PERSONALITY Reducio Outgoing, loud, and unabashedly opinionated, Layla tends to draw attention in most places (and she enjoys doing exactly that). She hates feeling lonely, and, because of that, tends to try to befriend people whenever she can. That said, she will never let anyone or anything get in the way of her goals. She's quite dedicated to her aspirations and her opinions, and can definitely be described as a very ambitious person.

APPEARANCE Reducio face claim: lily chee layla comes out to a height of 4'5'' (about 135 cm.), around the expected height for her age. she typically stands with confidence and good posture, which sometimes makes her seem a bit taller than she actually is. one thing she refuses to do is cut her hair— it's long, dark, and falls just above her waist. she often leaves it out, but on occasions, will style it up in a complex braid. her eyes are the same color as her hair: a rich brown that twinkles with joy and mischief. her nails are usually painted, done sloppily whenever she's not home (her mother does them for her usually). as for her wardrobe outside of the uniform, it is full of bold, bright colors and patterns.

layla fen lee-tipton was born in july 2012 to witch nu ying lee (a former slytherin) and wizard leander tipton (a former hufflepuff) about seven years after the couple graduated from hogwarts. she was the first and only daughter of the couple, and was greeted with immeasurable affection and love from her wizard-born family.

born as the only daughter of a pureblood family, lay got everything she wanted from a very young age. she was raised in a well kept and love filled home in knightsbridge, london, and regularly introduced to the idea of magic. her parents are products of generation wealth, and both doted on their daughter regularly, giving her only the finest tutors, experiences, and gifts. nu ying worked as an extremely talented and devoted healer at st. mungo's, and leander worked mostly from home, watching their daughter while subsequently writing books on spell creation and his attempts at that same kind of magic. layla grew up fairly spoiled, but she also was very clearly well-loved.

her community was a small but supportive one. many, if not all, of nu-ying and leander's connections were other witches and wizards, and layla was raised amongst young purebloods or wizard-born children like herself. as such, layla always imagined she would one day end up at hogwarts, and knew about magic from the start due to her pureblood heritage. she attended pre-hogwarts schooling alongside some of these other friends, learning about the history of magic and more about the knowledge behind spells. all of it built up into one thing: excitement. she was excited to one day use her own magic.

her first sign of unintentional magic came fairly early. when first introduced to art classes, layla was guided by an instructor who demanded everything be done exactly how she demonstrated it. layla, wanting to do things her way, accidentally caused the teacher's paints to explode, coating the room and her artistic work in a mess of colors.

her pre-hogwarts schooling and preparation was another product of her pureblood upbringing. naturally, it also taught her to be confident in her talents. lay quickly became a bold and ambitious witch, which landed her (after much contemplation from the hat) in gryffindor once she began her first year.
