The final duel of the season...

And he was still bored.

Dmitri Kazimir Jones yawned as he stepped foot onto the arena, taking a brief moment to acknowledge the moderator with a raise of one of his eyebrows. "Who were you again?"

Of course, he knew the Gryffindor. He'd been in both of his duels this stage one way or another, but the Slytherin really wasn't the type to give anyone the satisfaction to know he cared about their presence.

It was then that he turned to his dueling partner. Cazares was his first teammate since he started dueling and for just a little bit, he could say he was grateful for them being one of the first witnesses to his rise to glory. Not to mention that aside from Santario (who has unfortunately retired from dueling, bless her heart), they seemed to be one of the very few people who didn't quake at the sight of him.

"Cazares, glad to have you back. The usual?" Dmitri would implore, indicating that this was simply just another duel for them to win.

Again.

Just like old times.

After the success of their previous match, Aida was happy to see Delilah again. The white wix had heard some scary things about Dmitri’s duelling prowess and so decided to come dressed especially to encourage bravery in the Ravenclaw team. A bear-eared hat covered Aida’s head and wrapped around each shoulder, fuzzy and brown. Surely this form of psychological warfare would frighten the Slytherins into missing their shots?

“Let’s do our best! Unleash the beast within, raaaaaawwwwwrrrr!”

Delilah was ready for this, Dmitri and Ruby were her first opponents, they won, Dmitri was now her opponent again. Hopefully this time Delilah wasn't to be taken so lightly, she had won every duel she had fought excluding the one against him. It was time to see if Delilah could overtake him on the undefeated streak. She certainly wasn't going to concede.

Delilah turned to Aida, who was her partner again. With a smile she nodded, but stifled a laugh when she noticed the young wix' attire. They had the spirit in mind she supposed. "We can do this."

This was it. She was finally back. Her first real duel in two years, and it definitely felt good to be here. Strangely enough, this duel was comprised of three of the four people from her first duel—the little first year Ravenclaw now being replaced by an older student who Ruby might have seen around once or twice. They seemed to be wearing some sort of fuzzy bear hat, which Ruby looked at scornfully. The hell were they thinking, wearing that to a duel and telling Delilah to “unleash the beast within”? This was ridiculous. The foolish first years she had faced had had more professionalism. She shot a look at Dmitri as if to say “get a load of this”.

He offered her a “glad to have you back”—it would be recognized as great praise coming from the notoriously cold former captain. She was almost thankful. Truthfully, she was happy that her return to duelling meant a return to having him as her partner for the duel. Familiarity and a powerful teammate would surely make for an easy time. She nodded at Dmitri in response to his “the usual?”, confidence to match his own clear in her attitude. “Glad to be back. Let’s make this just like last time.” Cold eyes examined Delilah disdainfully, making it obvious that she didn’t view the older girl as a huge threat. She readied herself for the first round, a final assessing glance at her opponents. She could be as arrogant and as rude as she liked externally, but genuinely underestimating an opponent could be fatal.

As expected this duel did well on the promise to be interesting right at the start of things. Dmitri the boy Alan was quite sure just had to be recognizing him despite pretending not to (after all they knew of each other for how long now?) was not playing around and used a spell Alan was quite familiar with when duelling against him. "Who am I again? Riiiight," he said with a nonchalant grin as he saw the magic of the Body-Bind spell unfold, split to hit both of the Ravenclaws though Delilah seemed to be still moving; at least if you could call such cut off movements moving. Aida however took the brunt of the spell and upon impact would freeze up fully. Luckily both of them had managed to cast their very own spells in time, though luck wasn't on their side. Alan recalled luck was never on someone's side whenever he and Dmitri shared a piste, as the viper claimed the luck all for himself. Aida would attempt to cast a fire spell though if it was intimidation or some other force, it was a feeling that would give her goosebumps as her spell flew far and hit nothing in particular. Delilah wasn't in a much better position either, her spell to aim at Dmitri would almost hit her own ally and the blindfold materializing for Ruby, had no intentions of wrapping around the Slytherin's skull either. This gave her the perfect opportunity to retaliate. Ruby went for an all time favorite of many duellists, a wind jinx that was aimed at both the eagles and though she missed Delilah, the wind jinx would hit Aida and it looked quite hurtful too making impact just before Aida's body fully froze up as the victim of Petrificus Totalus.

[Spectator Thread, Day 2: Afternoon]

The little white-haired bear that was Aida had been duelling for many years, but never before had the wix seen such a total trainwreck of a round unfold. Hit with a ventus as well as petrification, not even Aida’s spell landed true as some horrid terror shook down to the wix’s animal core. Blindfolds came streaming back at both Ravenclaws as well, even if Aida's vision was the least of their concerns.

“Del-- !” was all the Ravenclaw could say before getting frozen as stiff as a polar bear frozen in a block of ice.

And just like old times, Dmitri and Ruby fell right into a rhythm of synchronicity that was both familiar and startling.

Startling for the Ravenclaws, of course. Dmitri didn't miss the way the younger Ravenclaw's eyes shifted alarmingly toward his direction before they cast their spell, causing a slight miscalculation in what was meant to be an attempted attack on Cazares. He relished the way their limbs locked before they toppled over onto the cold floor.

Too bad the other Ravenclaw was able to withstand his spell.

"Kinda reminiscent of our first duel, no?" Dmitri would say, though to whom, no one would know since both Ruby and Delilah were in his first-ever duel.

It could—quite validly—be addressed to both, to be perfectly honest.

Spells flew all at once. Ruby nimbly dodged Delilah’s spell, the blindfold whizzing far to Ruby’s side. It seemed the other Ravenclaw had also tried to attack her, but it went nowhere near the Slytherins after a slight change in demeanor—one that she loosely recognized as the effect Dmitri seemed to have on most people. After the Ravenclaws’ spells, the destruction happened. The Ravenclaws were struck down, frozen in place—well, only partially, in Delilah’s case—at Dmitri’s hand. Ruby’s spell, unfortunately, missed Delilah, but hit the other so squarely and cleanly she didn’t think she could've asked for a more accurate hit. Ruby's face hinted at a smug smile at the destruction they were already causing. The foolish hat-wearer had seemingly tried to start a sentence, the “Del–!” uttered before they were cut off. “Pathetic,” she sneered coolly.

Dmitri commented that it was similar to their first duel, leaving it unclear whether his comment was to Ruby, Delilah, or both. It didn’t matter either way. “Mm, I’d have to agree,” she said in a tone that could certainly be interpreted as taunting Delilah, especially when coupled with the mirth in her eyes. Delilah’s partner was on the floor in the first round again, leaving her to figure out what to do when faced with two opponents at once. Although this time was different—Delilah’s partner wasn’t unconscious, just frozen, and the temporary nature of the spell meant that they were still a concern to be dealt with later. Nevertheless, there were certainly parallels between the two duels. Surely it was fate that the Slytherins would win once more. But this time, they would likely have to fight for it a little harder.

Now this pissed her off. The insults thrown by the Slytherins were unnecessarily rude and there was no reason for it. Delilah ground her teeth with the resistance of the partially affecting petrificus totalus that had only just hit her and no more. Delilah was typically your relatively happy Ravenclaw, but this made her mad. You don't insult her duellists.
