This is a Friday evening, as there are no more lessons for Cassie tomorrow, she isn't in such a rush to do her homework. As a result, she decides to stay and wander around in the Great Hall after dinner, instead of rushing back to her common room.
After finishing her wonderful meal, Cassie stands up and rubs her belly. She looks around to see what other students are doing. Some students are still having their meal, a bit worried though for they are later than most students. Some students are chatting with each other, laughing and smiling. Some students are chasing each other around the hall, which is then forbidden by a staff.
Just then, one student catches Cassie's eyes. She is a Gryffindor girl with brown hair. She is concentrating on her hands. Her hands are holding some wool. She is knitting them together. Cassie has once seen someone knitting on a magazine selling self- knitting tools. The Gryffindor girl is holding green and yellow wool, seeming to be knitting a bottle-like object.
Very curious, Cassie walks towards the Gryffindor girl. She stands behind her, watching her knit. After a while, she sits down beside her, and says softly, 'Hello, are you knitting? I am Cassie Jiang, a first year Ravenclaw. Can you let me see how you're knitting? I longed to learn how to knit. Thank you.'

Linda was knitting now second half of the vase, meaning that half of it was already done when suddenly she heard a girl's voice close to her.

She looked at the girl after marking where she stopped and said: "Hi. Yeah, I am knitting a vase. I am Linda Ramirez, a first year Gryffindor. Yeah sure, I can teach you if you want. I have everything you would need."

It was first time here in Hogwarts when someone got interested in knitting. Cassie looked like a really nice person. Interesting, what would she like to knit and will it be easy to teach?

Till now Linda was teaching knitting just her friends in her hometown. It was really fun as it took some time for them to learn to remember where they stopped but at the same time it was really nice time. Sitting in the garden, knitting flowers. Our parents were so happy to see those flowers.

But back to now. She tried to knit slowly so that Cassie could catch the idea how to do it. She decided to let her watch and if she would have questions, ask them. She was sure this vase is going to appear great. Perhaps she would give Cassie even try to do some part of it now since she's willing to learn. But anyway she would let this girl knit whatever she would want today so she could already have something done.

"How is your day till now if you don't mind me asking?"

Cassie watches curiously as Linda knits. She knows how to sew, but she does not know how to knit. 'Thank you Linda! Thank you for agreeing to teach me! I would love to learn how to knit a vase!'

Cassie smiles happily and warmly, she can see that Linda has slowed down her knitting, perhaps to let her look closely and get to know how to knit. Cassie thinks she perhaps basically know what to do, but she is not sure before she can give it a try.

'My day?' Cassie answers as Linda asks about her day. 'My day is just normal and nice. I had lessons in the morning, Then I did some reading in the library, then some lessons in the afternoon. I went back to my common room for some rest and fun, Then I came down for dinner. Tomorrow is Saturday, so I am not in a rush of doing my homework. Then I decided to wander around the great hall and met you. This is such a coincidence! I never wandered around before. Just today, and I met you! I usually go for a walk around the Great Lake after dinner, and then go back to the common room or the library for extra study. How's your day?'

You can actually start to try to knit already. I guess it will be even easier to make sure if you understand it or I can direct you if you don't know what to do next. I have enough here with me for both to knit at the same time, so you can choose colors you like and start. You can also let me know if you want another shape of vase. Linda smiled looking at Cassie. She became quite professional in knitting so there were times she didn't need to look at what she was doing. It was letting her pay attention to something else.

She listened to Cassie as she was talking about her day. It sounded a lot like her own. Li smiled as she thought about how both of them liked to spend time in library. Except that her own homework was already done.

Oh it was quite usual. Lessons in the morning, some food and biscuits. Then again lessons. Then I did my homework, I had so little, and read about dragons. Then ate and after that today I decided to knit. I found it so nice to sit here that even got interested why I didn't spend more time here before. She smiled as she finished talking. She was free for weekend so the only important thing now was to try to not stay here after curfew.

'Thank you Linda! I will knit a similar one as yours.' Cassie says as Linda agrees to let her start. She goes to the bunch of threads Linda brought and picks some in the colour of blue and bronze. These are the colours of Ravenclaw, so she definitely will choose them.

She takes up the threads and imitates Linda's movements. In an out, the lines was sometimes almost out of control. Luckily, after looking carefully at Linda's movements, she memorizes the moves in her mind, and starts knitting quite fast. Soon, one layer of the vase in blue, then, time for another layer in bronze.

