Jasper Sevior | First Year | Ravenclaw

Jasper spent most of his childhood in India with his mom. While his parents originally lived in the UK together, his mother moved to India when his grandfather fell sick and after he passed away, she stayed back to watch after his grandmother. Jasper would only come to the UK during vacations to stay with his father.

His mother was lively and encouraged Jasper to be more outgoing. Jasper, on the other hand, turned out to be relatively quiet, although that might have had more to do with his father. His father wasn't a strict person exactly, he could be fun after a little bit of convincing too. But he still wasn't the most fun person to be around. Jasper personally did not enjoy his summers there. His dad would always tell him to be quiet and not cause others bother. The constant back and forth made it hard for him to decide who he wanted to be.

He had a decent number of friends at school, but he never got close to anyone. It was hard to find people he felt like he belonged with, but he talked to a lot of people and kept jumping from group to group throughout his school life. Some people he was closer to than others but the only person he really was close to was his mother and grandmother.

Jasper has the potential to be silly but there's a threshold of comfort he needs to get there. He craves friendships and tries to get close to people but it's hard to regulate himself in a way that leads to him not coming off as weird. Balancing this is a hard task, especially now that he's overwhelmed with the idea of being at Hogwarts and entering a new world entirely, adding to his anxiety.

When he doesn't know someone, Jasper is trying to contribute to others' conversations and not say much outside of what's necessary. When he does know someone, he gets a bit more goofy and silly and likes to joke around, having a tendency to ramble more. He also has a tendency to be a people pleaser which gets him in situations that he doesn't really want to be in.

He's somewhat intelligent, but he's been less into books and more into doing things that seem interesting to him, he prefers going by his own pace and thinking, and the idea of doing things the way a school wants him to always bores him, but since his parents (his dad especially) expects so much from him, he tries his best to not let them down.

Jasper was seven, in the UK with his dad for summer vacations. His father had told him to go stay in his room for the rest of the day. He was angry, he could admit that. But he could've SWORN he had NOTHING to do with the kid falling over. He was quite literally struggling to run after him, the other kids in the park knew that too, they were laughing at how slow Jasper was and how quickly he was falling behind. But then all of a sudden the other kid fell over. When Jasper reached him, he was coughing and rubbing his eyes. How could a kid have thrown dirt at another kid while running BEHIND him? His father did not care, he blamed Jasper and scolded him for cheating and harming a kid. Not hearing his complaints about how he had NO control over what had happened. Jasper spend the rest of the day trying his best to keep himself under control, he didn't know what had happened but he was angry and he had hoped his best that he could somehow win, maybe fate favoured him. That wasn't a good thing though.

Jasper was spending another boring summer at his dad's place in London. Someone rang the doorbell and he wasn't quite sure what was going on. He overheard a few things here and there and was wondering if it's some sort of a joke. His father too thought the same, apparently. But after some explanations and something that Jasper didn't quite see but something that got his father to shut up, he was called outside and heard about how he would quite possibly be going to a magic school of some sort. He wasn't sure if it was a joke but his father seemed to be quite seriously thinking about this. He realized it wasn't a joke.

After that day, his parents spent a few days talking about it. His mother wasn't sure about it at first but she also knew his father wouldn't believe this easily so she thought he might be right about this. Although this did mean Jasper wouldn't be returning after the summer and just going to some other school away from both of his parents. She didn't like the idea of that, while his dad thought it would be a good experience and regardless of what they wanted, if he really did have magic (which both of them found somewhat easy to believe after the things they had seen happening weirdly around him), then they definitely needed to send him somewhere where he could learn more about himself and be among people like him.

So after a few months of his dad trying to "train" him for being by himself (of which Japser hated every second), he was waiting for a certain train that would be taking him to Hogwarts. His entire being filled with excitement, he waited for his new life to begin.
