Background: Silas comes from a unique family residing in Hogsmeade. His mother, Cressida, is a squib - having no magical attributes despite direct wizarding heritage, in her case, from both sides. His father, Andre, on the other hand, is a wizard coming from a muggle family. Their marriage was initially looked down upon, but eventually both sides of the family came around and accepted things as they were. The couple moved into a cozy house in Hogsmeade about a year prior to the wedding, with plans to raise their children there. When Silas was still a baby, relatives on his mother's side were doubtful of his future in the wizarding world. They feared he'd have a higher chance of never doing magic due to his heritage. His first time exhibiting magic was when he was almost three years old, it was not caught by anyone in his family. Silas and his parents were visiting his father's family in Cambridge, and he got spooked by a loud thunder that caught him completely off-guard. Without any intention, and evidently no awareness either, he caused the windows to slam shut. The family members who noticed this assumed it was the wind, since the weather really was a bit freaky. The second time was a bit over two years later, when Silas was five years old. He was waiting for a cousin he hadn't seen in months, and the balloon he was holding burst into confetti as soon as he spotted the long-awaited relative. His mother was with him and broke into laughter when she realized what had just happened. Silas grew up being constantly reassured and reminded by his parents that he would be loved for who he is, but having been raised in Hogsmeade, there was inevitable pressure to show any magical ability. In retrospect, he believes the struggle of having an atypical family in the wizarding world only made him stronger, and allowed him to find comfort in being unique. Silas was raised to embrace others regardless of their differences, likely because of his parents' painful experience with prejudice. He was home-schooled by both of his parents, each of them taking turns to syncronise his education with their careers, and as he grew older he seemed more and more enthusiastic over his curriculum at home. Silas also learned to accept those who were different from him at a very young age, and was probably better for it. He spent the majority of his childhood in Hogsmeade, with occassional visits to Cambridge where his father's side of the family lives.
