Practice Makes Perfect...Right?
── ❋ ──
IC Date: June 2, 2023 | @Cecily Quinn & @Ami Procoppio𝓐madea was giddy with excitement. Somehow, she had convinced her two best friends to entertain her desire to moderate an unofficial duel. Ever since Amadea had stepped down from the dueling team, she had wondered if she should rejoin the team. It was hard for her to justify participating in the activity when it wasn't actively contributing toward her future, but she knew she needed something fun to take her mind off of the stress of deciding what she was going to spend the rest of her life doing. Ideally, Amadea would eventually work her friends up to the level of dueling Amadea herself, so she could enjoy the rush of dueling and decide for sure if she would try rejoining the team.
For now though, she was taking things slowly, especially since neither Ami or Cecily considered themselves duelists. Cecily was an incredible Quidditch player, but Amadea was unsure how well those skills translated from the pitch to the dueling stage. Ami also used to be a Quidditch player, but Amadea was unsure about how much experience her fellow Hufflepuff had with dueling. Thinking back on it, the only real duel she had been in with her friends was when they had the showdown against Ruby Cazares, the rude Slytherin she had encountered in the dungeons. This would certainly be interesting, Amadea thought to herself.
She entered the Duelling Club, not fully prepared for the wave of nostalgia that hit her. Amadea had spent countless hours in this very room, both participating in duels and moderating them. Even when she wasn't actively dueling, she spent a lot of time working with the other captains on logistics and planning tournaments. It was weird to be back in the space now, knowing that the team she had once dedicated so much time to continued on without her. It was another reminder that she was such a small part of an infinitely expansive world that kept on spinning even if someone needed to take a break. To distract herself from the thoughts in her head that were quickly becoming more existential by the second, Amadea began clearing the area to prepare for the duel. Her friends both seemed to be running late, but that was nothing new. If there was anything Amadea could predict about her two best friends, it was that they were both very unpredictable. That's why she knew this duel was going to be very interesting. She was excited to spend time with them and also work on her coaching skills; hopefully she could shape up the two Quidditch players into semi-decent duelists. Even if she couldn't, she knew they would have loads of fun in the process.── ❋ ──
