet unharmed by this strange spell.

Things had not worked out for both of the Duellists. Sure, their last round went well without a hitch. This round both of the Duellists chose to spice things up and make the room hotter. Literally. Not wanting to be one-upped by the slightly older Gryffindor, Fang Yun-Xin put out the fire arsenal toward her opponent.

With a bibbity bitty bop of the incantation and wand movement for the Fire-Making spell, Fang Yun-Xing burned up the room. The familiar jet of red flame shot out from her wand but since Voltrouz is up on that Gryffindors' roster, she knows the tail tell for the Incendio. Raizel Voltrouz ducked out of the way a tiny seconds before the spell could even hit her.

She played with fire. It seemed like a way for the slightly older Gryffindor to tease out her Duelling opposition for the day, Cash tsked out under their breath and tried not to let out a snicker at the hopeful hit only to squash out at the last second. What a cruel joke Raizel Voltrouz played out to the other contender.

Then it was Voltrouz's turn to return the favor. It was 'go big or go home' for the perfectionist Duellist. Raizel Voltrouz chose to make the fire bigger than what Yun-Xin delivered. Swinging her wand, she moved and said the incantation for Incendio Duo. The room was ablaze and the much bigger jet of fire had been flying out from one side to the other side of the piste.

Although Yun-Xin was just only a first year, it was proven that the Sorting Hat put her in the right house. Without shaking to her core, Fang Yun-Xin evaded the attack like it was nobody's business. This time around Cash could not hide and stop their snicker since karma came fast for Voltrouz. One thing Cash was certain of this afternoon, when it comes to Duelling, age was just a number.

What matters is whether you have the guts or not, the experience to back it up, and the need to be fearless in the presence of dangerous spells like this one.

This duel was slowly going into an awkward position as both duelists managed to dodge the spells.

“Incendio!” she shouted, sending a raging fire towards the upperclassman. The fire was like a dragon, eventually consuming the dueling room in yellow flames. It came as a golden ball, igniting the dark room, outshining the candles. But alas, it missed by a few inches and she was rewarded with a snicker from the moderator.

“Wow - that - that was good!” applauded the Gryffindor, who couldn't help but admire the large flames the second year managed to cast. Her fire was matched by a more powerful incendio Raizel shot at her, but Xin being the nimble and courageous girl; she dodged, and the fire missed spectacularly. She grinned, this was getting interesting, yet the lion wasn't about to give up.

Now for her next step. Xin couldn't afford another miss; it would be so boring if ten rounds just went without anyone getting hit by at least one spell. She could have just chosen an easier opponent who's just a first year like her.
