Hashir - FORTUNE
The sun was brightly shining, stretching its warm golden rays through the thin branches and delicate green leafs. That tree had been there for ages as the stones in that pavement. The only thing that kept moving and changing in that garden was the running water of a small stream that cut the ground as a living serpent. Ying missed this place, she had grown up in there, riding her first bike, giving her first falls, playing around with her favorite dolls...but there was a special place, a place she used to seek out to read comfortably among the nature of her family's mansion garden. Sitting on the fresh grass and enjoying the soft shade of the old Chinese Golden-rain tree.

But today wasn't a book who was making her company, but her headphones, her music and her thoughts. They say that people with the sign of Rabbit, according to the Chinese zodiac, are the symbol of meekness, kindness and liveliness. She had found that description in one of her caretaker magazines. Mrs. Liu had enjoyed these magazines for as long as Ying could remember. When she was younger, she loved to draw silly things on top of those pictures of famous people and see how Mrs. Liu used to run behind her through the house like she had committed a serious crime by messing up with her idols. Of course, this only happened when her father, Mr. Fang, wasn't at home. The point is, was she really like that? kind-hearted person? Somehow, sometimes she doubted that. Specially when thoughts of creating chaos flooded her mind and she wished that to release her own frustrations.

Suddenly Ying heard some leafs moving from behind her and she quickly turned too see who or what was approaching her from behind. A tiny head with shiny black fur and luminous amber eyes was looking expectantly at her, like it had also been caught by surprise in seeing her there. Ying felt a smile caressing her rosy lips at the sight of such beautiful and cute little creatures. "Am I in you spot?" Ying asked with a friendly smile hoping that the kitten wouldn't scare and run away from her, "Come here!" She invited in a soft and docile voice, stretching her hand slowly closer to the ground so the
little one could reach out to her at its own will and rhythm. With an increasing smile, Ying watched as the cute furry ball lazily and cautiously walked towards her, sniffing her fingers first with its little nose and then rubbing its snout on her delicate hand like acknowledging her as worthy of her company. Ying released small chuckles amused with the little cat. She was impressed with how quickly it seemed to trust her and leaned against her feet curling up in a ball also enjoying the coolness of the shade provided by the vegetation of the garden.

As the time passed, Ying realized she had to come back inside, otherwise she would have problems if her parents wouldn’t find her with her nose on a book and her hands taking on important notes and studies. “I need to go now” she nicely said to the kitten, then a thought just hit her…would she leave the little cutie in there? What would she do now? It didn’t seemed that Mr. and Mrs. Fang would enjoy the idea of her having a pet? Or would they? “Okay, now, we need to convince them!” She thought out loud, “Can you behave?” She asked to the little one, “Hope you can behave…” she muttered while as she got to her feet brushing her clothes of some dirt, "Come now, perhaps I can convince them you'll help me gain some more responsibility" She told, "Oh! Yeah...we need a name for you don't we?" Ying asked looking at the black kitten, then she stopped a minute to think. A smile illuminated her ivory face when a name came to her mind, "Fortune!" was the title of the song she has been listening too, "Miss Fortune, as a proper kitten!"
