tricks up my sleeve

Winter was in full force since Megara had returned back to Hogwarts following holiday break, which meant that she spent the majority of her free time near the closest fireplace indoors. She had caught up on her assignments for the week, leaving her with an unusual amount of time to sit with her thoughts. The Gryffindor common room was far too cramped for her liking, so she gathered up her journal, quill, and pot of ink and stowed them into her bag. She headed down the Great Hall, which wasn't any less populated than the common room, but the larger room allowed for the students inside to be more spread out. Megara had hoped she could avoid company this afternoon, but the students were spread out amongst the tables in a manner that left no gaps of solitude. Megara stepped to the back of the hall to quickly survey who all was at the tables, so that she could find the best spot to sit and think.
Ever since she had returned from break, she had been itching to pulling pranks and wrecking havoc. She had talked about getting into mischief with some of her housemates, but so far she had only been involved in minor pranks in the common room. She was taking time this afternoon to try to flesh out some ideas she had been toying with. She had joined some adventurous clubs in the fall that she hoped would spark some sort of inspiration. Embarking on scavenger hunts trying to guess items based on blindfolded touch had certainly given her some ideas- she just needed to pen them.
After sizing up the various students across the tables, Megara spotted a Hufflepuff from some of her classes that she recognized. She was unsure of the girl's name, but she figured that sitting next to a fellow first year would be the best option for delving into her planning. She made her way over to the girl, hoping she was at least friendly enough to give up some of the space next to her. Megara approached the girl with a cautious, "Excuse me," to get her attention. "I'm not sure if we've formally met, but I recognize you from classes. I'm Megara Archeron. Would you mind if I sit here?"

It was a cold winter morning, busy with people talking to their friends after coming home from vacations with their family. This was exactly what I planned on doing except for the fact that most of my friends hadn’t come back yet. The others were busy doing other things. Things I wasn't involved in.
So, I took the time to read the book I had gotten last from the Library on Saturday, the day I had come back from my vacation with my parents.
This book was ‘Quidditch through the Ages’, a book I had probably read many times before. But I knew for a fact that I hadn’t remembered much of it. What I did remember was that a friend, Hannah, had recommended this book to me. So I decided to read it once again.
The Great Hall seemed like the best place to read, not the library because although the library was big like the Great Hall, the library was currently full of people chattering about random things. Not that the Great Hall was any better, but it just seemed like a good place to hangout and maybe make a new friend.
You still have to make another new friend, Reyna. I sighed. Sadly, I had a bet with my friend Hazel who didn’t know what school I was going to, that I would make another new friend. And this seemed like a good opportunity.
It seemed like my wish was answered because just then a girl came over to where I was sitting and said, "Excuse me," to get my attention. Then she added, "I'm not sure if we've formally met, but I recognize you from classes. I'm Megara Archeron. Would you mind if I sit here?"
I grinned. What could I say? Wishes do come true! “Of course you can sit here! My name’s Reyna Evergreen! How’s your winter break been? What have you been doing over the break?” I replied.
Hoping that I hadn’t bombarded her with too many questions, I waited for her to answer. Megara had chocolate brown hair and piercing blue eyes and she was holding a bag in her hands. I wonder what the bag has inside of it? From what I could tell there was a journal and a few other things. I did want to ask more questions but I held myself back and waited instead.
