It is another day for another stage of official Duelling. While waiting for the official one, Cash had some fun helping the younger years when they wanted to practice slinging their spell in the case at some point they moved up to the main roster of their respective Duelling house teams. Before today's match rolled in, they already got the names of the Duellists that will take on the piste.
Their eyes scanned the name when they received it in their hand. The four names that they held on their hand, they had met before so Cash knows which faces belong to which names. As Cash climbed up the platform, they need to remind themselves to breathe. Duelling Club room still gave them mixed-up feelings. Especially hurt and the memory of what they lost.
As Cash stood in the middle of the stage, they looked down at the piece ripped of parchment that they bunched in their palm. They unfurled the crumpled paper and spoke out the name. "Baird, McCubbin, to the stage," Cash said without any other nice introduction. "Barlowe,"Cash scanned the room to see where Barlowe stood.
The last Duellist was the least of Cash's favorites. Whether Cash liked it or not, they must call her to the platform. "Ro-I mean Salwis, you know where you should stand,"Cash let out a sigh. Calling out Sam's name put a sour taste in their mouth. Once the respective Duellists stand on either side of the stage, Cash opened their mouth.
"Welcome lads and lasses to the last stage of Duelling for the year 2023,"They addressed the loud cheering of spectators. When the cheering died down a little bit, "I expected all of you to know how the rules and regulations of Duelling work since this is not your first,"They added some more while their green eyes bounced from one Duellist to another.
"Since this is the last stage of Duelling, I expected full of action and entertainment," They continued. Cash then took out their own wand from the wand holster that was strapped on their left upper arm and pointed up in the air. "Wand at the ready! Get set! Violaceous!"They said the perfect incantation and move their wand in a perfect fluid motion for the Purple Firecrackers - Conjuration Charm.
They had decided that the Purple Firecracker - Conjuration Charm will be their trademark for every match they will oversee before the first round rolled in. As the purple firecracker boomed and fizzled out above the Duellist's heads, the four of them may begin their duel. "The gate of hell is open and you may fight for your survival,"The young Ironwoods uttered.
"May the odds be ever in your favor. Let the battle begin!"They instructed in case the four of them missed the first time Cash said it.

Hufflepuff vs Ravenclaw: Match 4
Unlike all her previous dueling partners, Samantha actually didn't like this one. During their first meeting, Adelaide had already earned the hostility of the prefect and it only worsened the next time they had seen each other. However, her fellow bird wasn't the only person she disliked. Their moderator, Cash, had done way more to earn Samantha's hatred. The dislike had been mutual since Samantha's first year and even this time, Cash couldn't hide their annoyance as they called the third year to the stage.
"Good luck," the brunette told Addie before turning to their opponents. Honestly, Samantha liked her opponents more than her partner and her moderator. If she could replace AngelFyre, who she knew through Simon, with Cash she would have done it without a second thought. Logan also seemed way cooler than Cash, which wasn't that hard but still. "Good luck," Samantha repeated the words but now aimed at the two Hufflepuff duelists with a genuine smile.

Hufflepuff vs Ravenclaw: Match 4
Logan was not paired with Dorion for this round of duel, which made her sad because they had done so well together the previous round. She was going to do well this round to though, AngelFyre was a great person and Logan knew they were both going to do well. Carefully making her way in front of the Ravenclaw duelists, a genuine smile was present on her face at the sight of who she was against. Samantha Salwis was not someone she had interacted with often, but Logan would still consider her a good person. Having been a prefect previously, Logan was able to meet quite a few people and Samantha was one of them. Although Elsi was also one of the reasons she even knew about the younger girl in the first place.
"Good luck," Logan said to AngelFyre with a grin before nodding over at the Ravenclaw team in a different form of good luck. Maybe this round was going to go really well, she hoped it did but no one was ever able to tell how the the matches were going to turn out.

