Knox Knoles was born to a close-knit muggle family. He has one older sister (2 Year difference) and one younger sister (2 Year difference.) Knox had a close relationship with his sisters, but they still bickered and teased each other as siblings typically do. Growing up with two traditionally feminine sisters, Knox found himself critiquing his physical appearance often as he so often saw his sisters do. This led to Knox becoming interested in fashion, and dressing well.

Knox grew up in Britain and attended a state primary school with both of his sisters. His parents were never overly bearing about making good grades, and the importance of school, but something about hearing the "good job" and other praise from his parents kept him focused on succeeding academically. Around the age of 7, Knox had his first instance of magic. As a child, Knox feared the dark. When he would sleep, he would always ask his mother to tuck him into bed, and turn his night-light on, so that he was tucked away before the lights ever actually turned off. His sisters would occasionally tease him for this. Although the nightlight only emitted a soft glow, it provided him comfort that he could see most of his room. In the middle of one night, when Knox was having a particularly hard time falling asleep, he noticed his night light begin to flicker and then turn off. After a few moments passed, and Knox began to realize that the bulb was not going to be turning back on, he began to feel his heart beat rapidly. His imagination began to run wild, and he began to think of all the different things that could be hiding in the dark. When his breathing quickened that’s when the night light immediately began to glow again, but this time much brighter, bright enough for him to see almost the entirety of his room. Although Knox thought this was strange, he found a sort of comfort in knowing that the bulb of his nightlight was now working properly. Knox was always puzzled by this situation, but it finally began to explain itself in given time.

Everything changed when Knox was nine, and his older sister was hand-delivered an acceptance letter to a school called "Hogwarts" on her 11th birthday. He quickly found out that it was a school dedicated to learning magic, which was a concept that he only dreamed about before that day. Although his sister was only two years older, he found himself anxiously awaiting his 11th birthday, he hoped that he too, was accepted into the school of wizardry. Although Knox typically had a calm and collected demeanor, he found himself becoming jealous of the stories his sister would tell about Hogwarts when she came home for the holidays. Despite this jealousy, Knox would always be the first in his family to ask his sister questions about where she had been going to school. And as he awoke on the day of his 11th birthday, something in his intuition told him that he would be receiving a letter from a Hogwarts professor, just as his sister did.
