Even now as Madi was waiting to get on the train to go to Hogwarts, it didn't seem possible. A magical school? Everything she had ever learned told her not to believe it. And yet, here she was, running toward a brick wall that supposedly led to Platform 9 3/4.

She shut her eyes as she ran through the brick wall, and didn't open them until she made sure she hadn't crashed. Behind her came her mother, her father, and her three year old sister, Analia.

"Promise you'll visit for Christmas?" her mother asked. Madi turned around.

"Of course. I'll write, too. Every week." Madi smiled. Her family hugged her.

"We're going to miss you so much." her father said.

"I'll miss you guys too." Madi said. She looked down at Analia and saw that she was not smiling. Her lip quivered and her eyes were shining. Madi bent down and hugged her little sister. "It's okay, don't cry. I'll be back soon, and I promise I'll send you tons of treats while I'm gone." She let go of Analia. "Bye, Ana."

Then, after sharing goodbyes with her family, went to board the train.

She stepped in the train and looked for an empty compartment. She eventually found one in the back of the train. She entered the compartment and sat down. Well, this is it. In a few hours I'll be at Hogwarts. she thought.

Aries had got her letter the month before. She was expecting it after her backyard burned down. That wasn't a great family experience. And then there was her father's funeral. Not gonna talk about that either. Aries waved goodbye to her mother and brother. why wasn't Forrest allowed? aries though quietly. She was grateful that mind readers didn't exist. She was told that her brother, Forrest, was a muggle, or atleast with magical knowledge. Aries had her suspicions though.

Goodbye, Forrest! And you mother. Promise to write back! As far as Aries could see, Forrest waved back, coolly. He was a few years older, and to him, a few years more mature. Shan't I disown you, if thy is not Slytherin. Her mother laughed, and Aries cringed. She bit back a thought. You know she's just kiddingyou know shes just kidding her mind and Forrest said simoultaneously. Good ol' Saturn. MOTHER!Aries yelled with mixed feelings. This was the start of something great, and special. A journey to Hogwarts, school of magic and witchcraft. For someone like Aries, a witch.

Aries had expected this, since her FIOM, it was real. ooh look! its a girl that looks sprta like me! Aries mind raced with answers and questions. She ran to the same crate the other girl got into and whispered, hey..

Madi grabbed the book she had been planning to read on the way to Hogwarts. It was something she had bought at Diagon Alley about the Wizarding World. She wanted to know as much as possible before she actually made it to the school.
Otherwise, she thought she would be the furthest behind all the other students. A lot of them had grown up with magic, knowing what it meant when they accidentally did it. They probably knew everything, everything that Madi didn't know.

These thoughts were overtaking Madi's brain a lot, since she'd learned she was a witch. She had never been a huge worrier, but she thought that this situation was definitely worry worthy. She shook these thoughts off and began to read her book.

When she was only a few pages in, the door opened and another girl said hello and came int0 the compartment. She had brown hair and was shorter than Madi, although not by a lot. She appeared to be maybe a first year, like Madi was.

"Oh, hi." Madi said, putting down her book. She didn't want to be rude. She opened her trunk, put it inside, closed it, and then moved it to the floor.

oh, hi the tall brunette said. The girl finally replied! Aries sighed happily, as she watched the girl put her book into her trunk. Rie had the sudden urge to ask what book that was, but shrugged it off. Being a half-blood in the wizarding world her whole life, she was interested in what a muggle-born witch like this girl had to say about her experience.

Of course, Rie had heard all about Harry Potter and his adventures with his friends, making up the golden trio. She always thought about it, and this girl! She was a perfect match for Hermione Jean Granger. Rie had always thought of herself a Ginny Weasly or Nymphadora Tonks. Who knew?

The girl sat there without speaking, oh! shes waiting for me to speak. Oh for crying out loud, how much dumber could i get? Rie soon realized. She too had a loss for words, but first inpression were everything. so, are you really a muggle? well i mean your parents Rie bit her lip, as she knew that was probably annoying and wrong to say. i mean-- anyways, my name's Aries, but you can call me Rie. Aries had her peak of excitement waiting for her response. She was a fast talker, but not usually with so much excitement. She tried to stay cool, and daring.

Speaking of daring, she now found a good friend to gossip with. i bet her house is Ravenclaw. she smiled at her. Boos and cleverness huh? Ravenclaw for sure it took Aries a while to realize that she said it out loud. But to act cool, was not to embarrass ones self. well, im quite sorry, what's your name anyway? Aries popped a bubble from the muggle bubblegum pack that her brother gave her to keep. She chewed quietly and opened up a compact mirror to check herself. The girl in the mirror was gorgeous, and not insecure at all. Extroverted, her mother would say.

They sat in silence for a little bit before the girl spoke. "So, are you really a muggle? well i mean your parents-" She said, and then stopped. Madi found it really rude. Why would she be on this train if she was a Muggle, anyway? "I'm not a Muggle. I'm as much as a Witch as you are." She said shortly. "And how did you know my parents aren't magical?" Madi asked. This girl didn't even know her name yet, how did she know who her parents were?

"I mean, anyways, my name's Aries, but you can call me Rie." The girl said awkwardly. Maybe she had heard how rude that sounded, she did seem pretty embarrassed after saying it. Madi didn't think she was one of those pure-blood supremacists that she had heard about, because those people knew exactly what they were saying. She thought that this girl made a mistake. She wasn't even sure that this girl, Aries, was a pure-blood.

She saw Rie smile at her, and then guess what House Madi would be in out loud. She clearly meant to think that, but she didn't seem very embarrassed. She just apologized and then asked for Madi's name.

