A Small Kindness Solo

As Nichlas headed to the professor on the eve after the welcoming celebration of this school year, the gears of his plans had already been set into motion. Almost deceptively innocent did he pick off a stray piece of glitter from the cuffs of his uniform as he approached the person in charge of teaching Combat Magic. "Hello Professor, I wish to apologize in advance for any disruption in your schedule I might be causing, you see I am quite worried about a friend of mine. He had mentioned that his grades aren't truly what they should be," he addressed the professor with an almost sympathetic display of worry, if it wasn't for the gleam hiding behind his eyes. He had planned carefully on how to approach this revenge of his and what was more ingenious than make Slava's recklessness the secret ingredient to push his plans towards a better success. If he were to claim to be Slava's friend now was a better time than ever. The gleam and occasional sparkle of pink glitter the key to selling this act. Because how could they not be friends if Nichlas was carrying signs of the tell-tale glitter as if he had been tackled with a hug of the glitter monster not long ago?

"Now due to my excellent grades in the subject I had wondered if it could be me who might help him out with his quest to get his grades up. Because what kind of friend am I if I were to deny a friend my help, if I can give it," he explained. "I have enough time with only Quidditch practice keeping me busy and therefore thought a bit of duelling practice at the side would not hurt me, to be truthful I quite look forward to an excuse of more practice in this field of study," there was a slight shift, of almost honesty that bled into the last of his sentences. He truly had missed proper duelling, standing on the piste and giving his all in a brutal battle of wits and spells. He's found himself looking forward to this excuse to duel, though he understood that by taking this responsibility on him he would actually have to make Slava improve and listen to the theory of spells as that was just important as the swish and flick of a wand. But he was sure that wouldn't be as difficult. Point was that by annoying him, Slava had very much invited Nichlas to annoy him right back and Nichlas gleefully would accept said invitation and make him feel the dread he had felt when the vision of his room had been replaced by sparkles of hot pink glitter.

It had been easy to convince the professor to agree, after all Nichlas was being oh so kind in offering his free time in order to help a friend of his who had difficulty studying. If successful Nichlas would likely raise his own grade beyond Outstanding and so there was something in it for him as well, well aside from the horrible 'boredom' he would bring Slava throughout their lessons. And when Nichlas left to finally unpack his things at his dorm, he worse a smile of pure smugness on the face of an angel. And oh did he look forward to make this revelation to Slava, now who had an ace up their sleeve? It was almost enough to subdue the irritation at letter he had received almost two weeks ago, though stepping in his dorm and beginning to unpack his glitter covered things quickly rectified that.
