Closed Fixed Wounds PV Isadora Everridge Linda Ramirez

The last Dora was in the hospital wing was, funnily enough, when she was escorting another injured student. But now she doesn't know why she's needed. Linda's help should be more than enough for Courtney.

'What am I thinking?' She scolds herself, 'You should be happy to help!' Dora frowns. It's not that she doesn't want to, though. Every time she glances at Courtney's arm she's anxious to get her the help she needs. But being around these two strange girls, she just feels so out of place. The librarian asked to help her get to the hospital wing, but once she's there, Dora can probably go.

Then, just before they go in, “Maybe we should go some other time? The nurse may not be in today, yeah?"

Dora blinks in disbelief. 'Is that a joke?' She wonders, looking at the burns again. They're much too severe to be left untreated!

The Gryffindor, Linda says, "We are going there now. You have burns that look like they are deep and I am sure you are in huge pain. Even if nurse is not there, there still will be someone to treat students. Come on, let's go now, I'm sure you don't want to stay with this pain and get more people asking you what happened. Don't worry, we will be here with you."

Dora's glad Linda put her foot down so she doesn't have to. Courtney certainly looks nervous. Maybe she doesn't like hospitals? Dora knows her grandfather doesn't, that's why they have their doctor come by the manor for his check-ups. She opens the door to the hospital wing for them, looking at the girl sympathetically. They must have some Burn Healing Paste on hand..

'Today will be a good day!'

“Don’t worry, we will be here with you”

Those words kept repeating in Courtney’s head. She let out a sigh. She knew deep down she couldn’t get away with this. What was she thinking away? She knew this wouldn’t work but what was supposed to try? Plan B when you don’t know a plan B?

“Don’t worry, we will be here with you”

Now Courtney felt she couldn’t breathe. Thoughts filled her head again. Can’t they just stop? Wasn’t this enough? Now Courtney started to wobble; losing her balance quickly. Tearing up,again, ever so fast. Courtney accepted the fact that: this has to happen.

“I’m sure you don’t want to stay with this pain”

Whatever was going on with their minds was probably correct. Courtney gains back her balance.

“Yeah. Yeah, you’re right. Let’s go in.”

Courtney didn’t bother looking to see their expressions. She looked down and opened the door with such elegance. Elegance meaning shaky, of course.
There the Hospital Wing was uncovered. Looking to the desk you can see the nurse. They seem to be busy, best not to disturb them. That would be rude and Courtney was already shaken up from the incident back at the library. Speaking of the library, Courtney should really tell two girls what happened. Not now though, right now the focus is getting someone to help us. Is Courtney good at asking for help? No, that was her least favorite thing to do. But, she’s in Hogwarts now, time to grow up.

The girls go up to the assistance of the nurse. Though they might seem busy, it doesn’t hurt to ask.

“Um, are you busy currently? I can go to someone else if that’s the case, no worry.”

Whoever let Courtney speak should be fired honestly. Though, if she wasn’t going to ask, who would? Perhaps the two girls, but Courtney caused them enough trouble for today.

Courtney definitely seems nervous in the way that she hesitantly asks one of the hospital wing staff for help. Dora can sympathize though, she'd probably be nervous too in her situation. It's hard to talk to adults...

She watches from a polite distance as Courtney gets treated with what looks like Burn-Healing Paste. Dora's eyes light up with recognition, remembering the Potions lesson about it from earlier in the year. Burn-Healing Paste is supposed to provide pain relief immediately and heal the burns after some time, so that's good for Courtney. Healing magic seems interesting, the way it can help fix little scrapes and more serious injuries like these burns. It sort of reminds her of Uncle Harris' work, except that he doesn't work with people that are alive.

"It all happened so fast. I feel worried about Courtney even though it's first time I see her, isn't it strange?" The girl Linda says quietly to Dora, coming to stand beside her. Dora's social fears flare up again and she has trouble making eye contact. "Mm.. Maybe.."

Linda continues, "I'm happy none of us got into trouble, but I really hope she won't try something like that again. Do you have any ideas for what she tried to do?"

The question hangs in the air as Dora thinks back to the library. All she saw were flying sparks, and everything happened so quickly. "I'm not sure. Maybe a spell backfired?" Dora's always afraid of that happening to her and damaging her wand. She makes sure to study a new spell thoroughly before she casts it, just in case.

But Courtney had been so apologetic before, like she'd done something wrong. Well, now her wounds are bandaged and she's been left in a cot to rest. Dora isn't sure if she should ask what happened or leave it be. Seeing the Hufflepuff now, she still looks somewhat unhappy, and Dora feels bad.

"How is it?" Dora asks Courtney carefully, looking at the bandages.

'Today will be a good day!'

“How is it?” Isadora asks

How is it? How was Courtney supposed to describe the pain? Not the pain of the pain of the burn, but the emotional pain. Courtney almost got her in trouble. Courtney almost got Isadora and Linda in trouble, But she didn’t.

“Decent I guess? The paste was cold.” Breathe “Sorry, again, I didn’t know what I was thinking. I got excited and completely blocked out all sense. Worst of all, I almost got you two in trouble.”

All this happened too fast. Way too fast. But the two girls stayed. Isadora and Linda stayed. And suddenly Sadness fades away. It always does at the end of fairy tales, but. This isn’t a fairy tale, this is real life, and real life doesn’t have happy endings.
Maybe this side plot will have one. Maybe new friends will start to bloom. Or maybe they all part ways, acting as if this whole ordeal never happened. That can be a happy ending, right?

“I bet you guys wanna know what I did.” Breathe “So I wanted to be all those cool looking heroes on TV and do hard spells like they did. So I ran into a library, picked out a book and tried one of the spells in it. Before I knew it I was holding down tears from the burn. I mean the burn didn’t hurt at first, but then it slowly started to burn and some of the sparks hit it. What a fun time that was.”

Courtney wished this was all a dream, a dream to look back on and learn from the mistakes of. This wasn’t a dream. This is real life, and Courtney needs to face that fact. Other by Isadora and Linda’s help or on her own.

Courtney explains that the burn feels better, which is relieving. She still seems upset though, apologizing again, talking about how she wasn't thinking. Dora isn't sure how to comfort her, and she doesn't see herself as the most comfortable person to be around. Courtney explains further, “I bet you guys wanna know what I did. 'What's TV?' Dora wonders, but thinks she gets the gist of it. She went into casting a spell unprepared. Dora never does that, she's too afraid of what could happen, like... this! If she did what Courtney did, her grandmother would be so cross! But Courtney is so apologetic now, Dora can't find it in herself to hold it against her.

Linda offers her advice, and Dora nods along. One should always be prepared to cast a spell. "It's good that you didn't damage your wand. Not that your hand isn't important too." Dora says, meaning it to be encouraging, though maybe it doesn't come off that way. "And, um, the librarian was there to help, and Linda. So, it all turned out okay." She stops talking, feeling so awkward for not getting her words right.

"Do you want to sit somewhere and talk a bit? We don't need to stay here now and I would like to know about you more." Linda suggests, and Dora considers it. They seem nice. However.. "I should get back to studying." She says apologetically, hoping she's not being too rude. Now that Courtney seems okay, though, she doesn't see a good reason to delay her learning further. And maybe a part of her feels they'll have more fun without her.