"It's alright, I think I'm going to be in Ravenclaw, too. Or maybe Slytherin. She said. "I'm Madi, it's nice to meet you." She said, smiling at Rie.

slytherin? well i hope you do, my mother has great plans if i befriend some snakes. She thinks id be a great one too. Rie tossed her wavy locks over her shoulder. madi huh? nice name she thought slowly, as if someone would read her mind. well, same to you Madi! Madi was eyeing her and scanning her face. Aries guessed that was called reading someone's face. Madi cautiously glanced at Rie, thinking of something. my parents? ohhh Rie sighed and her cheeks went a soft scarlet tint. i aren't a pureblood, if that's what is bothering you, my mother's a pureblood and my father... a muggle There was a tone of disappointment in Rie's voice and it shook and broke a little. It wasn't her deepest darkest secret or anything, but Matteo had died. Matteo being her father of course.
She didn't want to just keep quiet, or else she just would have got into the same compartment that she was already next to in the first place. So... are you excited? Favorite spell you wanna learn? How easy ere your parents convinced? this got Rie very excited, so she sat up straight and acted cool and calm.
She looked out the window while waiting for Madi's response. It was quite early that day, and the sun began to rise over the continent of Europe. Madi was clearly a London girl, born and raised. Aries was Scottish, but born in London anyways. That was why her mither brought her here, to this station, to make more "English" friends or something. Aries had a British accent mixed with more Scottish. Madi had an icy tone, not strict or rude, but gave off cold vibes. Rie laughed to herself, for something she didn't understand.

"Plans? If you don't mind me asking, what kind of plans does she have with you making friends in Slytherin?" Madi was worried she was being too nosy, but she wanted to know. She didn't think it made much sense.

Rie's cheeks turned a little red, and she told Madi that she was not a Pure-blood, that her mother was a witch and her father was a muggle. Her voice faltered when she was talking about her father. Madi wanted to know why, but thought it would be too personal of a question. They sat there quietly for about thirty seconds, and then Aries spoke again, this time asking her three questions.

"I'm more nervous than excited, but I am excited. I want to learn to disarm people, like remove what ever is in their hand. I heard about that spell, but I don't remember the name." Madi wanted to know a lot of spells, and it was difficult to choose just one. "My parents were convinced a lot faster than I was. They said it explained all the weird stuff I made happen, but I was still really skeptical. I thought it was a big joke. I wasn't exactly sure it wasn't a joke until I ran through a brick wall this morning." She said.

"So, what are you most excited for? You grew up knowing about magic, right?" Madi asked.

I have always shown signs of Gryffindor though, I think that's another option. She's just a self centered Slytherin. Purebloods! Aries threw her hands up in the hair, blew a bubble and looked out the window for the 7th time.Madi talked about how she wanted to learn disarming, in fact that was a similarity between them. Rie was also pretty excited for anything in Charms or Defense against the Dark Arts.

She loved the stories her brother used to tell her about Harry Potter. And Dumbledore's Army of course. That was where she heard of the disarming spell. Rie wondered if Madi had heard the tales too, as talking to a new best friend would be awesome. oh, i forgot about Topaz! she must be having fun anyways Topaz was Rie's best friend, like Stella. Although both of them would probably -if they were even witches- get there owl next year. You mean Expelliarmus? But anyways, how have you heard of that? The Harry Potter stories? He's like a hero to me!

It might've been a lot of questions, but Aries was quite interesting now, as Madi the muggle-born witch was impressive with her knowledge. And what book was that earlier? She just had to ask that question, it had been in her mind when she first saw Madi. Madeline, or Madeleine or madison? she definitely wasn't gonna ask another question, so she pulled out her trunk from under her seat, and moved to Madi's bench. She opened up her trunk, pulled out a stack of books. They were thick empty books, with blank white pages, ready to be filled. ready? Rie asked.

"I read a lot, my room is basically a library. Nearly everything I know about the Wizarding World comes from a book. And no, I haven't heard the Harry Potter stories." Madi explained. She wondered where she could get them, and if they would possibly be in the library at Hogwarts. When she went to Diagon Alley to get all her school things, her mother had only let her buy the books on her list and three others for a bit of background reading. She'd wanted to buy a lot more, but her mother was worried that they wouldn't be able to afford all of that, because they also needed to get their other school supplies.

Aries asked what book Madi had been reading earlier. "Something I got from Flourish and Blotts, I never got to finish it." She dug around in her trunk and pulled out the book. The title was Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them. It was one of the books on her school list, and she thought it was very interesting. She put in back in her trunk and closed it.

Rie opened her trunk and pulled out a bunch of books. Madi's mouth dropped open. "Ready?" Aries asked. "Definitely." Madi grinned, and took one of the books.

madi grinned and rie beamed back, her face aligning with the sunlight. these are my empties, i love writing stories. but i thought writing about harry potter for muggle-borns to read would be kind. dont you think? she glanced over at madi, who was now reaching in for a book. she picked one and up and looked at it. newt scamander? - the book you were reading, i mean. i havent got to it yet, but i do have a copy too! aries said, pointing and signaling to her trunk.

aries loved the feeling of bright rays on her skin. she felt beautiful and magical, like rainbows glimmering and glistening on her. she spread her lips wide apart to show her sparkling white teeth, with a grin. powerful. pretty. ready. thats what she felt like, sitting there in the compartment on her ride to hogwarts, for the first time with someone she didnt know until now.

it was scary, making friends. but she had, and that was the best part. would i be her first friend here? she thought to herself and wondered. best friends? rie asked holding up two of her fingers ; her thumb and pinky. i learnt that promises dont break, and this is how you make them she whispered to madi, showing her how to curl her own pinky with rie's finger.

and rie loved each part of this ride, because there was soneone special with her. even if they met only a few minutes ago. lets get writing shan't we? aries asked.
