I haven’t written to mom yet, have you? It’s been one week since the sorting. Do you think she’ll be surprised I’m in Ravenclaw? I mean, I know you didn’t exactly say so, but I know you were surprised too. I remember on the Hogwarts Express last week you mentioned that I might be good for Gryffindor. Did you mean that?
Anyway, I’m not sure if I should tell mom that I don’t really think I belong in the “smart” house. I know she’ll be proud of me, but I think it’s been some kind of mistake. Does the sorting hat make mistakes? I guess I’ll see how it goes, but I’m not sure I’ll enjoy being the dumb one for seven years.
My bunk mates seem nice, still don’t know a whole lot about them. One is really smart and the other seems really cool.
Are you doing anything this weekend? Maybe we can hangout. If you go to Hogsmeade can you get me some candy or something?

Hey, so I’ve written to mom and dad. Dad was thrilled, of course. I think he just wants me to become more academic like him I guess. Mom said she was also excited for me and hoped that maybe being surrounded by the other Ravenclaws might help my marks. I don’t think so.
You see, I’m still struggling to focus, just like in elementary school back in Arizona. History of Magic is just the worst. I was excited when I thought I heard a ghost taught it? Nope, not even. You’d think they’d have a spell or potion to help with ADHD. Do they?
But! I think I’ve discovered something I might actually be good at! And it’s not even hard for me to pay attention in class and I find the textbook really interesting. I guess I’ll have to surprise you with my amazing marks at the end of the year! And sorry, it’s not Potions. We all can’t be as amazing with Potions as you are. Speaking of which, do you have some free time to help me with my Potions homework tomorrow night? The numbers are starting to get to me.

What do you remember anything about mom’s extended family in America? I find my memories are all jumbled. You were older and I’m hoping you might remember something. Or has mom ever explained the rumors about her family? Do you know the real reason we moved to London? I know all these questions seem random, but I’m been thinking about them for quite some time. Something has come up and I’m hoping it doesn’t have to do with our… ‘interesting’ relatives. Anyway, I’d love some answers but don’t tell mom or anyone else.
