Ferret and Rat, what can you expect?

Xin didn’t have any plans for today. Only a day left and she would be packing off to Hogwarts. That thought brought a bittersweet smile to her lips. Like most end-of-holidays, the usual cheery air was replaced with a much somber mood, as if another long term of studying is enough to wipe the smiles off students’ faces. Everyone was either buying their stuff for Hogwarts, or simply not wasting a second of their precious time to have as much fun as they could before the workload pours in.
The girl obviously belonged to the second kind. She wasn’t the most eager girl in studying, at least not where people can see it. Xin wasn't anything like those annoying Ravenclaws, always burying their heads away in books and think they're always right about everything. She had had much experience with this at summer camp. No, she was the kind of girl who kept an eye out for the treats that seemed to pop up here and there in life.
With WALL-E trailing excitedly on her shoulder, Xin entered Diagon Alley for the last time. She'll be leaving tomorrow, and wanted to see this place one more time. "Come on WALL-E!" she trotted, looking back occasionally to see if her rat could keep up. "I really like this place you know, I could stay in here- the girl looked round, "Wait- WALL-E, where have you-"
A ferret chasing a brown furry ball streaked past Xin. In horror, the girl realized that brown furry ball that ferret was chasing was her pet. "WALL-E, come here" she shouted as the ball pelted toward her, and scurried into the safety of her pocket. "Oi," Xin told the ferret, who was eyeing the pocket greedily, "Don't you chase my pet." Xin was quite so very amused by the two animals, and a small crept across her lips but quickly snapped into a serious face when WALL-E squeaked indignantly. The girl ruffled the rascal's furry head, and bent down to lecture the ferret about why we shouldn't chase other's pets. Not that it actually understands though.

Ferret and Rat, what can you expect?
Once they were inside their destination, Olive turned to her mum to see what they would do next. '' Well honey, I told a friend that I was going to help her out pick an outfit at Madam Malkin's, maybe you'd like to get some ice cream with Sora?'' Minai suggested eagerly in Japanese. '' I'm sure that it would be more fun for you than listening to us old women talk. Besides, you can't refuse to go to Florean Fortescue's!''
A bit sad to be parting ways with her mother, Olive grabbed the money she gave her, and with Sora dangling from her shoulders like a scarf, went to the ice cream parlor near the wand shop where she would be going with her mother next.
The future Hogwarts student lined up to get ice cream (strawberry flavored, of course), but she got a bit startled once she felt Sora get down from her shoulders. The ferret was always up for mischief, and letting her run away on her own in a place full of people was not the best idea. However, Olive was a tad too busy paying for her ice cream to be able to mind Sora. The next thing she saw once she finished paying was the blood drawn from her face in embarrassment.
"Don't you chase my pet."
'' Oh my God, oh my I'm sooo sorry! '' Olive said, crouching to pick up Sora and delicately shoving her into her bag. The ferret looked grumpy but did not complain and didn't budge, however, she was definitely still looking at the pocket where the rat was now in.
'' Sora keeps being mischievous all the time, I swear that it won't happen again, is your mouse ok? '' Olive apologized again, referring to the girls rat as a mouse. In her opinion, calling a rat rat sounded quite offensive, so she preferred to call them mouses instead- not that it really mattered, but it was of importance for Olive.

| '' Oh my God, oh my I'm sooo sorry! '' The owner of the ferret - a girl probably the same age as Xin - came running over and shoved the creature into her bag. The girl had asian features and long black hair, although Xin was more than sure she was Japanese or Korean. Still, mother had taught her not to ask. '' Sora keeps being mischievous all the time, I swear that it won't happen again, is your mouse ok? '' the girl apologized worriedly. "Don't worry," Xin assured her, "WALL-E's perfectly fine, aren't you?" A muffled squeak in her pocket told everything, clearly WALL-E was still too afraid to come out. Exasperated by her pet, Xin broke off a piece of cheese she kept in her purse and allowed the terrified creature to nibble a corner. WALL-E, in Xin's memory had always been a carefree little mouse. Well, she bought it just three days ago, but three days is enough to get an idea of what someone, or something is like. However, being chased by ferret who wants to eat raw mouse meat will probably going to give him nightmares for at least a week. "By the way, Sora's a cute name for a ferret," Xin grinned. In truth, the girl thought that Sora is quite a common name. Sora? Has a nice ring to it, but perhaps less creatively named than WALL-E. Still, Xin wasn't going to offense the girl, so didn't elaborize. She held out her hand when she realized she hadn't introduced herself yet. "By the way, my name is Fang Yun-Xin, sorry for the late introduction," Xin shrugged and added, "And you?" | ||

