Another day, another duel. This time it wasn’t between her housemates or teammates. Raizel, a younger student she’d previously caught causing trouble with spells and later duelling partner in a 2v2v2 duel late last school year had asked her if she was willing to moderate a practice after class. Of course, anything to do with duelling was going to be a yes. Especially when it came to exciting the same passion she had in younger students. Bea was quite chuffed in a way that Raizel had taken Bea’s instructions to do some proper duelling practice and join the duelling team to heart.
Still in her school robes with her satchel on her shoulder, Bea wandered into the duelling club room. Dummies lined the walls, mats and space available for practices all greeting her. Setting her thing down to the side, she stripped off her robe, breathing a sigh of relief as the outer garment was chucked into a ball in her bag. Even though it was coming into Autumn, it was still slightly warm.
Waiting around until the other two girls came, she waved at them both and then went to stand ready for the match. She’d never met Lea, but if she was like Rai, Bea knew this would be a good match. [color= #4e7eca ]“Ready to begin? Let’s get started!”

OOC note: Permission from Rai to say she asked Bea for help

It has been a while since Raizel had participated in a duel. She had watched over a duel earlier that week, silently observing the duelists before her and after watching that, she can't help but feel the need to participate in one. She misses casting those spells, the thrill of dueling. While she did enjoy watching others shoot spells at each other, the experience is different from when you're the one standing on that piste.

Who to duel though? That's the question. For a sane person, they would invite someone whom they have a chance at winning, someone that's probably close to their level. It would only be natural for Raizel to find who's a fellow second year or maybe, even an enthusiastic first year but… no.

Oh no.

This Gryffindor had a certain habit when it comes to dueling partners and that's sparring with someone who's a few years older than her. Take Dee for example. Raizel accepted her offer of being her sparring partner despite the huge skill and year gap. She had no chances of getting a hit in yet, she still went through with it. Now, who did she ask this time? Someone that she knows for quite some time now, someone that she had dueled alongside with before and only recently, had a flawless victory in a practice duel. Did she mention, she also performed a backflip?

Lea Hirsch, a fourth year Hufflepuff. Unlike Winona, Raizel is aware of their year gap yet she still asked for a duel. While she knows that her chances of winning and doing any better than Winona are kind of low, she wants to see how she will fare against her and who knows, maybe she could learn a couple of tricks. Joining them in this duel as the moderator is another older student. Third Year, Ravenclaw, Beatrice Langstreth. Lucky that she agreed to watch over this duel.

As soon as Raizel had arrived in the dueling club, still in her robes as well as classes just ended, she quickly settled down her satchel before waving back at Bea. "Thanks for agreeing to this Bea." She told her as she made her way to her place, ready to get started on this duel. Her gaze fell on her sparring partner, pulling out her wand before giving her shoulder a bit of exercise to loosen the stiff joints. A grin soon appeared on her face, already feeling the excitement even though it hadn't even started yet. "Let's see if I can keep up."

Of course Lea would agree to a duel. If anything, she was a little surprised Raizel offered even after a witness to the drama caused by her last duel with Winona- but the Gryffindor had acted sensibly throughout that time and she trusted that the same thing wouldn't happen again. Raizel knew what she was getting into and still went along with it, which Lea couldn't help but admire even if being trounced by upper years had never been the Hufflepuff's definition of fun. Hopefully for the second year it wouldn't be another flawless victory, although Lea had no intention of losing. She had even come equipped with more spells, taking the week to properly review and learn the incantations and wand movements from third, fourth, and even a little beyond.

After classes made for an interesting time, already a little exhausted from her focus yet the new concepts clear in her mind as she entered the room with folded robe draped on her arm, gaze up in her memorization before glancing around the club in search of the two she was supposed to meet. A small smile appeared as she found them, moving to drop off her bag and robe to the side before properly joining them. Lea wasn't overly familiar with the Ravenclaw asides from her prefect status, but she agreed to moderate which was kind and showed her appreciation for the sport. "Yes, thank you. I certainly hope we can entertain." That was part of the fun, no? It was a competitive test of skill, an opportunity for creative strategies, brute force, and showing off. She too would make her way over to her spot, stretching her arms and legs a bit before rolling her neck and nodding towards Beatrice, ready.