Hufflepuff vs Ravenclaw: Match 4
This was the first time that Adelaide was duelling with someone that she previously knew, and unfortunately for both of them, it was someone that she didn't like. Though, she didn't think Samantha liked her all that much either. It was a bit inconvenient, considering they were both Duelling Captains, but it wasn't her fault that Samantha just knew how to be exceedingly annoying.
She briefly nodded at her partner, not even deigning to reply as she turned her attention to the two opponents in front of her. She wasn't familiar with either of them, but she was at least familiar with their moderator for this duel, and she definitely liked Cash a whole lot more than her own teammate. Hopefully this duel wouldn't go terribly, they could still win this even if her and Sam didn't exactly like each other. Taking a deep breath, she steeled herself for the rounds to come.Action: As strategized

It was already Stage 3 in the Dueling season, and AngelFyre was finding it hard to comprehend that she was about to participate in her 4th duel. Astonishing. She was excited because Hufflepuff was doing very well this year - they were currently in a tie for first place with Ravenclaw for the most wins coming into this Stage, so there was possibly a little added pressure, but not much. And that pressure was coming from an internal, self-imposed force and in no way from an external one. It was just naturally part and parcel of being a Hufflepuff. Beat yourself up - not your teammates.
As she moved onto the piste, it was hard to miss all of the tension blanketing the stage from a number of directions. She smiled widely at Samantha and nodded. She did not know Samantha well at all, but Simon loved her to pieces, so that was good enough for AngelFyre to know she was good people. She then turned her attention and smiled and nodded at Adelaide. Adelaide had moderated her last duel against Gryffindor and that was really all AngelFyre knew of her, but it was very clear her opponents were not fond of each other.
And as if that were not bad enough, AngelFyre knew for certain that there was no love lost between this duel's current moderator, Cash Ironwoods, and Samantha. In her first year, AngelFyre participated in an Epiphany errand in the Astronomy classroom and Samantha and Cash were at each other's throats throughout the evening. It was a most unsettling few hours and neither girl held back much of anything. If the two were to ever duel each other in the future, AngelFyre figured it would be a real bloodbath.
"Good luck to the both of you," AngelFyre stated, meaning it most sincerely. "No matter how this turns out, I hope we all have some fun." She then turned to the duel's moderator and nodded in acknowledgement to them as well. Finally, looking over to Logan, she was most pleased to find Logan grinning at her. She knew it would all be fine, no matter how everything went down, but just as AngelFyre was missing Emma in those moments, she knew Logan was just as likely missing Dorion. Still, AngelFyre could not suppress her own wide grin back at the girl. "This is it, partner. We can do this. Good luck to you, too. Heck, good luck to us!" and AngelFyre happily got herself into position, but not before reaching up to rub her badger pin from Simon for even more good luck.
The magic is real.

As round 1 of stage 3 is underway, Cash's green eyes bounce from one Duellist to the next waiting for whoever dared to take the first step, and sling their spell. For a split second, there was no movement until Cash let out a protest. "Come on, lasses! release your inner intimidation," They roared.
Once Cash said that, a wand from the side of the piste where the yellow Badgers team stood raised up to the air. The first one that dares enough to sling their spell is none other than AngelFyre McCubbin. Cash had met the girl in passing in the past but it is a story for another time to tell. Right now Cash need to focus their attention on this match.
AngelFyre McCubbin, with all her confidence and swagger, said the incantation and made the wand movement for Knockback Jinx. A bold move to begin the match with. But it seems she did not put enough concentration on her spell. Instead of hitting her intended target, the spell backfired on herself. Cash crunched their eyebrows when the hard force knock McCubbin a few steps back.
"You okay there, McCubbin?"The Slytherin Duelling Co-Captain asked the young badger. Once McCubbin gave out her word of affirmation regarding her state, Cash will nod their head to the girl's answer and proceeded with the match. Following McCubbin's step, it is time for Logan Baird to take the stage.
Dueling matches can be chaotic and deafening sometimes. But Cash had to admit, there a stillness in the chaos. Take an example, Logan Baird. No matter how loud the cheering and the screaming from the spectator stand, it did not deter her. Baird focused her eyes to where Salwis stood on the platform.
With a spell and wand movement that Cash has never seen before up to this match, Logan Baird cast Full-Body Bind Curse at Samantha Salwis but it seems Salwis see it coming. And thus, before the spell could even be rendered her unmoving, Salwis had stepped out of the way dodging the incoming assault from the fourth-year badger.
When it was the house of blue and silver turn, Adelaide Barlowe was the first one who wanted to test her luck. With the precise incantation and flamboyant wand movement for Disarming charm that she aimed at AngelFyre McCubbin. Though McCubbin could not sling her own spell at least she can deflect Barlowe's spell with ease.
Cash can conclude for the first round of this year's stage three Duelling, there was some bad luck coming into the mix. Though Salwis's bad luck was not severe as McCubbin's. Bad luck is, well, bad luck. Hoping to hurt Logan Baird by her own brand of Ventus, the spell was not what Samantha Salwis hoping for.
Instead of hitting Baird with the Wind Jinx, the spell redirected its direction to Baird's Duelling partner, AngelFyre McCubbin. But just like any case of bad luck, the Perfectionist Ravenclaw could not hit McCubbin too. As a result, the young Hufflepuff could evade the incoming invasion that coming her way.

