Sophie was born on March 23, 2012 in Paris, France, making her a proud March Aries. She was born to Clemont Aunclair and Jean Bonet. Her father, Clemont is an Auror to the French Ministry of Magic and her mother was a full-blooded Veela working part-time as an editorial model. This makes Sophie a part-Veela and registered half-breed
Sophie's immediate childhood was quite happy. She grew up in the 16th Arrondissement of Paris as an only child, teaming up with a young ginger cat she adopted known as Garfield. Sophie's parents were adamant about her education from an early age and taught her English as she was learning to speak, write, and read making her bilingual.
Sophie's mother passed away when she was 4 due to a rogue Confingo attack, leaving Sophie alone with her widowed father. This would start a line of familial tension that had been boiling ever since Clemont and Jean's initial coupling. The two were never married due to the disapproval of Clemont's family, a distinct French pureblooded clan who did not want the tainting of a half-breed within the family line. With Sophie's birth, the Aunclair's believed that she was not a true pureblooded member of the family and rejected Clemont, Jean, and Sophie leading Sophie to take her mother's last name instead.
With Jean's passing, Clemont became increasingly distant from Sophie, being far too heartbroken to even imagine facing his daughter. He sent Sophie to numerous preparatory schools to fill the days and continue his late wife's wish for Sophie to have a full education. When Sophie was 8, Clemont sent her to live in London with his brother and sister-in-law so she could receive an English education and be prepared to enter Hogwarts as Clemont disapproved of the teachings at Beauxbatons.
Sophie was heartbroken to leave her friends in Paris, her closest being her best friend, Amelie. She was terrified to leave her only known home and felt obsessed with the idea that her father did not want her near him. Sophie only found solace in the comfort of Garfield. When Sophie moved to her new home, she experienced her first interaction with wandless magic when she accidentally floated her pet cat, Garfield up into the air. Garfield had been attempting to eat Sophie's chocolate when she was across the room, although it is toxic for cats. Sophie felt a desperation to protect her cat and before she could run across the room, Garfield begin to hover in the air. Sophie's instant relief and confusion caused the cat to stay in the air, much to Sophie's amusement and excitement. Her aunt and uncle were overjoyed at the natural presentation of magic and immediately informed her father who issued his congratulations.
This moment would resolve Sophie's insecurity and install an excitement in her to prepare for wizarding school and magic. Sophie begin to make new friends at her new preparatory school, friends who could tell her all about the wizarding scene in London. Amongst them were her close friends Lila, Trevor, and Nicki.
3 years passed quite quickly and Sophie finally got her acceptance letter to Hogwarts via a large barn owl, leaving her overjoyed at the thought of finally fulfilling her true wizarding destiny.