Ferret and Rat, what can you expect?
'' You named it Wall-E? As in, the movie?'' Olive said, her voice shaking a little as she was keeping inside the huge amount of information that she wanted to blurt about the Pixar film. The fact that she could not keep her hyper-fixations to herself for a very long time was quite embarrassing, so the witch did not want to scare the rat owner off by suddenly fangirling over the film.
Olive beamed in thanks at the mention of her ferret as the girl complimented her name choice. '' Thanks! It sounds cool in English, but it's sort of plain in Japanese if you think about it. It means 'sky', so it's not really wow or whatever, you know what I mean.'' she rambled excitedly.
Olive kept smiling as the girl introduced herself. Making introductions already? She must be quite extroverted. Olive thought to herself. '' Nice to meet you, Xin! I'm Ollie. Well, Olive Campbell, but Ollie, Ol, or even Liv for short. My dad calls me Camby too! Do you have any nicknames?'' Maybe, just maybe you should shut up Ol, she said to herself as she finished the annoyingly long introduction. The metamorph's hair tips turned slightly blue at the embarrassment and pressure of meeting someone new. But they vanished quite quickly after she was able to collect herself again.
'' Are you shopping for your school stuff? Because I am! Well, I already did but I needed to buy a few stuff like glass scales. And my mom is going to talk with a lady at Madam Malkin's, not sure what for but, I'm going to be by my self for some time, maybe you want to stay with me? We can talk you know, unless you're busy.''

[ august 31, 2023 ] ♥ outfitWALL-E had finished his piece of cheese and was nibbling her pocket again.
As always.
Xin groaned and rubbed her temples, she was starting to regret buying him in the first place. As the girl tried to coax the little mouse out of her pouch, her acquaintance asked a question, a question on WALL-E. Which fortunately made him poke a head out at once upon the hearing of his name.
“Yes,” the future lion confirmed coolly, as she watched the other girl fidget around, about to burst like a wet water balloon. God, what is she doing? Xin was barely hiding her disdain as she looked on, She's not mental, is she? Also a fan of the movie WALL-E, the girl understood her acquaintance's feelings. Well, only the part on how great the pixar movie was. For goodness sake why did she have to twitch and fidget like that? “You want to talk about it?” asked Xin, her tone bland and curt. She offered the girl thin smile, not wanting her to pop because of all the fangirl stuff that was apparently building up inside her.
Just as I thought, The girl's words on her pet's name choice further proved how common it was. It already sounds not really wow or whatever. But Xin just said the words inside her head, it wasn't smart to offend someone she had just met a few minutes ago.
Then the girl moved on to introductions, rambling an annoyingly loooong introduction. “Hello... uh- ” she felt extremely uncomfortable calling nicknames, so stuck to - “Olive.” - instead. A tint of blue suddenly embroidered the girl, no, Olive's ebony hair, but disappeared almost immediately. Wow! Xin could barely contain her excitement, “A-a-are you a... metamorph?” she was already stuttering, more enthusiastic than ever upon meeting an ability written only in books. “Don't get me wrong,” added the girl, “I've got nothing against metamorphing abilities, in fact, I would love to have it!” It seemed as if she had flipped into a completely different person. Well, talkative, and more importantly, relaxed and carefree.
Soon the best part came, Olive invited her to hang out together and do the shopping stuff. It was a strange feeling, to actually be liked and wanted by someone. She had always stuck up like a sore thumb anywhere she went, and her cold personality didn't exactly help. “Sure,” Xin grinned in an embarrassed sort of way, “It's my pleasure to accompany you!”
Seems like this trip wouldn't be a complete bust after all.@olive campbell –––––– ♥
