Letters to Home PV Aileen Johnson Closed

Dad and Ma,

I started writing as soon as I could -- I was sorted into Ravenclaw house! I hope to do our house proud, Ma. I've already made a few friends. The girls in my dorm are all very nice and I met some others during classes. I feel confident in my studies and I'm thinking of starting a study group during the weekends. It would be a good way to make like-minded friends. I'll write whenever I find the time. It seems I'll be quite busy.

The Ravenclaw finished her letter with her best cursive. She rolled the parchment and tied it with a blue ribbon -- to commemorate her sorting. The owl had already been promised treats upon return. He seemed to be less inclined to bite than the last one she had tried to send a letter off with. Quickly, she tied the letter to his leg, speaking to him in hushed tones and allowed him to perch on her arm until he was ready to take flight.

Dymphna watched him go until she could no longer see him, disappearing into the clouds. It was likely that her parents would receive her letter in a few days and send the family owl with a return letter. She couldn't wait to hear from them, knowing that her mother would be proud that she was sorted into her alumni house. Her family had a history within Hogwarts, though not always tied to the Ravenclaw house. Her dad had been in Hufflepuff, as her grandmother was before him. 

Unlike a few students she knew who had spent generations within one house, she was proud to know that her own had qualities to be sorted within all of the houses. Thinking about the other houses made her think of her dear friend Aileen, who she had practically known from birth as their families were close. Being Pureblood at birth seemed to give them a boost within society but Dymphna could care less about her blood status. All that mattered to her was being a reliable, trustworthy person, someone that others could lean on. She hoped that she could be a good friend to Aileen now that they were attending school together.