A grin appeared at the second year's comment, eyebrow arcing in challenge. It gave her further confidence that Raizel knew what she was potentially getting into, relaxing Lea a bit and giving her the opportunity to try some new ideas out. She kind of hoped the other wouldn't be able to keep up, curious to see the extent of the Gryffindor's capabilities, but it'd be all the more impressive if she did. With a brandishing of her wand and grin still present, Lea replied. "Guess we'll find out soon enough."

Raising her eyebrows at the banter, Bea hummed to herself, unsure of who to agree with. She'd been in a duel with Raizel in the previous school year and had pressed the then first year to sign up for a 'responsible' way to fling spells at other students. Lea, on the other-hand, she didn't know. She waved off the thanks, tucking some strands of loose hair from her braid. Curse curls. Her hair never stayed where she wanted. "I just hope for a fun match between you too!" She chuckled to herself at small Rai against fourth year Lea. What was with Rai and versing higher year levels? She'd heard about the practice against Dee. Sometimes it astounded Bea how little self preservation there was in Hogwarts.

This first round was a bit of a doozy. Lea was able to get a strong cast up, conjuring a raincloud to appear over Raizels head. Little bits of light flickered through out the stormy, dark clouds and Bea took a little step back lest she be hit. You were never sure what would happen on the duelling piste.

Beatrice wasn't sure what happened to Rai. Her cast was strong, so strong Bea could feel even more strands come loose from her braid as the gust of air whipped by her. The third year followed it with her eyes, and she was disappointed to say it missed. Bea wasn't sure if it was due to excitement or nerves or Leas super prowess at dodging, but the Ventus missed by a mile.

Just as the spell hit something in the duelling room behind Leas form, a burst of white light split down from the dark cloud, just missing poor Rai by an inch. What a round!

Checking that both of the duellists were okay, Bea signalled for the next round to begin.

Here it was, the beginning, the beginning of her suffering.

Might sound exaggerated but look, here she is, facing off against a fourth year. No matter, luck might be on her side but she doubts it. Still, she'll believe in her own skills and perhaps, on lady luck.

Raizel's grip on her wand tightened as soon as the duel started, her mind quickly went through the spells that she had learned during her first year at Hogwarts and the spells that she just learned in advance. The Gryffindor pointed her wand towards Lea, a nervous grin present on her face. She won't lie, this is nerve wracking for the second year even though she might not seem like it through the eyes of others.

Those nerves, they were making her hands shake and combined that with the excitement of casting spells and dueling, it's not gonna turn out well, aiming wise anyway. That's exactly what happened. She made the gesture for the spell and then the incantation. It was… perfect. The wind jinx came out stronger than what she had expected and that's a spell that's a year higher than what they are being taught currently.

Despite that, it missed. Her shaky arms had definitely contributed to it and adding more to it is that she's facing off against the nimble Hufflepuff who just performed a backflip to dodge spell projectiles. "Ah, great." She uttered with a slight annoyance but quickly shook it off and just smiled. It's just the first batch of spells. Who knows, maybe next time she'll get lucky.

Dark clouds loomed above as soon as Lea casted that weather modifying jinx, making the Gryffindor to look up. "Oh, that's not good… that is not good at all." She remarked with a nervous chuckle at the end and then a yelp when that lightning struck but missed her, by just an inch. "That was crazy." This duel is just starting to get fun and exciting.

Despite its popularity, Lea wasn't sure she had properly cast the weather modifying spell in a duel before. The Hufflepuff witnessed it countless times, yet the storm was never by her hand. But a practice duel offered the opportunity without worry or anything on the line, so she took it. The nice part was the lack of aiming, only a vague pointing above Raizel's head enough to get the cloud to form where she wanted. "Metelojinx," and two swishes would be enough before the cloud appeared on other side, an imposing rumble and the flickering of light a warning for the Gryffindor to be prepared. A soft smile threatened its arrival, but she kept herself focused as brown eyes focused downwards towards her opponent and the wand pointed in Lea's direction.

There were a couple of things this Hufflepuff didn't know: 1, that Raizel even knew the Wind Jinx. 2, the amount of power she was able to put behind the spell. And 3, the speed and accuracy at which the Gryffindor casted the jinx. So she could keep up, Lea decided even as she swiftly dodged the strong gusts of winds that threatened to batter against her limbs. Not this time they wouldn't, although it would blow strands of dark brown hair into her face, one catching in her mouth with a rather dissatisfying taste. "That was impressive," almost a shame it didn't hit, she acknowledged while quickly brushing the hair back so that it could no longer accidentally block her vision. And good timing too as the storm cloud announced itself to the three with a bright light arcing down and crashing into the ground before a rumble echoed across the room. Its suddenness and proximity to the Second Year made it tough to see if she had been hit, but as the light vanished Raizel seemed unscathed. "Fulfilling our end of the bargain I suppose." Surely this was entertaining, even only a round in and neither hit. Perhaps next round would change that.

