Akina walked out of the Phoenix Cabin and sat down in a shady spot under the towering trees, where countless birds twittered above. She pulled out her sketchbook out of her small bag that she carried around with her, since she had forgotten her books in the Phoenix Cabin. Akina stood up to go back and retrieve them, but hesitated. There was a fireplace in there. A fireplace. In the summer.
Who would do such a thing?!
She sat back down. No way she was going back into that smoldering cabin. Maybe it's called the Phoenix Cabin for a reason... she thought. Akina carefully took her pencil, fingering it in her hands. What could she draw? She scanned her surroundings, taking in the peaceful beauty of nature. She wondered if she were allowed to draw things and sell them. Was that allowed? If it was, she would probably raise enough money for the cat she was saving up for. She'd probably force herself to work up the courage to talk to a professor about it.
It was her first ever summer here at Hogwarts. She'd might as well take advantage of it and at least do something. In the winter, you wouldn't be able to draw and read outside. But also, even in the summer or spring, she probably would have ended up reading and drawing inside anyway.

Although the teen was happy that he was in the same cabin as his best friend, Rafa, a fellow Gryffindor that he'd known for his entire tenure at Hogwarts, he was still quite chuffed about which cabin they were placed in. It dazzled his eyes in color and was a stark contrast to the traits of his own personality, "Unicorn, how annoying," he muttered to himself as he made his way out of the color vomit of a dwelling. For now, he'd left Rafa behind to deal with the nonsense inside and decided he needed to take a stroll to see what more the camp had to offer.
Through his fingers the ivory-white colored wand twirled like a drumstick, slowly shifting through his fingers with ease, comfort, and a sense of mastery through repetition was being played out. As he walked those golden hues shifted from side to side taking in the scene he was passing through, it didn't seem so bad this year, he supposed it was because his best friend had joined him which seemed to make everything much more welcoming.
A half-hour had passed in this way, observation, and random greetings to those he was familiar with, some he considered acquaintances and others he just felt like testing. It was weird now that he was in the later years of his tutilage at the school, it made him confident, but, also more refined when it came to choosing his companions as the future was becoming more defined in front of him. That's when he spotted a lone figure that was perched underneath a tree.
The boy was in a more muggle style of attire, back to his roots of being a muggle-born, from what he knew at least having only been raised by his muggle mother. It made him more confident, being outside of those halls and robes, and allowed him to approach the figure at the tree who seemed to be fiddling with a pad of paper or something of that effect.
Whilst his approach wasn't masked in any sort of stealth, his appearance from her slightly to the side and behind might have made her jump. It wasn't until he was looking down at whatever she was doing upon the pad that he finally would speak up to the girl, "Most don't come to the summer activities to be alone," he said aloud, a little playful smirk sliding across the teens face that was becoming more defined through the growing years, "suppose' we all need a break from time to time tho'," he offered.
Just like that though he decided to plop himself down against the tree next to the younger girl and placed his back up against it, head tilting back, he looked up towards the branches and leaves that it had to offer before he tilted his head once more so that those golden eyes of his would look back at the girl, "You Hogwarts or one of the others?" he questioned having never seen the girl before, maybe he had and just hadn't noticed though.

As he continued to twirl the ivory-white wand within his fingers, he shifted slightly from where he was sitting and looked out to what was ahead of them. The girl fidgeted quite a lot and it was obvious to him that she wasn't quite comfortable around people. Zykeal wondered if the kid had any friends at all at this point. The words she spoke, very few of them mind you, was a suspicion that he had before he sat down next to her and he just nodded his head and looked over towards her with his golden hues sneaking a peak at the blank paper she hadn't written on yet, "Ye' same, Gryff," he offered nonchalantly.
Shifting his gaze, a sight was caught in the shape of a long cylindrical branch that seemed to have fallen from the tree above them. It was a few meters away and the boy had just sat down, why would he bother getting up? With this in mind, the ivory-white wand drew a picture out in front of him as he whispered in a quiet tone, "Accio," and allowed the magic to flow out. The mental image of the branch was what stayed in his mind as he summoned it to him and as it grew close he relinquished the magic and snatched the two-foot branch out of the air and smiled to himself.
"Good wood for carving," he offered as if he was talking to someone who might know anything about his hobbies or wood in general. The boy didn't even bother looking to see if a prefect or teacher was near, he didn't worry about those sort of things.
Setting his wand within his lap, his free hand shifted to his side and retrieved a chisel that was holstered in a sheath on his hip. With his eyes trained on the instrument and wood in front of him, he started to make little chips out of the wood as he made a comment to the individual next to him, "So, you a firstie or wha?" he questioned, "Suppose' ya might be, maybe going into second," he offered a little shrug to himself as if he was just carrying a conversation that was bound to be dead in the water.
