On a chilly Saturday of October, many Brisk Basilisks agreed to participate in a friendly race to train their new recruits and keep their reflexes sharp. Though some obstacles are real, most are simulated to mimic those found in a race thanks to other students taking part, or spells the team have had clearance to use with the assistance of staff. The idea is to create a less likely to end-in-the-hospital-wing type of race.

For this race, participants will begin on the lake shore by the treeline where they will mount their brooms. From there, they will ride into the forest where they will have to weave through trees. As a part of this, they will inadvertently cross a portion of the forest occupied by flying keys which they will have to contend with. Thanks to a willing adult, they'd been charmed to attack when crossed.

Once our racers have escaped, they will reemerge into the clearing and face some unexpected brightness from clouds parting (can't beat nature!). After a nice flight, they'll find themselves near the water, where students using a toy catapult that's been made larger with Engorgio will throw various vegetables and other items they may see fit to throw at our racers to dodge.

From there, the group will turn back towards land and zoom through a number of passages, from easy to more moderately narrow in a demonstration of prowess. Once out, they'll go into the path of an animated tree using magic to enchant to move and cause interference. The idea is to mimic the whomping willow while keeping the motions slower and more manageable for the more viridous racers.

From the ruins, a number of students from their house (and potentially others), will be waiting with a number of balls at their disposition. Most golf and ping pong balls to pelt towards the racers, a few might find themselves inclined to up the ante (will roll).
