"So, do you know what you're getting?" Madi's father asked. "No, but I'll know what to get when I see it." Madi said. Today, Madi was getting a pet. She didn't quite know what pet she wanted, but her father had offered to come and help her look when her family took her to Diagon Alley.

"What kind of pets do Wizards and Witches have, anyway?" Her dad asked as they opened the door and walked inside the Magical Menagerie. "Like owls and cats. Those are the main ones I see around school. But there are a lot of others."

"Hello, dear! Welcome to Magical Menagerie. Can I help you find something today?Anything you are particularly interested in?" The elderly woman who owned the shop with her husband smiled at Madi, coming up to her.

"Thank you, but I'm not quite sure yet what I'd like to get." Madi said. "You can go take a look around, please let me know if you need any help. The woman said. Madi smiled and nodded, and went to go look at the animals.

A cat? No, Madi wasn't particularly interested in cats, although she had thought about getting one when she first decided she was going to get a pet.

An owl? Maybe, that was still on Madi's list of options. Really useful and cute, but it didn't seem like an owl would be that fun to watch or play with.

A lizard? Never. Madi had nothing against lizards, but did not want one as a pet.

So she was thinking either bunny or owl. A pet was all Madi really wanted, she would have taken any. She'd never had any pets growing up and had always wanted a dog more than anything, but she'd never been allowed to have one because her apartment was too small. But her parents were finally caving in.

She heard a cage rustling and turned around. A ferret. The most adorable ferret Madi had ever seen, in fact. "Can I look at her, please?" Madi asked the woman, gesturing to the ferret.

"Of course, but just a warning, she's a bundle of chaos. She's extremely playful, but often ends up causing chaos, even though she doesn't mean to. Sweetest thing in the world, though." The woman said, opening the cage and giving the ferret to Madi.

"What do you mean? She looks so innocent." Madi looked down at the ferret in her arms. It looked like she was smiling.

"She's very curious, and she gets places she isn't supposed to be, and she can break things when she's walking and isn't looking around at her surroundings, which happens often. The other ferrets are curious and playful, but not at her level. But she deserves a lovely home." The woman said.

Madi looked up at her father. "Can I get her?" she asked. "Why not? But when you're at home, keep her in your room." Her father replied. "Thanks, Dad!" she gave him a side hug, careful not to drop the ferret.

"I'd like her, please." Madi said, gesturing at the ferret.

"Of course, dear! What do you want to name her?" The lady smiled. Madi looked down at her ferret.

"Aura." she said, and looked up at the woman.