She starts chatting with Linda again, as she can now do the knitting without needing to concentrate at what she is doing. 'Yep, this is such a normal day for me. The homework is not much, just the essay of History of Magic is annoying. I am doing some extra studies and preview the lessons for the lessons next week this weekend. This makes my studies more efficient. I have copies of all the syllabus for the classes, even the optional ones. I usually pre-write some notes on my note parchment before class, mainly from my textbooks and extra reading, so I can have more time in class to listen carefully to the teacher. You like dragons? Wow, do you want to study dragonology in the future?'

Sounds like we are similar about studying. I mean I also like to take notes and see in advance so I can focus more on lesson. But I do still prefer to do it all during the week and weekends just for reading something else. Linda smiled looking at Cassie. They sounded like having some things in common. Maybe Cassie could become her bestie? Li didn't know.

Oh my older brother is working with dragons and was taking me with him sometimes. So naturally I got quite interested so I'm reading a lot about them. Probably I would study dragonology, but I don't know. What about you?

Linda knew she sort of spoke a lot, but it was fine. She looked at Cassie's knitting and saw that the girl was doing really nice job. I see you are doing great job in knitting. I like how it appears to be, including colors you chose. She smiled.

Linda almost finished hers and was already thinking about what to knit next. She also was wondering if Cassie had some animals she liked a lot. Then Li thought if she needs to choose dragonology in the future. But future could have a lot of events in it so anything could change. Also she somehow wished to do something different from her family. Then she returned her attention to Cassie and listened to her talking.

Cassie smiles as she listens to Linda while knitting her vase, in the colour of blue and bronze. More and more parts of the vase has been finished.

'That is great, not every student likes studying like me.' Cassie smiles, it seems like she has met a best friend. 'You know, I set a goal for myself from the start of the semester. I am going to get an O for my every homework in my seven years. So I just force myself in studying at weekends. It can get tiring sometimes, really.' Cassie smiles once again.

'Wow, you have a brother? That is wonderful! I am the only child in my family, so I get lonely sometimes. How lucky you are!' Cassie dreams of having a brother or sister. 'As for me, I want to be an Astronomer. My favourite subject is Astronomy. It is just so fun! I want to further study it in the future! I like dragons too, but my favourite magical creature is Unicorns. It is so wonderful and pure.' Cassie longs to meet a unicorn some time.

'Thank you.' Cassie smiles to Linda's praise. 'Without you, I would never get to learn knitting! Thank you Linda!'

Linda listened to Cassie with a smile. I am getting an O almost in every subject already, but I want to make it O even in those I got E now. So I'm trying to study really much, but I'm also more extravert than introvert, so I leave weekends free from studying. But I can understand you. Could it be that they would be close friends? She wished for that.

Oh yeah. He is so fun to spend time with, although lately before Hogwarts I was spending more time with my friends. I can't imagine how it's to be the only child. Linda said while thinking about it. How would it be if she wouldn't have brother? She couldn't imagine. Astronomy? That's awesome. I have telescope at my mansion where I was always looking at stars and meteor showers. Star shooting is also really awesome to look at. But it would be really cool to know much more about all these than I know. Linda looked at Cassie enthusiastically. How much more they had in common? That was really fascinating. Unicorns are nice too. But very rare to be seen sadly. But I wish you could see a unicorn one day if you didn't see before.

Cassie continues to knit while listening to Linda. 'Oh, can I help you somehow? I enjoy teaching. I am a extrovert too! I join many clubs, but studying is also my priority.' Cassie smiles warmly, Linda is really like a friend.

'It is lonely sometimes, I longed to get a younger brother or sister. You are just so lucky, Linda.' Cassie continues, 'I have a telescope in my mansion too. I actually has a group of telescopes, it is fun to spend time there at night, in peace. I also make models of planets there too. Perhaps sometime we can visit each other's mansion?' Cassie asks, smiling.

'I love meteor showers, they are just so pretty. I never saw a real unicorn. I do hope to see one one day. Perhaps when I grow up!' Cassie smiles at Linda, imagining meeting a real unicorn. 'Have you met a dragon before?' Cassie asks.

'Yes! It is fun to share everything with you too! Shall we be friends?' She smiles and asks. The answer is obvious.

Cassie finishes her vase. 'Thanks Linda, it looks perfect! Thanks for teaching me how to knit. Can I please keep it?' Cassie hugs it to here chest.