Hufflepuff vs Ravenclaw: Match 4
Okay, already this round was not off to a good start and Logan was really hoping this was just because they were not ready for the start of the round. At least her own spell did not backfire on herself. "Are you good AngelFyre?" Logan called out in question to her partner, really hoping things did not end too quickly. At least neither got hit with an incendio or anything similar.

Well, this was certainly NOT the most auspicious start to the Hufflepuff's duel. Logan was probably thinking with a partner like this, who needs opponents, and really, who could blame her for thinking it?
Catching her breath after absorbing the results of her own Knockback Jinx, AngelFyre's attention was immediately drawn to Cash's voice when asked if she was okay. She nodded vigorously and gave Cash a thumb's up and a wide smile to indicate that she was fine. Yes, her chest hurt, but not as much as her pride did in that moment.
Then AngelFyre proceeded to watch almost everything that could go wrong for everyone else on the piste do just that so. She was glad she was paying attention because dodging spells seemed to be what was called for that round. At least she could do something helpful in the moment. If only she had been able to dodge her own. Then Logan called out to her, and her voice was thick with doubt.
"Yeah, I am fine, Logan. Thanks. Just working out the kinks," and she tried to laugh with a confidence she hoped to feel very... very... soon.
Shake it off, AF. Take a deep breath and just start this round all over again.
The magic is real.

Hufflepuff vs Ravenclaw: Match 4
It was safe to say that this was an interesting round. Nothing seemed to go as planned for any of the duelists, including Samantha. Her original plan had been to cast ventus at Logan, trying to make the older student fight the annoying wind, but her aim was very far off. Somehow she managed to direct the spell at AngleFyre but she still missed and wasn't happy with herself at all. This was a horrible start of the duel, and not just any duel, no the duel Cash was looking over!
Luckily, the brunette managed to dodge the spell Logan had aimed at her. AngelFyre had also managed to dodge Addie's spell but also faced her own spell. Samantha had no idea what happened, but the backfired flipendo didn't seem like fun at all.

Hufflepuff vs Ravenclaw: Match 4
Well, this round definitely didn't go anything like she was expecting. To start off the duel with a bang, AngelFyre's Flipendo had managed to backfire so badly that she had hit herself instead. She wasn’t exactly intending on getting cocky when it was only the first round, but it just slipped out, “Did you intend on hitting yourself? A weird strategy, I have to say.”
Unfortunately, AngelFyre had managed to dodge her Expelliarmus, but at least she had been able to aim the spell at her intended target, unlike… someone. “You’re lucky that didn’t go flying towards me,” she told her partner after the badly aimed Ventus. Hopefully this round would be better for the Ravenclaws because even if she didn’t like Sam, she still wanted to win this duel.Action: As strategized
