With a pureblooded witch named Robin Alora as her mother and an unknown pureblooded as her father, Nara Alora has found her life surprisingly devoid of magic. Of course, Nara knew her birth father was some wizard with a high status, but he had died months before she was born, and her mother- still grief-stricken- had decided that it would be better off that Nara didn't know much about him. The idea was rightfully absurd to Nara herself, but it wasn't like she could pry that kind of information out of her beloved mother. (Though, from the letters she's secretly read, she was able to piece together the dangers of her biological father's work; it seems like him being killed as an auror by some rogue criminal was something her mother had expected.)
And besides, her stepfather, Kurt, was the best dad she could ever ask for anyway. He looks like he could be her birth dad anyway, with the way their skin color shines a warm brown in the sun, and their long hair looks identical when it's tied up, dark and coily.
He was just a muggle, though, and he was partly the reason why Robin had seldom use magic in their household. After all, she had been so fascinated with muggles after meeting her now-husband out 'on the town' a few years after Nara had been born, it just didn't feel right to her to use magic, not when there were much more interesting ways for things to be done.
Not even Nara could put a finger on why Robin enjoyed the muggle things instead of magic. What did she even see in the way muggles heated up their pans with fire instead of wands or wash their clothes with a machine instead of magic? Time and time again, the question and its response never faltered. 'Why don't we use magic, mum?' 'Have you seen the way muggle things work? Why would I ever want to use my wand when machinery works much cooler?' Though, Nara still doesn't entirely get it.
If there is one word that could be used to describe Nara, sleepy is definitely it. No matter how much exercise she gets or how healthy her diet is, it seems as though she's constantly tired and ready to snooze.
Growing up, it really was a cause for concern, her mother thought. A young girl who should've been rambunctious, yet still preferred sleeping over playing with her friends? It wasn't like Nara was falling asleep at the dinner table, but she should've been outside playing games with the neighborhood children! Not taking long naps on the couch after reading a good book. Even after consulting both magical and muggle medical professionals (as per the request of Kurt), the consensus was this: Nara was just a sleepy girl.
Due to the lack of magic she had been exposed to, Nara wasn't entirely sure what had happened in her first ever experience with it. There she was, just a few days before her ninth birthday and BAM-! Her hairbrush had turned into a book, one with a title that was indecipherable to Nara. After a few seconds of stunned silence, she called out for her mother with a 'Hey... something happened...'. Needless to say, Robin wasn't surprised but... why was the book a Russian translation of the Bible? They don't speak Russian?!