The lightening and raincloud seemed to have an effect on both duellists. Lea, by a sliver of a margin missed her hydro cannon move against Rai, which was sad because squirtle was one of her favourite pokemons and Bea would have loved to see it in action!

Rai seemed to have gathered herself this round, and Bea nodded in affirmation towards the younger girl. Casting her own spell, she again cast Ventus, but this time not towards Lea but towards the raincloud hovering above her. She was just able to make the spell come to fruition, sliding it strongly over to Lea. It was lucky she did so because just as she did, a great big bolt of lightening rained down. Lea the ever nimble was able to dodge the oncoming attack though.

A close call that lightning was but she had come out of it unscathe. Luck, yup, definitely luck.

"Duels need to be entertaining and fun right?" Raizel said back to Lea with a smile on her face with a simple twirl of her wand, the nervousness slowly washing aways as she gets her composure back and gets her head back in the game. Right. Pick up pace, she can do this. While this duel isn't something to be taken seriously, she still needs to give it the best that she can. Now then, what to do.

Eyes on her target, wand pointed at the Hufflepuff but wait… no. First of all, that storm cloud needs to go. She can't have lightning raining down on her and maybe, just maybe, that cloud could help her in this duel if it's on the other side of the field.

The Gryffindor redirected her aim from Lea to the cloud just above her, recasting the Wind Jinx to send it back to its caster and just as she did that though, Lea's movements caught her eyes. The Hufflepuff had casted her spell. She had seen this before, that spell, heck, she got hit by that back in that Summer Camp duel with Dee. This time though, she had managed to take a step away from where it would've hit her, almost making her stumble from how she scrambled on her feet just to get away.

A relieved sigh escaped her, brown eyes looking back at the fourth year before her. "That was brilliant." She remarked. Spells sure are fascinating. Now it'd be more brilliant if she gets to learn that.

"Of course." She bowed her head lightly, a slight hum at the words. Lea moved quick to work on her next spell, focus both on what spell to cast and Raizel's next move. For now it seemed best to practice new spells until something hit, a good chance to see if the Hufflepuff knew them as well as she hoped. And there were quite a few new ones having not dueled throughout her third year and the season not yet starting for her fourth- for now she'd choose the Pressurized Water Charm, a little curious as to how much power it had and the best way to use it. With no wand movement, all Lea had to do was point her wand towards the Gryffindor before her cast, a quick mutter of "Aqua Eructo" before the blue light turned to water and shot across the block. Raizel's quick speed and her being unused to the pressure meant this hydro cannon would find no target- a bit harder to figure out its use when it didn't hit, but certainly something to look more into.

"Would have been even more so if it had hit, but-" She smiled at the second year, the words a slight tease and compliment wrapped in one. It was unfortunate her aim wasn't better when she didn't have to worry about dodging a spell, although a threatening storm cloud up above would also cause some distraction. Changing view between straight up above and directly across proved an interesting activity, although she was glad for it as she caught a glance at the strike before it could hit her with a quick, controlled tumble out of the way. "Using my own storm against me?" Lea asked, a mixture of mock-disappointment and genuine curiosity as she begun sorting through what to do next.

This was probably the funnest duel Bea had been a part of. She'd only been a part of a few, so there was really a measure but still. She watched with avid interest as Lea cast her ventus spell against both Rai and the raincloud. A great gust of wind erupted across the piste, blasting both like twigs in a tornado.

Poor Rai didn't stand a chance. She'd just cast her own spell, but the wind must have knocked her off because the spell missed Lea by an inch. What a close call! Bea watched overhead as the raincloud sailed over towards Rai, coming to further to dampen her mood.

It was a blink once and it was gone moment. BANG! Down came another lightening strike, that thankfully missed Rai. Bea didn't particularly want to take anyone to the Hospital Wing, and for this to be her first introduction with the new Nurse. Like Hello, I've come here dragging a student whose been blasted numerous times by lightening. What did I do? Oh, absolutely nothing. I just stood and moderated this practice duel whilst she was hit. It wouldn't be the best of impressions... And Bea did want to make a good impression. She was hoping to become a healing intern in the next few weeks.
