the death of reena delgado
yes you read that right. forward dated to July 5th
reena had no plans to go to summer camp. the last time she went it wasnt particularly enjoyable nor anything quite exciting. and her mother had insisted that this would be a great time for her to get to know her moms boyfriend (who she was not a fan of). Reena agreed only because she saw the chance to visit her father as well. she didnt know how the whole divorce thing was supposed to work but she did know that thinks would even out during the summer. a few days after school ended and Reena was unpacked, her mother told her to get dressed.
Reena, with no excuse to say no, did so and put on a baby blue blouse and jeans. she put on her running sneakers (the first shoes at the door) and a clip in her hair. her mother gave her a look when she looked at the sneakers but decided to say nothing of it because today was supposed to be a happy day.outside the leaky cauldron
as they walked, her mother glanced at reena with a smile. "so, i was just thinking we could have a mother daughter date you know? get some lunch, maybe go shopping..." Reena rolled her eyes, but even her mom could see her hidden smile. her mom nudged reena with her elbow as she opened the door and they walked in.
The two were seated and they immediately began to discuss the menu. When they got their food, reena stole a fry from her mom as soon as she could. reenas cheerful mood was quickly soiled when she spotted the boyfriend. Reena tilted her head towards him "why is he here???" She hissed, and her mother plastered on a smile. "Um, I dont .. know.. actually. what *are* you doing here?" He smiled and began to explain.
reena tuned him out and began shoving more fries in her mouth. "... well i guess you can join us love" Was what she heard. Reena choked and glared at her mom as her boyfriend sat down. Reena tried to speak and choked even more. "Reena, stop it." reena was not the type to always make a scene. instead she quickly tried to get the food out of her throat, but her thinking soon washed into a buzz as if her brain was a tv that lost signal. "Reena. Stop it. Now." Her mom seemed to think this was on purpose. Reena's coughing came to a stop and she collapsed. "Reena." Worry was in her voice. fear. "Reena?!" no answer. Her mother ran around the table and grabbed her daughter.
her face paled. "REENA" she began to shake her daughter. she would soon yell for help and help would come, but it was too late. .
