Kyle sat at the Ravenclaw table, picking at his breakfast, looking around every few minutes as if a parade or a flock of owls would suddenly appear. Of course he had gotten gifts from home, but he still felt quite lonely. At their old school, Kyle had a close-knit group of friends. Here, they only had one.
Don't get me wrong, I mean, I love Pip, and I love Hogwarts in general, but some more friends would be... nice. Kyle thought wistfully. God, I sound arrogant, but I think this is the one day I get to be selfish.
Again, they looked down the table at the rest of the Ravenclaws, as if someone would jump up and say "Wait! Aren't we forgetting something!? It's Kyle's birthday!".
Someday I'll be more outgoing. I hope. He suddenly stood, without thinking, I mean, there's no time like the present.
He flopped down next to a brown-haired boy with a dramatic sigh, "Hey, you're Ashley, right? How are you doing today?" He cringed slightly at himself but barreled on, after all, it would probably be worse to disappear back into the shadows. "What classes are you looking forward to?"

Birthday Blues
It was early on April 16th, a day that was indescribably joyous and hopeful. He sat down and enjoyed the food and everything that Hogwarts has to offer. Numerous students from various Houses had filled the hall, and they all appeared to be engaged in friendly conversation and enjoying a pleasant morning, much like Ashley was. Professors as well congregated in the student-filled hall and sat on their table while eating breakfast.Spoken Words:X|Thoughts: X
Ashley proceeded to have breakfast without really noticing what was going on since he found the atmosphere in the great hall to be pleasant. On rare instances, you might see him chatting with a bunch of buddies and discussing anything and everything. He treasured his time alone so much that he usually chose to be by himself.
He was conducting himself as usual until a young man who appeared to be in his Hogwarts school year approached him. "Hey, you're Ashley, right? How are you doing today?"
He replied, "I'm great, thanks for asking, and how about you? Also, who are you?" Strangers approaching him to start a discussion had become routine, but when the boy glanced at the other youngster, he couldn't help but notice that something wasn't right. Although it was not his place to bother, everyone eventually needs someone to turn to. "What classes are you looking forward to?" ... Ashley wasn't sure how to respond to the boy, but eventually his mind came up with a plan. "Defence Against the Dark Arts, and what about you?" Ashley enquired while smiling.@Kyle Sutton
