On the twentieth of June, in the year 2012, a girl was born to a young Irish couple, who lived in a small village on the Irish coast. Their names were Caitlin and Aidan Kelly. Their daughter had pale blonde hair and soft brown eyes that seemed to glow with curiosity and intelligence. Emer grew up in a small fishing village in the west of Ireland. Her younger days (when not at school acing every class) were spent swimming, sailing, climbing, and exploring the rocky cliffs, stormy waters and endless green plains surrounding her home. When Emer reached the age of four, her parents decided to have another child, and ended up getting twin boys. They named them Conor and Ronan. Emer loved her brothers very much and was always quite protective of them. When she was eight years old her father fell ill and needed better medical care than they could find in their little fishing village. Her family moved house to Dublin so that her father could get better, which he did, but they were unable to move back. Emer had always been shy, but she had made a few friends, having grown up with not many other children her age, so the move was hard on her socially, as well as environmentally. She at first disliked life in the city, which was fast paced and crowded, but discovered that there were new and exciting things that she never had in her country town. By the age of nine, Emer was growing up to be a smart, sensible and curious girl, and she cared deeply for the living things around her. On weekends she often travelled out of the city and went on long, peaceful walks in the mountains and forests, occasionally joined by her mother or brothers. On one of these trips, Emer found a young Eurasian Magpie with an injured wing. She took pity on the poor creature and brought him home with her. She nursed him back to health, but when she went to release him, he refused to leave. She ended up keeping him, and she named him Whistler, for his song. A week before her 11th birthday, Emer had a terrifying nightmare. She never remembered what it was about, but she remembered the feeling that had come with it. Pure, raw fear. She awoke to her bedsheets engulfed in flames, with her parents crying out to her while trying to put out the flames. They extinguished the flames and checked her for injuries, but she was completely unharmed, apart from a small burn on her wrist. The next day they went to the doctor, who was confused as to how she was unharmed. The doctor gave her parents instructions for caring for the burn on her wrist and advised that they gave her sleeping pills for that night when she spoke about the nightmare she had. That night she was too scared to sleep, so her parents gave her a sleeping pill, but she didn't have the nightmare again. A week later, as they were celebrating her 11th birthday, an unexpected visitor came to their door. They explained that magic was indeed real, and that Emer was a witch, who had been offered a position at Hogwarts, a school that taught young witches and wizards. After a small amount of persuasion and examples of magic, Emer and her parents finally believed them. They told her that she would have to travel to London in England, and gave her directions and instructions on how to reach Diagon Alley and Platform 93/4. On August the 25th, her mother asked her sister to look after Conor and Ronan while they were in London, and Emer, along with her parents, took a boat across to England. They found accommodation with her father's sister and explored the sprawling city to find the Leaky Cauldron. They nearly passed the sneaky bar, but Emer spotted it and they went inside. As none of them had a wand, the barkeep opened the gateway to Diagon Alley. Emer, who had been given wizarding money for her school items, bought her wand, robes and books, then waited and enjoyed the visit to London until September the 1st.
